Here is a sketch I did today... I hope it's OK that I keep posting my stuff.

Like many Armenians, I always thought that Martiros Saryan was a great painter. To my deepest disappointment, I have mentioned his name to many artists in the US, and nobody ever heard of him. I thought maybe these people were ignorant, so I checked online. Almost in all cases only Armenian sources talk about him. If he is really great, why is that the case? I personally like his paintings and colors, but... objectively speaking, he is not great at all. He is not even a known, good painter in the world art world, unfortunately. But it always gives me joy that Arshil Gorky, on the other hand, is a very well known, major artist. And it is always acknowledged that he was born in Armenia, the sad story of his mother, genocide, etc... In his case, it's not just Armenians but everyone.

Funny I was also in Tbilisi last month. Here is an Armenian church (I think Surb Gevorg, but not very sure about the name). Ashot jan, chisht em hishum? I visited the Armenia pantheon, it's sad. it used to be a huge territory with a garden etc. and great Armenian intellectuals buried there. They have moved all the grave tombsto a small area and built that huge church in it's place. Actually the church is pretty nice and good architecture, but why did they have to destroy the Armenian stuff to build their church. I am sure they could have found another spot for that. Well well...

Ashot jan, the drawing (black and white) is of my dad. Yeah, he sure is Armenian but the painting is abstract, as you can see. What about Azat?

Wow! I can't believe it was 7 years ago when Armat started this discussion! Man, times goes fast.... Is Armat around? I would love to discuss art again. BTW, I have been painting for the last 1.5 years or so, mostly in the abstract geometrical (hard edge) style.
