  1. Onnig, You are either part of the establishment or have been brainwashed. A central precept of legal precedent in the US is "You do not have the right to falsely yell "FIRE" in a crowded theatre." You have the right to do whatever if it does not negatively affect the rights or well-being of others. Given the proven death rates of individuals subjected to second-hand smoke smokers are murderers if their spouses come down with lung cancer.
  2. Arpa, Please explain your statement "SOLE Disciples of Jesus and the appointed Apostles of God." What are you implying here?
  3. A murder in cold blood. Margarian was killed in his sleep. What could be more cowardly than that? He could not even defend himself in that state. Safarov will either be executed or have a long prison sentence. What is the current state of Hungarian law? Is there a death penalty?

From my understanding the Armenians were targeted as well. They were caught up in the melee that began against the Greeks.
  5. Ruth likes TRADITIONAL Armenians, tied closely to the bosom of the Church and not questioning authority. I think that you fit that bill.

What is REALLY going on is that the Turkish diplomats realize that the issue is not going to go away, so they want to try to find a way to neutralize it. As displayed in my posts in another thread, they want to cut any potential loss of prestge or economic impact. They hope that restoring a few churches, building some kind of Armenian heritage museum in Turkey and acknowledging that a large number of Armenians died due to Ottoman policies will satisfy Europe's concerns. We have given Western apologists such as Dyer a tool to use against us by focusing solely upon the 1915 circumstances, withut emphasizing the atrocities that occurred well-before and well-after these events. The 1955 riots in Istambul and present day policies in Turkey are all part of the big picture of abuse of Armenians and other groups the Turkish state.
  7. Rostom, Your sequencing is faulty. I am speaking of Ruth and HER belief system. If one falls within her purview of acceptable beliefs, she is nice to you. If one does not fall within that purview, her behavior would be markedly different. Besides, I was responding to Karakash's comments, not yours.
  8. Ruth is nice to whom she wants to be and not nice to those she doesn't want to be. Given your comments here in this Forum which reveal your beliefs, I can see why she was nice to you.
  9. Karakash, It is not the person who I think you are guessing. That family were wonderful to me when I dated their relative, me a nobody. Are you sure that who you are thinking of is from North Jersey?
  10. The warnings are often ignored, as they are small and inconspicuous. The ads, however, are large and designed to "catch" impressionable teenagers, who will then be often hooked for life. On another note, if people want to kill themselves by smoking, that is fine with me as long as they lock themselves up solo and away from society. Any second-hand smoke that they produce is detrimental to others. They should be prosecuted for murder if the pass second-hand smoke to others.
  11. Smoking is an addiction. The nicotine is a substance that creates this addiction. Addictions are very difficult to break. Why are there not laws to curtail the operations of those who induce teenagers to smoke?
  12. skhara, The graves of my great-grandfather, grandfather and his brothers were not desecrated. They had no graves at all. After official Ottoman government officials hacked them to death their bodies were left for animals to eat. The rest of our family, save the random few who were out of town, were drowned en masse. I have no rose-colored glasses on concerning the barbarity of our neighbors toward their minorities. Look at the treatment the Kurds get today from the Turkish government and compare that to the treatment of Kurds and Yezidis living in Armenia.
  13. Arpa, Make Skhara "king of Armenia?" Then we go to war with Turkey and Azerbaijan? Perhaps Russia will come to our aid due to their own interests in the Caucasus, perhaps not. Will Iran fight on our side? What about the territory of Iran adjacent to Armenia that is populated mainly by Azeris? Will the US use this altercation as an opening to attack Iran? Will the Greeks forceably try to retake northern Cyprus? This is what you are advocating.
  14. Skhara, You are ruled by your gut and not your brain. Many of the Balkan moslems who were exhiled were common civilians who had converted to Islam for a number of reasons. Not all converted by their own will. Again, you show your hatred for the common Azeri who has suffered. Their blood is a red as ours. You perpetuate the circle of hate. Look at the map, before you perpetuate this cycle. Armenia does not sit in the middle of Western Europe. Your compensation comment again shows your myopia. Do you think that the effects of the Genocide ended with the deaths of the massacred. What happened to those who by some miracle survived? Do you know all their stories? Do you realize that a large proportion of these people were so traumatized that they never married. Other had serious mental problems for the remainder of their lives, the burden of which their families had to carry. Your inane comments do not help our cause. I am one who believes that honest dialogue is our only option. The majority of present-day Turks have been totally brainwashed.
  15. Well you are right, do you have same ideas about Azeris who exiled from ROA? Zurderer, I have stated numerous times in this forum that the treatment of Balkan Moslems by the new nations there in the late 1800's and early 1900's was horrible and very wrong. I have, furthermore, stated that the progeny of these persons, now Turks, should pursue their legal right in these nations to their seized properties. As for the ROA, there are Kurds and Yezidis who are treated very well there. The problems for Azeris in the ROA were caused by the pogroms in Sumgait. These Azeris were exiled after Armenians were being killed indiscriminantly in Azerbaijan. The Azeris brought about the secession of the Armenian province from Azerbaijan. It was by their own hands that this happened. Treat minorities very poorly and you see the results. I do not agree with many of the policies of the Kocharian regime and would like to see an "Apricot revolution" there.
  16. Anahid, Do you think that it is only Armenian women who do this? One of your prominent North Jersey Armenian men was so upset whenever I entered the room. He wanted to be the center of attention all the time, felt it was due him because of the prominence of his family. As for women in business, women were better bosses until the last ten years. Now they are becoming more agressive than men. The culture of the workplace has become very ugly. I blame it upon what is going on at the top, way at the top in the White House.
  17. There, you have it. No, it is a mixed situation for them. It is us in the diaspora who are treated badly. How would you feel if your recent ancestor was a prominent player in Ottoman history, but has been made a non-person by the Turkish government. Our families did not choose to leave. They were decimated and exhiled for the acts of a few. Innocents who were going about their daily business, housework or schoolwork.
  18. Zurderer, You have it all wrong. Our intent is not to harm Turkey. If Turkey approached our issues differently, we could jointly pursue regional economic development. It is Turkey's refusal to budge one iota that is causing these problems. As for the Azeris, they created the situation there due to the pogroms in Sumgait. It all has to do with the treatment of minorities. We are treated fairly in Iran and in the Arab world. Treat us and other minorities fairly and the situation will change.
  19. Zurderer, when your hero Ozal made this statement, he revealed himself to his true character. If he is your hero, then your true character is also revealed. We will never cease to raise these issues, until Turkey comes honestly to the negotiating table. What we have accomplished to date is to make the world see Turkey's true face, which is unlike that which she presents to the world.
  20. They will not freely budge one iota. They have to be harassed into doing what is right. Do you not think, Arpa, that with this whole EU business they have had to compromise just a little. Armenian attorneys have won two cases already against insurance companies and are pursuing a third. Attorney Geragos is contemplating suing Turkey for Armenian assets confiscated. He may not win, but it will keep the issue alive. By keeping the magnifying glass on Turkey, we are accomplishing SOMETHING.
  21. You are right on target Arpa. This is the confession that we have been waiting for. Do you not remember the statements of the Turkish President and Prime Minister Turgut Ozal who stated that if Armenians don't shut up "We will teach them the lessons of 1915."
  22. 90% of Armenians rowdy and vulgar? I must be in a time warp. 25 years ago, we Armenian kids in America kids were refined and polite. Yes, we had some wild times on holiday events at resorts but we were classsyy kids. This new wave of Armenians is nothing like the first wave of the 1920's.
  23. Capitol punishment is not a deterrent to murder. This has been proven numerous times. There is more than one way to kill. The Bush administration are a bunch of hypocrits. Their policies are "killing" many. Do you not think that depriving a person from making a living is not a form of murder? Many are doubling and tripling their immense wealth due to the policies of these so-called Christians while others including former members of the middle class slip into poverty. Furthermore, no one speaks about the American boys and girls dying in Iraq nor the hundreds of thousands of the citizens of Iraq who are dying due to what is transpiring there. Why are the Americans trying to convert Christians in Iraq to fundamentalist Southern-US Christianity? Don't we have enough of those bozos in the US? Do we have to export this idiocy to the Middle East? I am so sick of this idiot in the White House and his corrupt adminstration. When I was growing up Christians acted more like Christians. Bush is a TOTAL fraud.
  24. Azat, How many women have you woken up to lately after a night of lovemaking? Do you have at least 6 over the past two years to compare to? If not we go back to the old story about the beggar who found a $500.00 bill. First he got food, then a shower at the local YMCA. After this, he realized he needed a haircut, some new clothes and a girlfiend. Moral of the story-do you have anything to compare your dream of waking up to the "washed out one?"
  25. Have you ever woken up to a blonde lying next to you with NO makeup? Have you ever seen a picture of Pamela Anderson with no makeup? UGH! Blondes are fine for one-night stands. At least with brunettes God has given them natural makeup. It is no wonder the guys perefer to marry brunettes. As men age their tastes change. As I have aged my preference has changed from blondes to brunettes to exotic types from the Far East.
