yes i've seen it, and i was impressed also, very good storyline and i find that it depicts well the internal organization of the armenian elite and how things really work in our country...the performances: some of them were good but others needed some improvement, but hey its a first in its kind, so we dont complaine, Khoren Levonyan's performance was outstanding, of course...

does anyone have an idea who's singing the song? theres no mention of names anywhere

aghzar, u said: "Gor Mkhitarian is no more "Armenian" music than those other guys are. He just happens to have better taste and copies American folk-rock instead of crap middle eastern pop music. " this right there is a double standard ur setting. why is it ok to copy american folk rock and its not for middle eastern pop? is that cuz u dnt enjoy middle eastern music? so no one should copy it ? is it because in ur head middle eastern music is low class, eventhough it is done way more professionally than alot of american pop? we cannot judge other cultures...and we cannot set double standards, if u want arm channels to stop playin middle eastern influenced music, then i say they should stop playin ALL TYPES of russian music, as well as ALL types of arabic music, italian music, french music, heck they should even stop playin gor mkhitaryan and ruben haxverdyan, whose music have ntohing to do with armenian music...we're left with not much eh... why dont americans have bullshit convos like this? ah shakira has arabic influences in her muisic, thats bad, were fighting the arabs theyre our enemies (in case u didnt notice im bein sarcastic, i dnt really believe in that) so we should ban shakira? this is the type of mentality were pursuing? and havent u noticed, this is the mentality that is responsible for armenian music lacking ANY type of danced music today: every new album that comes out of armenia is filled with boring ballads and slow love songs that all sound like each other; thats because our ppl has found a way to criticize the least oriental influence in the music, after all most of the danceable melodies that u can play at parties and clubs have a bit of that feel, its part of a transition period we have to go thru, we should use that touch (cuz it makes alot of ppl dance) to gradually introduce our own touch, or CREATE our own touch if we havent, and then we can take the oriental influence out once we have settled and achieved a desirable type of armenian music...american music has flourished so much because they lack the old-school mentality we pursue in our community

Anoushik, gamavor's point about the arabic and turkish music music isnt about arabic or turkish rabiz music, its about arabic or turkish music period...ok lets say we put aside turkish, what about the arabic? what is rabiz arabic music? it doesnt even exist, and i understand u said we can play non-rabiz russian music, so that means we can play non-rabiz arabic music too? what is that exactly? arabic music is arabic music, but i am sure that if horizon or any other arm channel played any arabic music, gamavor and many others would still criticize cuz we cannot get past the instant link that comes to our heads when we hear that music: arabic = muslim = turkish = enemy = bad = we shouldnt listen to it (and i add = censorship and double standards) i think its too shallow to convince ourselves that we have nationalistic emotions by ignoring and not listening to turkish music or arabic music...anyone who turly believes in music as an art is way beyond that...
-
actually i think ur wrong on this onw, in no ways am i protecting horizon, i dnt particularly enjoy their programming, but on the contrary, i find that they rarely play rabiz music on horizon tv except for the music shows, most of the time they play the same shushan petrosian or anna khachatryan clip over and over again, cuz since they avoid playin anythin that sounds slightly oriental, they dnt have alot of choices to choose from, heck they even censored aram asatryan many times... as for calling the channel and tashnags name, i find that lacks maturity, and u cannot generalize about a political party from the music that they play on their channel, no one understands that music is way over the political thing, so what if they play arabic (im not sayin tehy do, but so waht if they do?), im sure u wouldnt say the same if they played russian, cuz thats ok...u gotta realize alot of armenians grew up in arab countries and turkey, they are influenced by that, they enjoy that, u cant force ur taste on them sayin that u have a better taste than they do, thats against any kind of free speech principle (and we know the US is strong on that (!) )

wow im shocked at the welcome u gave Delala, Arpa...i mean, that song is just another popular song right now in armenia and its everywhere on tv, just because she posted the link she got the finger? i think thats kind of vulgar on ur part and not thought at all
-
listening to the shiker's remake of et ko sev acherov and namak namak, i couldnt help but realize how good yeghia sanosian's music was, and how much its taken for granted today in the armenian music industry... what do u think?
-
well why do u say that about her demeanor any experiences or stmhn?
-
why do you say that? i find that shushan petrosian is much more modest and humble than nune, and i find that her performances are a notch higher than anyone else in the current pop music scene...
-
and u think every armenian song that comes out should represent us very well? that is not realistic, i mean, half of the songs which were posted in this thread do not represent us...even the slow ballads from arame, for instance...nothin armneian in them, but its pop culture...pop culture is an international genre...if u can incorporate armenian themes in it then good, but i find that song had an armenian theme, or an oriental theme... if were just gona listen to armenian music that represents us well, then we'll be stuck with the old stuff everyone already listens to and there will be no progression...half the music that greeks make today is original songs that have a turkish theme, nothing greek about it, and yet these songs are well accepted, and they get worldwide recognition...
-
i personnaly like that song, i find the music video ok, but we need that kind of music, enough with the remakes, and enough with the stupid ballads and jazzy songs...someone would think armenia's in depression if they listen to our music...we gotta realize that fast music isnt just for weddings, we have no good dance music to play in clubs, like greeks and turks and arabs do..."tes" is a good one... as for ur post, i see where ur coming from, but ur post is filled with hypocritic remarks such as: first...sako"p a s h a" is turkish, and refers to turkish men... "menk hyenk.." and a few words later "DUMBO music"...and u say "meze hamar asank panner chee vayler"? but its ok to say dumbo music right? i know my remarks might seem irrelevant, but what im tryin to point out, is that the music video of "tes" is in no ways non-armenian, so we cant say that its embarrassing for us or that it makes us less armenian...but our words and language used in a non-appropriate fashion CAN make us less armenian...

i said im not going to write a reply but i couldnt resist... firtst of all, sry Revolution2 i dont know of any Armenchik fan clubs on the web... as for the rest, the guy didnt ask for ur opinion about armenchik, he asked if u knew of websites about him why is it that wnvr some1 asks us smthn about a singer we just jump on the opportunity to badmouth the singer if we dnt like them? im not a crazy fan of armenchik, i like him, but my reply has nothing to do with my liking or not, its just a matter of principles...im sure Revolution2 didnt wana know who liked him and who didnt...plz lets stop bashin singers when were not asked to express our opinions, and even if we are to, lets be respectful...for one armenchik might be the worse singer, but for another, ruben matevosyan could be on the same list... (i have nothing against either singers)

well that same beat can be applied to many armenain songs and yet theyre all written in 3/4-6/8...i hope ur not counting the fact that the variation of the beat changes, thats because i havent practiced on that beat for a while, so it took some time to get into the correct variation, but just like on keyboards u can choose a rhythm and it has like 2 or 4 variations, the ones im playing are variations of the same beat, as in the same time signature, except sometimes we hit the bass drum twice (with a slight pause in between) and the snare once, or the bass drum twice, the snare, the bass drum again then another snare, but both are the same time signature...or else the keyboard wouldnt accept it anyways, i dono if i explained it clearly...lol if i find time ill do the same thing with an armenian song which has a simple 3/4 beat ...

u click on the yellow box on the right that says Click here to start download...

yes i know lol, but thats only when there are actually different time signatures...when u can write all of them on the same time signature no one would complicate matters like that...i know in armenian too there are some scores which have different time signatures, but what u guys are proposing is to have 2 time signatures 3/8, then one 4/8, then one 5/8 (i think those are the numbers) and then back to 2 x 3/8, etc. when u change time signatures, normally its for small parts here an there, and theres no short distance pattern, however in our case all these fit on the same rhythm... check out the file i uploaded with the keyboard
