Arpa jan, From what I've been able to google really quickly, the director is a 3rd generation French Armenian who visited Turkey recently in order to make this film. It would seem that his Turkified name was a handy cover - story goes that his grand father Karapet managed to survive the genocide in part due to the adoption of the Turkish name. I don't see anything so terrible about this. Some may argue that to be true to his culture he should perhaps re-adopt his grandfather's original Armenian name... but does the coerced name change not have a place within our culture? I don't wish to stir the pot - I know you're sensitive about this topic based on your reaction to our poor Isabel B-ian, but such forced name changes are part of the history of our people and provide an indication of the yolk of oppression endured by our forefathers.

Nice to "see" you too! I'm still around... lots of life changes obviously. Life tends to get in the way of those little, but important things (like HF!!! ) so I'm trying to at least drop in and visit old friends now and again... Hope you're doing well.

The Pre really isn't bad as a phone - it kind of resurrected Palm. We'll see if they can build on success. iPhone's are still dominant though - and now are slowly working their way into the business world with full MS exchange integration, which was formerly the exclusive domain of the Blackberry. I love my BB btw, but if I could pick up a droid in these parts, I probably would...

And you'd probably be right for the majority of informational searches. Where real-time search is handy is when you need to capture the "pulse" of particular community, during an election campaign for instance. It's a slippery slope however, since these rankings, real-time or not, can be manipulated. And that,s why the question of credibility becomes important.

Notably with "live" searches... with micro-blogging, digg, twitter, facebook and other social networks with real-time status updates, the most relevant search results may have been posted only minutes ago. Current mainstream search engines don't provide these results albeit, blog posts and such are generally of questionable credibility. Still the "live" information market exists, and I would expect Google to embrace these sources. Startups, such as Scoopler, have been lauched in the past year or so - but none have gained traction from what I've observed. Let's see what comes...

I used to have one of these (I only found a picture of the advert) http://i12.ebayimg.com/06/i/001/39/e6/5be2_12.JPG The one pictured was a bit more recent than mine. It was pretty cool - I suppose it was a first generation word processor. You'd print line-by-line - but before printing you could edit to your hearts content. I had it up until a couple of years ago when I tried to sel it on-line - but to no avail... And Arpa - yes I've used a real typewriter, but this was the only one I owned...

Happy belated birthday Eve!

Sad news. Poor kid - never had a childhood, and never became an adult. He was stuck in an eternal purgatory, at once the "king of pop" and simultaneously the victim of his own genius. That kind of life would drive anyone a little batty - I really felt bad for him. Still, it's undeniable he made a significant mark on pop music and the recording industry, and for that he should be lauded.

Brilliant! Azat - I totally have you to thank for making an Aznavour fan of me - I had never really been exposed to his genius prior to your influence. It's great to see such international recognition for him continuing for him even at his age...
