  1. Can there be no intelligent discussion in this Forum that in any way discusses Herias? Can we not discuss our irritation with the Israeli government and some major American Jewish organizations vis-a-vis the Genocide without getting down to such comments? There should be never be any discussion in this Forum which mentions the word "Heria."
  2. Bush claimed that he was going to support our cause. Some very powerful Armenians in America supported him. Now I ask you, is the crew around Bush now better or worse for our causes than the crew that surrounded Clinton?
  3. Jewish religious law means nothing. Whatever I know about the Jews is from books, so I see this more clearly. If his father was a Jew, then he is 1/2 Jewish, period. As for Armenians, I grew up removed from the community until my teen years, except for family. We were always culturally outsiders, having been raised among the Anglos. A little perspective and one can see that there are major problems with the Armenian approach. Armenia has been going downhill since the reign of Tigran the Great.
  4. We Armenians should operate from our intellect not from silly misperceptions. Here is the low-down on Paul Newman. Isn't it interesting that while Yeminijian and the MGM brass haven't produced an Armenian movie or sponsored any Armenian actors or actresses, that Weinstein and Lantos, both Jews, pushed Egoyan's Ararat movie and Ahmet Ertegun, a Turk no less, was the key mentor of Cherilyn Sarkissian La Piere? Without Ertegun she would have gone nowhere. There is an Achilles heel in the Armenian community's approach to our issues. From: www.tiscali.co.uk/entertainment/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FILM Biographies PAUL NEWMAN BIOGRAPHY Born: 26 January 1925 Where: Cleveland, Ohio, USA Awards: Won 1 Oscar, 1 BAFTA, 6 Golden Globes Height: 5' 9" Filmography: The Complete List It's not easy for screen mega-stars to grow old gracefully and stay on top at the same time. Tied to the action genre, even Clint Eastwood began to look stale and a little frail, his body too old to convince us he was still a genuine tough guy. Robert Redford meanwhile, chained to his sex symbol image, chose to play only ladykillers, employing ever-softer focus to get away with it. Marlon Brando simply ignored the whole process. There is, though, one old-school superstar who pulled it off without too much of a hitch. Where Eastwood waited for age to make him suitable for Unforgiven, and then slipped back into pretending he was far younger, Paul Newman recognised the passing of time, chose his roles carefully and stuck to his guns. Thus he's the only pretty-boy screen-god to have retained the absolute respect of critics and public alike. This is why he was Sam Mendes' first choice to play gangster John Rooney in Road To Perdition - because he would be wholly on the ball and not the least bit overshadowed by the presence of Tom Hanks or next-generation pretty-boy Jude Law. Indeed, they'd be more concerned that he would blow THEM off the screen. He was born Paul Leonard Newman on the 26th of January, 1925, in Shaker Heights, an affluent suburb of Cleveland. His father, Arthur, was Jewish and ran a profitable sports goods store. His mother, Theresa (nee Fetzer), was Catholic and helped out in the shop, while raising Paul and his brother Arthur (later a producer and production manager). Young Paul was bright and good at sports. He also showed an early interest in theatre, something that Theresa encouraged. He made his acting debut at 7, as the court jester in a school production of Robin Hood.
  5. Arpa, There you go again. Unchanged for 5,000 years? Please! Tell that to every Artunoff and Armenoglu. How about the former Hindustanis who now claim to be Armenians, or the Vanetzi or Tigranagertzi Jews who now claim to be Armenians, the descendants of the Armenians who intermarried with the Mongol lords or the Armenians who are descended from Kermanatzis or Francatzis.
  6. That is not always the case. Barry Goldwater was born to a Jewish father, but was raised as an Episcopalian like his mother. Ditto Paul Newman, who was raised as a Christian. I beleive Goldie Hawn was also raised as a Christian.
  7. After I mentioned the circumstances of our sufferings, a few odar acquaintances asked me where they could get a copy of Peter Balakian's "Black Dog of Fate." Making noise helps.
  8. Edward, AAA has also had a great effect, and I personally agree more with ANCA's endorsements than with the AAA's. For me, however, the Kaloogian endorsement is more than I can stomach. If you have to have a redneck right-winger for that district, I guess its better that they be an Armenian. If I lived there and was still a Republican, I would vote for Bilbray, the moderate over Kaloogian.
  9. Arpa, You have myopia. Obviously, the publishers and senior editors care.
  10. I have supported both these groups politicall and financially. In 2000, working in unison, we came very close to achievung a victory in the US House of Representatives. As for Republican Armenians who support the whole crew of the arch-conservatives in the US there are many, some are even presently running for Congress.
  11. Norair Kevorkian, eminent Armenian hero and Ariel Sharon, hero to many Jews, both committing suicide with their forks.
  12. Arpa, Again, you are true to form. I think that I have you pegged to a "T." Ara B. is an Armenian treasure. It is the conservatives who are the "swines." Let Anahid discourse with whomever she pleases. Please reveal your "official papers" as to your appointment as the prefect for the "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith."
  13. Jew's leaders work to feed their own, while Armenian leaders cannibalize their own. Lest you understand why the Jews succeed and the Armenians fail.
  14. On December 12, Porter Goss, Bush's choice to head the Central Intelligence Agency, met with Turkish military leaders to discuss possible staging for an invasion of Iran, using Turkish military bases to launch the attack. ANCA is just dreaming that our faxes and letters will have any influence with him now. Our only hope is the massive scandal that is brewing due to Abramoff. Hastert is trying to distance himself but may not be able to. We need a change of leadership before we get any traction in the House. That some Armenians still avidly support this guy is beyond belief.
  15. Ara, Are there Armenians who have been killed since 1850 by other Armenians because they have not been deemed to be sufficiently nationalistic or tried to open dialogue with Turks?
  16. Nothing new, Armenian companies sometimes play these games. Levon Travel once left me stranded in a foreign city after taking my money.
  17. This is an issue that should be presented to the ICOMOS central board. It equals the destruction of an ancient Buddhist temple by the Taliban.
  18. Odar persons whom I barely know are coming up to me to discuss the Pamuk case and the destruction of these Khatchkars. The ugly face of the Turkish establishment is showing its face to the world. In the internet age, their every transgression gets international coverage.
  19. I was not referring to a legal precedent in tobacco cases, per se, but the general pecedent that we do not have freedoms carte blanche in the USA. Yes, I had read your comments about your family. Any smoker who knowingly exposes a family member to this deathly pollution should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. By making smokers absolutely miserable, we will stop this scourge. In many offices today even CEOs are forced to stand outside in the street in the rain like lowly beggars to get their nicotine fix. quote name='onnig' date='Dec 23 2005, 01:25 PM' post='160432'] Here we go.... I don't own any stock or work for any tobacco companies, blah blah blah blah. The only brainwashing here is the good kind because I can see through personal tragedy and still perceive the truth by objective reasoning and not personal experiences so my brain has been washed from that kind of clouded sight. Read my earlier posts on how my non-immediate family has been affected by smoking since I believe there might be a lapse in your short-term memory. OK, so, I have made clear that there is no bias or partiality toward tobacco companies; now let's press onto the real issue. You mentioned a "precedent" and yet you have not stated one court case to that fact. I have not seen one smoker being arrested for murder, yet. Therefore you either are misinformed as to the current law, or are confused as to the term "precedent", or just plainly don't know what the heck you're talking about. I think all three are the case. Second hand smoke does NOT kill 100% of the people 100% of the time. If it did then every death today would be related to second hand smoke. It sounds like an absurd fact to point out since common knowledge points to this reality but I think I must state these ridiculous facts since the accusation is itself ridiculous: "They (smokers) should be prosecuted for murder if they pass second-hand smoke to others." There are certain things today that should be considered murder but that's for another time on another thread. Conclusion: Phantom22, look at the facts, not the fluff.
  20. Arpa, I wonder if you and the family of the late doctor whom you admire had any hand in the recent demise of the financial circumstances of Martin and his lovely wife. The Armenian establishment ruined Ara Baliozian and now has another "notch in its gun." It is no wonder that so many of us have put as much distance as possible between ourselves and the community. Dikran Kouyoumjian's sentiments and those of the secretly part-Armenian Gregory Peck make so much more sense to me now.

Get a copy of Dyer's Curriculum Vitae. It will show under whose tutelage his perceptions were cultivated.
  22. As I set up my Christmas decorations (pagan leftover from Roman Saturnalia) and prepare to go to Christmas services at a Protestant church, Martin's comments come to mind.
