  1. Testimony was given during the trial that Magaryan did not antagonize Safarov in any way. Why was Safarov allowed to lie in his final remarks and why did the media repeat his lies?
  2. Gams and Anahid, For your information there is a Turk on trial in Turkey, Murat Belge, who may have to spend time in prison for standing up for the Armenian ause. Taner Akcam will be conducting seminars on the Armenian Genocide soon. Turks walked through Grey Wolves bombarding them with eggs to attend a university seminar recently in Istambul. Fatima Gocek and others teach the Armenian genocide in US colleges. Do you also want these people to knife themselves? Please, let's cut out this teenager talk. We are all too old for that.
  3. Religion is the root of all evil. How much blood has been shed in the name of God! What a sick joke. Armenia is not immune to this. Our nobles massacred millions of our own in the 9th to 11th centuries and thus opened up our lands to the invaders who now hold them.
  4. Azat, You are baiting me to post what Mosjan will throw me out of the Forum for. I know EXACTLY what I was stating due to Arpa's transgression where he posted the name of a Forum member here. Once you have a name, it is quite simple to find bankruptcy records as it is a federal US activity.
  5. The Treaty of Lausanne was signed by the Soviet leadership. The Repulic of Armenia is not bound to the acquiescence of those signatories. The fact that the massacres were organized by "The Triumvirate "is well established. No nation should be expectedto agree to a lie. As for Artsakh, how does that differ from the lands that the Turks agined at the time of the Turkish conquests. Artsakh was won fair and square. What is Baku willing to give up to bring Artsakh uner its jurisdiction?
  6. Let them gyrate all they want. It will be good for us for them to erect a statue of the Turkish "Hitler" in Baku. Only Turkey asnd Azerbaijan believe the made-up story. For world opinion the statue will only fan the flames of Genocide Recognition. It will isolate them more form the rest of the world.
  7. Azat, Then please do not throw out accusations that I am hallucinating.
  8. Mosjan, I beg to differ with you. It was not me who actually posted MJ's name in this forum, but the "darling" of the moderators Arpa. Arpa was the one who posted the MOST personal information last time, MJ's actual name. It was because Arpa was upset that Dr. Acemoglu had suddenly passed away. As a traditional physician who believed in Western medicine, he no doubt practiced what he preached on himself. Unfortunately, many physicians die as tragically as did the great Armenian hero, Murat Acemoglu.
  9. Azat, I may have been out-of-line alluding to personal information, but I was most definately not hallucinating. Send me a personal message through the Forum and I will explain the EXACT information that I am privy to.
  10. Ali, Welcome back. I do not have time to reply at present, but can inform you , as a wayward Armenian who embraces the "Eastern " religions that MJ's negative karma has boomeranged to bite him as he is in serious financial straights at present. His personal financial circumstances have gone into a nosedive.
  11. Do any of you know the meaning of "brain drain." I live in a far outpost of the world. I recently see a lot of names clearly Hyastantzi employed in high-tech firms with jobs better than mine. Where the h**l do you think they emigrated from?
  12. Azat, You are one very astute and perceptive man. Daddy's money and influence can even buy a beauty title for their daughter. The ROA has became a place where EVERYTHING is for sale. I would not be surprised if we hear that the Matenadaran or the Spendarian Opera House will be razed so that some oligarch can build a condominium complex on the site.
  13. Jews are treated very well in Armenia. Given that Israel enables Turkey's amnesia, Armenians are very tolerant indeed. How do you think Armenians would be treated in Israel if the ROA claimed that the Holocaust never existed. Even now, Armenians living in Israel are treated much worse than are Jews living in Armenia. Do youth in Armenia spit on Rabbis or religious symbols of Judaism, like the incidents where Israeli youth spit on Armenian priests and crosses in Israel. No, and there has even been intermarriage between Armenians and Jews, as Kasparov is a prime example. Laciner is desperate. American Jewish opinion has soured on Turkey. Mein Kampf is a bestseller there, movies show American Jewish doctors as Mengeles, Hamas is a welcome guest there. The Turks are losing their strongest allies in America. For decades, they have worked feverishly to maintain a Jewish veto on issues of concern to Armenians. The Turks are in a state of alarm. Laciner wants to bring "the good ol' days" back when American Jews acted as their "third column." So he creates false history. He is trained as a political scientist, not a historian, and he operates as a politician not as a social scientist. The Jewish community lives very comfortably in Armenia. In fact "Jews migrated to Armenia from other parts of the Soviet Union because of the high level of tolerance there. As for anger toward Israel for its stance on the Genocide, that is understandable and justified.

    Travel

Santorini (Thera) in the Aegean is out of this world. How about Malta, with an amazing cultural mix or perhaps the art region above the French Riviera. All were relatively inexpensive when I was there. In the Pacific, Bali, if the Islamic revolutionaries stay quiet, and you can stop off in New Zealand nearby.
  15. The latest news out of London is that a joint UK-US invasion of Iran is in the making. No doubt the madman who runs Iran accelerated this. The Azeris and the Turks will use this to re-establish their tarnished image. The Azeris will want enosis with Iranian Azerbaijan. Will the Turks allow American and British troops to pass through Turkey this time? Are we going to be "collateral damage" again? If only the Turks were decent, ROA would have other options than being wrapped in the bosom of Iran.
  16. Is this true that she is only 1/4 Armenian? In free countries, the beauties get the prize. When I visited Yerevan, I saw many women walking on the streets who equalled this woman in beauty. The most beautiful one I saw was in Gyumri, a city in ruins. I still can not understand why a woman of merely passable beauty won the prize as Miss Armenia.
  17. When the Soviet Union disintegrated, the geo-political situation changed. The Turkish authorities are grasping for threads to restore the influence they had in the past. Iraq was a feather in their cap for awhile, despite the fact that they turned down the request for American troops to use Turkey to invade Southern Kurdistan (known as northern Iraq). They think that they can play the same game they have played for decades, but the rules of the game have changed. Who would have thought a few years ago that they would lose the support of their most avid American congressional representative, Congressman Lantos, or that he would be avidly supporting an Armenian-American for public office? Arpa, the term "Genocide" is not that critical. A group of Armenian attorneys are hitting those who reaped windfall profits from the destruction of the Armenian community. It goes well beyond Turkey. It is such nuts-and-bolts issues that will bring to light what transpired. Much of the fault is ours. By focusing solely on ourselves, and ignoring the fate of the Pontic Greeks and Assyrians, we give the Turkish government an opening to claim "treasonous Armenians." When these other victims are included in the argument, the Turkish protestations evaporate. What reasons can they conjure up for the annihilation of these other groups?
  18. Someone should send this letter of Israel Charny to Harut Sassonian and to major US newspapers. I have never heard of such distortions by a so-called mainstream publication before.
  19. I thoroughly enjoyed London and the British Museum, Oxford Town, the Tower of London, etc., etc. on just pennies a day. These high rollers just don't know how to live on a budget. My cousin told me that I couldn't get a room in Paris for less than $400.00 per night and that restaurants were very expensive. I found decent lodging for $65.00 per night and excellent vegetarian restaurants which were moderately priced. If you have to be a high roller, you will be paying "through the nose."
  20. Anahid, We are now a small people. Were were once much larger. Over the centuries we decimated many of our own over petty religious arguments. Today, as a nation surrounded by enemies on almost all sides, we get into petty disagreements based primarily on religious matters. Armenians are much more tolerant and gracious to odars than they are to fellow Armenians. Armenians frequently focus on one-upmanship instead of working toward common goals. I can remember back in 1975 communicating with Cher's agency. After this, I discussed a telethon, with Cher as the headliner, to raise funds for Armenian causes with a committee of Armenians. They shot my idea, down stating that Cher was a "fallen woman" a disgrace to our community. I stand by my statement that individually Armenians are brilliant, but know little of how to work in unison. The only instance I remember otherwise was in 2000 when a Genocide Resolution came within hair's breath of being passed in the US House of Representatives.
  21. Ara, Moderates are quickly silenced as traitors.
  22. Azat, Will there be any of the Yerevan we remember remaining when the construction frenzy ends?
  23. From Wisconsin to elbowing with the movie set. Is your last name Egoyan? Personally I prefer rustic Topanga Canyon, being a hippie at heart.
  24. Shaunt, Except for the smog, you have forgotten Claremont and the some of the communities that surround it and the Diamond Bar / La Habra Heights area. There are also some upscale sections of Downey that would astound you, given the part of LA that it is located in.
  25. Yerevan, in its most desperate time, was better than LA. It was a pedestrian city. Republic Square was well designed. I was amazed at the beautiful women walking the streets back then. We in America were led to believe that Soviet women were all farm women, overweight and with hair all over their bodies. I hope that all the wonderful 18th century European architecture hasn't gone under the wrecking ball. >
