Maral
Armat,I very much enjoyed looking at your paintings and drawings...great great work.Do you sell your work?Or is it just for you? I have a cousin in the Boston area who also does paintings...I think she mainly uses melted,or softened, crayons among other mediums....I like that look of the softened crayon. I send my two older daughters to art class...I don't know what they are learning though...they pick pictures to replicate, then the teacher gives them a little instruction, they stary drawing and the teacher comes over and helps them with details...they start with ,can't remember what it is called...but it's awfully messy...chalk maybe?and the older one has moved onto watercolors... I dont' have many choices where I live for quality art classes...I want for them to have this opportunity to grow and learn about art...I have many times tried to use it as a hobby,as therapy, but real life gets in the way sometimes eh? What would you do in a situation like this? Continue with the so-so classes?(I must admitt they have brought home some adorable pictures, the chalk ones are humongous,I guess it makes it easier for the younger ones to control, and the water colors are great too now...I'm hoping they will have the artistic abilities that my late uncle has and that runs in my fathers family, since I couldn't capture that talent I want them to,no pressure there huh? ) Is it better just to let them do it on their own...I dont' like this idea though, too messy at home for now(they are young)and like it did for me,I'm sure other stuff will get in the way of them progressing.. Are there books? What do I do,I'll let them start and stop other types of extra classes...but not art,so far they enjoy it,thank goodness. Maybe this should of been a pm huh??? Is it illegal if I copy and print your pics and put them on my wall????
Anileve
"Isolation" I did this painting last night ,I am still not sure of its quality Armat jan, I am absolutely in love with “Isolation”, it's breathtaking! There is something about silhouette or obscure figures of women amidst a gloomy background, that is very enchanting. A while ago my friend and I, took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for an exhibition on Mesopotamia. And along the way there are many artists lined up, selling their amateur work and some sell replicas of original work. At that period of time I was on a strict budget and promised that I will refrain from buying anymore “things”, yes things, my room is cluttered with souvenirs, paintings, books, CDs and many other trinkets. As I was passing by this echelon of artists, my gaze fell upon this one particular table with a few photographs of a very unique and unconventional imagery, which seemed to stand out among all the other cloned exemplars. The photographer happened to be from “Odessa” and had very sad and expressive eyes, a thick chestnut colored beard and a warm smile. He was the only one among all the other “aspiring artists” who didn't push his merchandise on anyone and stood their eager to answer questions. All his photographs were amazing with a sense of melancholy, but one in particular just hypnotized me. And although I was on a budged my desire transcended my discipline. He was kind enough to sell it to me for whatever I was willing to pay him, simply because we were “neighbors”, as he pointed out when he asked for my nationality, and because I fell in love with the photo. Now it hangs across my bed, it feels like it just belongs only here. Your paining reminded me of my photo, same traces of nostalgia and illusion. Here is the original one and the one I enhanced my self. If you can guess, it's a silhouette of a woman behind a mosaic glass door, a very interesting concept. I am also fascinated with the work of a famous photographer who mastered shooting through rainy windows and lenses with droplets of water, the images have a bit of a blurred effect. I still don't remember his name, although I wish I did, then I could have bought some of his replicas. I feel like I am writing a short story here, and all I wanted to say is that I am simply in love with “Isolation”, thanks Armat jan. vava
Very nice - thanks for sharing I see the semblace in feel between Isolation & the photo... Armat, I couldn't explain before, but I was quite moved by Isolation as well. That 'strange balance' I referred to earlier, I think it could be better described as serenity/melancholy - thanks Anileve for reminding me of my vocabulary
Armat
Maral j. Thanks for your interest in Art.I will answer all your questions. Do I sell my work? Yes I do and I have lot of original prints (meaning each print is signed and color applied in a particular way hence can not be replicated) that I sell around $50.00 not framed. Think about this, lot of people buy a poster for that price. Paintings range from 500.00 up to 6.000.00 Art classes for kids. Right from the start your attitude is very important and your hesitation of making the house messy. The mess is part of the fun of making Art and your kids must feel comfortable. Set aside a corner “studio” for them and cover the floor, set up an easel and a table and tell them that it is their personal studio. I work differently with kids. I never draw or correct over their work. I teach the principles of color, perspective etc. without making it looks difficult. The idea is to make it fun. I also send my kids to piano and chess lessons (where all my income goes) but I think it is important as a parent to give an opportunity for kids to try things out and see if they like. I have no problem of you doing anything you like with my Art. I believe Art is an unselfish production and once it is created then it must live in others as well. Here are my boys at "work"

Harmony in its finest! And the word that would have described my feeling is "moved", thank YOU for reminding me. Armatick, you have the cutest little Armenian cherubs with those adorable curly curly locks adorning their tiny heads.
Maral
Oh look at those little artists...absolutely precious! I like to keep the kids busy too...they take Piano,Art and French classes...I've always had a vision of setting up two chairs and a table in front of a window to play chess one of these days I will do it ...when they are out of school, there are always big messes on the kitchen table...yes you're right, they should be able to make a mess and learn and have fun...and it keeps them away from me for a few hours I guess I'll continue with the art classes until I find something better. I picked several of your paintings I want to hang in my room! I'll have to visit and pick a few up the next time I'm in Ma.! And let us know when that web page of yours is done! Armat
I finished this one few hours ego. I was trying to achieve tension and organic form resembling a figure but not vivid. I am always fascinated by the idea of internal reality pulling and stretching much like what takes place inside us.. figure #911 Edited February 29, 2004 by Armat

Anileve
These two pieces are from an Armenian artist. I find the blue one very serene, the colors are very luscious.

Azat
I know you are going to think that I am an a-hole now(well I am sure you thought this for a long time.) but those two paintings do not provoke anything in me. sorry
Sip
The blue one does have nice colors ... my attention first focused on the chinese looking symbols on the lower left (white) .. not sure what those are other than maybe light shadows? The lower one looks almost like a photo. I hope that guy is smooth in what he is whispering otherwise it doesn't look like she's going to give it up. ... though if I had to label the second pic, I'd call it "wedding night of the virgins" ... I am also willing to bet their entire families are hiding behind that carpet in the back just waiting to come check the sheets after the consumation.
