Armat
Armat, Dude you are Good! Your style amazingly resambles the style of another Armenian by name Edward (don't remember his last name, but I will try to find some of his works on line. He is pretty well known). Gamavor thanks for your comment but I did look his work up and his style is very different then mine.He has a very heavy dose of Miro, Gorky influance so much that it takes away.I like his use of color and compositions. gamavor
Yes, you are right I realized that after viewing his works. Nevertheless something in one of your works evoked similarities.
Dan
I haven't read all the answers, so I'm not following the discussion... but my favourite artist is Salvador Dali. That guy is a freakin' genius. Or maybe he was on opium..  just take a look at this one heh: http://dali.karelia.ru/images/works/1936_05.jpg There's a gallery of his works online: http://dali.karelia.ru/html/galleries.htm And for all the Van Gogh admirers: http://www.vangoghgallery.com/ And a great site that has European paintings from 1150-1800: http://www.kfki.hu/~arthp/ And this site is good too: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/

Anileve
Guys you are really pushing my bottoms, must it be that a painting should contain “Masis” to resemble Armenia? That is a road in an Armenian village. I am sorry I couldn’t find anything more nationalistic on the internet; if there was a painting of Ararat I would have posted it by now to satisfy your curiosity. vava
You're all hilarious. So what's the significance of the glove on the floor? Something forgotten perhaps? Misplaced? Lost, albeit temporarily? Hmmmm
Sip
Guys you are really pushing my bottoms, must it be that a painting should contain “Masis” to resemble Armenia? Well, up until this point, I thought that was a requirement. Actually, having never been to Armenian, I imagine from everywhere you can see the mountains. But then I realized that I lived in Los Angeles for more than a decade and never once did I see the hollywood sign on the hill (true story). But in all seriousness, I am curious to know what is Armenian about that painting. The road certainly does create a longing mood or something indicating you are far from home ... also it would be interesting to know the significance of the gloves ... one being on the floor on the other sticking out from the drawer. I have to say that the tools facing each other on the desk could be influenced by "socialism" but I think I am looking too much into it. Accelerated
Hey Armat, a different sort of work of art that you might appreciate (judging by your avatar)  http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products/mcy/500/04R1_red_4_1734.jpg more HERE
gamavor
Guys, It is not about the gloves, neither the tools on the desk...everything is there in one form or another....the most important thing is missing! The Subject! Person! The HUMAN! The one that has neighbours and friends and memories.. Â Â Sometimes I hate myself!

Please give credit to the appropriate party. As I will to gamavor for his brilliant explanation of the general idea behind the painting.  I don’t really like the word nationalistic, but the painting is certainly Armenian. The colors are very traditional colors of Armenia in autumn, they are more drained and nostalgic, the painting within the painting is a road in an Armenian village. The painting of the jacket without a person is symbolic of memories like gamavor exquisitely phrased.  And perhaps for someone who is originally from Armenia the colors and the scenery is very traditionally Armenian without having any national components such as Ararat, flag or lavash. Hagop is very good at conveying the image of Armenia through his painting of Aremnian people, still life or landscapes for that matter. And for all of you who wish to see something more nationalistic, here is another painting by him, undoubtedly Armenian I suppose. I personally like the previous one better. Since it is precisely the absence of a clear nationalism and a soul of Armenia that he portrays. But to each his own.  http://www.legacy-project.org/arts/pics/h/hagopiancaptured01_md.jpg

To me there is not Armenian subject matter in that painting. Although I do appreciate the painting for what it is.
