You had many friends when you were posting news during the Israeli Hizbollah saga. We know how Israeli bombs did not discrimate between Sunni, Shii, Apostolic, Catohlic or Protestant. And look at it now. Why can't you be a concerned Lebanese Armenian without having to pray to allah?/kaka/ whoever te F he may be? How does it matter whether one urinates out of a circumcized or uncircumcized organ? It is all the same piss, which in Turkish means faecis. Why do I write the way I do? Let that clown of an allah/jehovah/astouats hit me, smite me. he/they have not yet done so. My “god” transcends, and is above all those man made clowns, be they circumcised or not. I would never, I'm religious and proud Christian, but even if I weren’t I’d never become Muslim I believe Islam is pretty much of an evil religion. Armenak I think I mentioned before that my family was very intolerant towards Muslims at one point. We have had a lot of quarrels about this at home , and at some point I managed to change their mind about Muslims. At the stage when I only defined my interest in Islam as "out of curiosity" , they did not have much problem with it and I used to tell them about what I had read and learned , but when I passed the curiosity stage into seriously believing and wanting to practice , they were a bit dismayed, and insisted that I was just curious about it and did not have to convert , I could just keep on reading about it. Anyway their main concern was people's reaction. "what will relatives say ?" , "what will friends say ? " After I told my friends ,of course almost the entire community had to know about this , because Armenian gossip, as I said, travels faster than the speed of light . anyway , what my parents had feared happened. everyone cut off their ties. just like that. Just because I had converted. So they had no choice in this , they were 'dragged' into this . Anyway , they are almost three quarters 'there' , to being Muslims , though my mother does not wear the Hijab . We celebrate/mourn Muslim holidays (though my father does not go to Ashura councils and street marches) and also Christmas. You must understand that you have converted to, from all the religions - Islam, the religion against which we have been suffering and fighting for 1300 years!!! Here are these Muslims who have been trying to convert (this might not be what Islam is all about but the religion has been majorly bastardized) us for centuries now and to see a fellow Armenian VOLUNTARILY turn to the "dark side" is kind of discouraging. Your conversion is bad morally, psychologically and historically, especially for a community like Lebanon which has suffered the most from Islam (AG, civil war) but anyway you know all this. Katch Vartan would be spinning in his grave if he found out that Armenians are voluntarily giving up on Christianity, the religion he was martyred for. Like it or not, our national identity is closely tied with us being Christian, family traditions etc are mostly Christian practises. Our fedayis all went fighting after being prayed upon by our priests who also held guns at various times. Khrimian Hayrik was one of our most inspirational religious leaders and he was not an imam or wtv. What other hyeforum members mentioned about you being assimilated is highly possible my friend. While you are patriotic (very good Sassun), you are slowly losing contact with the Armenian community and aspects of Armenianness such as language and dare I say, religion. Anyway about your choices given, I would chose number 1) as well. And btw about your claim that this will be apostocy...you converting to Islam is not considered apostosy to Christianity? Why shouldn't you take a bullet for Christianity yet you are willing to take one for Islam. Is this how it will be in the future when the invading Muslim armies are attacking Armenia? I certainly hope not. Allah and his virgins are nothing compared to you being Armenian and protecting the soil on which your grandfathers and ancestors were martyred for while being massacred or fighting Muslim armies. As Harout Pamboukjian sang in "Garun", "Asvdadz mezi oknagan, grvov mdnenk DADJGASDAN, PRGENK YERGIR HAYASTAN". Would I be disallowed from doing so (or not respected if I am Martyred ) because Armenian Priests cannot bless me before going off? MONTE MELKONIAN did not fight AGAINST MUSLIMS. He fought against Azeris. He fought ALONGSIDE Muslims, in LEBANON (the Israelis knew him BY NAME, he, by himself, had done them that much damage. Just imagine for a moment, we are talking here about one of the world's most powerful armies, which defeated entire Arab armies in 6 days), and in Kurdistan. Should he have been disallowed from doing so because he prayed differently, and believed in another religion ? And by the way, the Lebanese Armenians suffered during the civil war , but they did not suffer from Muslims any more than they suffered from Christians , ever heard of the Kata'eb / Phalange ? They were the ones who tried to attack Armenians. And if I were not just a kid during the Leb. civil war, you would know which side I would have fought on.
