Lev7
Who said anything about the sea, or civilization for that matter? Who cares about the sea? The Lebanese have a sea and claim to have been the bearers of Phoenician civilization but don't even have a freaking navy! The entire Lebanese "navy" probably comprises... 10 fishing boats!!! lol

vava
Don't want to incite anything, but.... Audio - Rush Limbaugh: This is a gift to the world "Bombing Iran is a gift to he world" and Isreal is just giving us an excuse And what is Limbaugh’s justification for calling the spreading devastation "a gift to the world"? For Limbaugh and others who share this delusional, genocidal view of the world, this is the ultimate "clash of civilizations." As I write this, he is now saying that this war was "never intended to stop with Iraq." This is "finally" our chance to go after Iran. As he puts it, there will be no peace until one side finally defeats the other completely. I will leave to you the determination of precisely what such a defeat might entail, and how many people will have to die. And then, once the other side is finally defeated, "the winner must set the terms of surrender to the loser".Source: From this post Finally, World War III is he here, but let's stop stalling it: Good ol' Newt Gingrich Who are these crazed warmongers?? And why is the US administration listening to them? Edited July 21, 2006 by vava

Sassun
LOL. This just in, the Israelis have promised "significant rewards" for any information on HezbAllah's leaders... 1. This shows how cowardly the Israelis are. 2. This shows that the Israelis are actively pursuing their dream of creating civil/sectarian strife in Lebanon. 3. This shows how desperate the Israelis are, now that they are forced into the battlefield and have already lost 15+ soldiers without even being able to go 1 km into Lebanese territory. 4. This shows how little they know about HezbAllah; they think that the capture/assassination of its leader(s) will result in the dismantlement of the entire party/resistance... He did actually. He never condemned Israel for its excessive use of force, and for the death of a large Canadian family of 9. However, he precipitated to condemn Hezballah, that killed only around 15 civilians (the rest of the victims being soldiers) and only wanted to liberate the hundreds of Lebanese prisonners who were mostly innocent. While watching news of US Marines landing in Beirut, all those ships evacuating US and other citizens to Cyprus, I could not help but remember this; http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/margolis12.html
Dave
I've heard of the news while watching a French Canadian TV channel "TVA". It was later said that the explosion was caused by a fire extignuisher. Dave
Turkey's national interests prevent it from cutting its ties with Israel. The reasons: Turkey needs the help of American Jewish lobbies to curb the influence of the Armenian lobbies who are working to have Armenian genocide claims to be accepted by Washington. http://www.adnki.com/index_2Level_English....00348&par=
skhara
"Turks know that the Arabs did not support Turkey neither on the Cyprus nor the Armenian issues. In fact, despite repeated calls by Ankara, not a single Arab country has to date recognised the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," he says. I'd say we have every reason to support Hezbollah -- if for no other reason than geopolitics.

Sassun
Israeli claims are far from reality: -IDF says has bodies of Hezbollah militants killed in fighting near border **** reliable sources tell me that so far only 2 HezbAllah fighters have been killed. -IDF Spokesman: Troops operating several kilometers into southern Lebanon **** Israelis have been kicked out of the border village of Marwaheen... -IAF hits 70 targets in Lebanon overnight and in morning **** 70 what targets? Ah yes, civilian -IAF bombs roads between Lebanon, Syria; Hezbollah bunkers; launch sites **** same Israeli source reports about half an hour later: Katyusha rockets fired on Upper Galilee, Golan Heights / Alert sounds in Haifa for residents to enter safe rooms / Katyusha rockets hit Nahariya; several people lightly injured / 28 Katyusha rockets land around northern city of Kiryat Shmona / Katyushas hit Golan Heights, Safed area / Fires break out in Galilee region after Katyusha strikes -Naval artillery strikes rocket launch sites in southern Lebanon **** that's 20 minutes ago.. in 10 more minutes they will report rocket barrages over Haifa, then say they have now destroyed 60% of HezbAllah's capabilities. Did you also notice that their 50% figure went down to 40%? And that's still BS. Not even 1% of HezbAllah capabilities and fighters have been hit. I love how they're now claiming they seized villages and in it HezbAllah weapons and we haven't seen one photo of those alleged captured villages and rockets. Sassun
Israelis just bombed TV station and mobile antennas in the north of Beirut (Christian) areas. Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (Israel's proxy during the war Christian Lebanese Forces station) is no longer on the air, but HezbAllah TV Al-Manar Station continues to broadcast uninterrupted! Some cellular services are out of service... the war on HezbAllah (??) continues...
Arpa
I just heard on NPR a portion of an interview with Sona Karian in Damascus who was talking between tears about her relatives left behind. As I turned on I also heard Anjar (the Armenian town) mentioned even though I did not get the connection. Beirut and other cities are virtually flattened. Is Jabal El Arz, the Mount of Cedars still standing. http://www.middleeast.com/thecedars.htm Please allow me to repost these passages from that Book Of Holy Hate. Rom.8 31-What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Conduct of war as prescribed by Jehovah. 1Sam.15 [3] Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. Deut.2-33] And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people. [34] And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain: [35] Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took Deut.20-[16] But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:

Arpa
I had nor seen this. It may have been removed. Amalekites "Armenia is also sometimes called Amalek in some sources, and Jews often referred to Armenians as Amalekites. This is the Byzantine term for the Armenians. It was adopted….." I am assuming it was prompted by my post quoting the Bible; 1Sam.15 [3] Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. Depending where one looks the Amalekites can be any of these. Canaanites , aka Phoenicians, Philistines, aka Gazans, Assyro-Babylonians, or Arabs. See below, one many sites dealing with the subject.. "The Amalekites This nomadic nation was, in ancient times, Israel's eternal foe. Shortly after the Israelites left Egypt and were wondering the desert, the Amalekites attacked the weary nation, slaughtering the weak and elderly. The Israelites, under the leadership of Joshua, later avenged the attack and defeated the Amalekites, but failed to completely eradicate the nation. Israel was then plagued with raids Amalekite raids. Today, the name Amalek is a symbol for evil and hatred against Jews, and Haman, the Persian leader who vowed to destroy all Jews, is considered a descendant of Agag, king of the Amalekites." In short it seems “Amalekite” is a generic term to denote any one who does not subscribe to Jehovah. In other words it may be synonymous to “gentile”. After all there only two worlds, one that of the Kosher, where only two people, Abraham and Moses reside, and the other “gentile” world with 6 billion inhabitants. If one would dare and delve into the etymology of the term it may look like a/without, malek/king would mean “kingless people”, i.e nomads. Verginne
Why does this thread keep going back to the Amelikites???? Maybe because every time the jews start killing everything in sight...man, woman, child...the ancient examples of jewish past genocides comes to mind. The Old Testament is basically nothing but tales of jews killing everyone.
