    Impressions Of The Day

Sip - thats an awesome looking trail. I used to take an old Toyota I had back on all sorts of "jeep" trails (mostly in California and some in Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Colorado) - in both the desert and in the mountains - but never one that looked nearly as rough as that one! Enjoy! And I'm glad to hear that you are environmentally conciencious - as I have seen (and confronted...tjhough to little avail) those yahoos too! (I am a card carrying member of the Sierra Club BTW (since about 1982...) as well as NRDC and other "radical" environmental groups...LOL. I love backcountry camping...and have been to some places that, well, no jeep, humvee or whatever could ever manage to get too...(like the top of half dome in Yosemite for instance)...though I've done a lot of back country car camping as well..ussually while rockhounding (gemstones etc...not hopping on them with the car...but that too once in a while...you'd be surprised...).
  2. Just checked her out. She seems like a very nice/together gal - all around...ad certainly looks pretty good. A fine catch for some lucky guy i should think. I wish her well... (only concern is her obsession wit BMWs...LOL)
  3. LOL - bruin - your last posts really cracked me up. But seriously - I am sorry for your desperation etc. My first advice is don't be - and don't be in such a rush (to find your dream guy or long term partner or whatever...and of course - don't force it). Secondly - I can't think that there aren't some nice guys out there to at least date or such...you may just be setting the bar too high...and you may be mnissing out (on at least some fun times...and you never know...). Of course I'm not advocating dating a baboon (or the male equivilant in attitiude/behavior or such). And I think you might have some success by joining a club or group. I always found that I met really nice people (gals...but there seemed to be a lot of nice guys too...) in hiking/backpacking club...and you'll get some good exercise and nice nature excursions too - and experieince some of the beauty of the world. And there are other activities of the sort as well. And if your looking for guys with bucks - perhaps sailing club, scuba diving or something to do with golf or horses. Another activity that worked well for my sister (who was always interested in meeting guys with money...LOL) was to go to fundraisers/benefits and other such (black tie type) events...a little stuffy for my tastes - but it all depends what your after I guess... anyway best of luck - and don't get too negative nor depsperate - in fact I think its better to wait (before big time commitment)...but fun to play the field and meet new interesting people in the meantime...and of course its nice to work up a sweat, let off some steam and experieince some tenderness (and roughness), and just nice physical contact...with some signifigant other or another or such....certainly wish I was young(er!) again...!
  4. Just curious - are you planning to shoot it in Karabagh? And what actors will you use - Armenians from Armenia? And what language (I assume Armenian...)...just curious. I am a filmaker (of sorts) as well...but unfourtunatly I cannot help you with sponsorship (or probably anything much of substance)...but best of luck (tell us more....have you written a script - or do you have one...etc - and what will the story be about...?)...will you have much of a "crew" etc (or need for such...) and how far along are you - have you storybarded the production at all? Will you basically edit on a PC (or Avid or such)? (very amazingly capable....)

    I Found The Devil

I agree - Ticketmaster and their ilk suck. I used to live very close to the greek...and I knew of a spot...just down a bit and over from the obseratory...where it was possible to see a show without paying....could i find it now...don't know really...but saw many a show from their sitting on a blanket with a companion...pretty much all to ourselves...couldn't beat it really...

Vava - Yea verily...LOL...hey I don't have "cucumber envy" - LOL - even if i could never hope to measure up to the real mosnster ones - LOL...actually i quite enjoyed "cucumber fun"! - LOL And now I'm married - LOL (not to her...)
  8. WOW - this is awesome. I'd love to do something like this (unfoutunatly can't swing it this year)...is anyone attending? they should video the lectures and such...or at least print up some sort of booklet after...
  9. This sucks...can any of our more capable members give this guy a hand? I'm just a hardware guy (think Dirty Harry - 357 mag & such...LOL) not astute about these sorts of thing...
  10. Bruin - My impression (and I know its not an accurate survey or anything) - is that most Turkish youth have barly even heard of an Armenian nor do they care. Those that have heard of Armenians have basically had them portrayed as subversives and terrorists who irrationally hate Turks - that sort of thing. I'm sure some (a very small minority) may be more educated and have attempted to look beyond the myth/rhetoric of Turkish history as presented and discover for themselves...but few really have much access to materials...only perhaps whats here on the internet...and that can be pretty mixed/dubious at best.... The last time I was in Turkey I was sitting at a bar one evening and had been carrying on a very nice conversation with this very cute (blond!?) Turkish gal who was tending bar. We were talking about her desire to visit the US, her family, where they were from etc...pretty involved actually...and then, of course she asked about my family (and why was I here in Turkey - that kind of thing)...well I spoke about where my family was from and such - and she asked if I still had relatives in Turkey - I said - no not likely and preceeded to tell her that I was Armenian. I had to repeat it - (even using "Ermeni") about 3-5 times...she still had no clue what I was talking about...so she went over to another bartender (older guy) and I could see him explaining something...well she quickly looked over at me wide eyed...then lokked down, away, etc and got busy cleaning glasses and such (at the back of the bar)...and never again even came back to talk...

Azat - yeah downtown...I used to eat a Phillips all the time..great place (I used to work downtown...at the [poor excuse for a ] World Trade Center building)...and lots of nice little Chinese places just up a few blocks. Funny though - never ate at the Pantry...a great shame and such an oversite on my part. And it was always a fav of my Rock & Roll (musicsan) buddies...as it was open all night (I was always partial to Canters over Fairfax way...). Anyway...wonder if the Kosher Buritto is still around...LOL And bruin, well, yeah, (good) food is great/great fun...but some of us get excited/worked up about/over other things...(Sip when he sees a big rock for instance...)... And Sip - sorry toe hear about that fuel tank (but, I mean, well, its not like you didn't have something to do with it...)...I need a new tank in my Mustang...but thats due to old age/rust etc...which reminds me - I really must get that done...(its not goof if i fill up over 1/2 way...)
  12. I've also heard report that in this last week there was broadcast on Turkish national television a program denyoing the Genocide in great detail - and of course accusing the Armenians of such against the Turks. Aparently it drew a great deal from the works of McCarthy (I think he may even have been featured on the program). Thats about all I know - I'll pass on more details when and if I get any...

And Seaphan - you continue to amaze me (though not in positive ways...LOL). And I though I was about the most Americanized Armenian on the planet - clearly I am not. To prefer the processed, homoginized product (ketchup) to the real thing (tomatos)...you have truly embraced the Dark Side (Americana)...LOL. Obviously you have never had a decent garden grown tomato. I'd offer from my own garden - but haven't grown any (shame) in the last few years because of deer - they eat the plants right down to the ground. Should be less of a problem now (habitat ruinization...ah progress...) so I may put some in this year 9though haven't got to it yet...but next year certainly...) Your a poor excuse for an Armenian buddy...LOL

Ha! ...I really hope that was a joke bruin...as I seriously doubt that a cucumber - no matter how well manipulated...well..you know what I mean...I certainly don't fear the comparison (utility/satisfaction index...etc)...LOL...though I once had a girlfried who would send me out shopping for her/us and she was always very specific concerning dimensions of the cucumbers she wanted me to pick up...and speaking from experience (well as an eyewitness) not all cucumbers really hold up as well under conditions of direct abuse as the average man might under similar circumstances..LOL...though I'm sure this is a very debatable point... Anyway I have a cucumber story for you'all...but due to rating limits of this forum it will have to wait until some sort of offline get together (offsite...as it were)...and its not really that funny - so don't get your hopes up...(though it is a true story...)

Azat...hmmm surely tempting (the silver Oak)...but no amount of Salmon will do it for me, sorry - just not my cup of tea. An interesting tidbit about Salmon - a very good friend of mine is a public interest/citizens advocate/whatever attorney who was involved in brining a class action suit against retailer supermarkets etc for not lableing hatchery salmon as having color added (which they all do...as they don't get the right kind of pink brine shrimp in their diets so look all grey and disgusting...) as required by federal regs...he says that they are basically complying with this now (so check the fine print...not that I'm doubting the veracity of your claim...not that I even care...etc)...anyway...

    Impressions Of The Day

No offense taken I hope...just having a bit o fun...(and hopefully not at your expense...laughing along with you - yes?) Past, present and future you say....somehow this is reminding me of a Christmas Story...and I can just picture you as this fuse burning very fast, with some pop crackles along the way...I hope that for your sake - you will find a Mr Future that has what it takes to remain Mr Present and where you can forget about all the Mr Pasts...but if not I guess as long as you are enjoying the ride...and there is certainly pleasure in change (the new) and variety...though sounds like you are having to ride out some rough spots along the way... So August you say...I actually might be able to make such a gathering (and would too enjoy seeing folks and putting faces to names and such...and my mouth has been watering for Azat's Silver Oak wine...)...or I might not be going anywhere at all (busy...busy) or I might be taking off to some remote places vary far from LA (my preference if it works out) - yes, far away from LA in more ways then one... Names and personalities...perhaps...I've certainly been told by folks that I match up well with mine...though others (online) have said that the THOTH moniker fits me well...perhaps both are true...

Stormy - yeow! LOL ...remember though - they were dwarves in height alone...who is to say that they were not men of "stature" in other respects...but of course...not wanting to get the prince all worked up they likely thought it best to just lend Ms White a hand or such...and likely found other paths and avenues for their (innocent little white girl) pleasure...LOL...and I'm not surprised she checked "clean" even after going off with the prince...he did seem a bit...well you know (with a name like "charming")...anyway...

Well Hye...to the degree that you feel my little fairy tale princess actually describes you I will leave for you to decide...LOL.. ...and if you have found Mr Right (not sure this is an absolute truth type of value..) - well more power to you (and I am very happy for you)...even if he does (feel the need to..LOL) drive a Corvette...(but are you also implying that he is a spoiled rich kid?)...anyway, not that it matters, but car wise I probably put racer boy to shame...LOL...one advantage to being older (funny typed it as odder at first...that too I guess)...and having a bit O money...then again maybe he is your sugar daddy or some such - eh? And even I might call him "gramps"...LOL And no, haven't back channeled anyone concerning your pic - curious - sure...but certainly not obsessed or otherwise overly bothered...I'm sure your just lovely though... LOL

    Impressions Of The Day

Agreed...oh and I was just following the famous story (of your namesake)...you know - little house in the woods, lots of little slob dwarves happy and care free, pretty little lost girl who cleans up the place but forever complicates their lives, then of course she rejects the loving devoted straight-up working class guys for some spoiled rich kid from the city who drives a german sports car...you know the story...happens every day...and they lived miserably ever after... But seriously, yeah sure - it would be fun...of course you could always email me/us a pic...I promiss not to be too critical ( )...LOL....and for me - just think Francis Ford Cuppola (well everybody says that...and I am a movie producer...of a sort...)...but of course I'm not quite so old and (not nearly so) out of shape...
  20. Great stuff - thanks mosjan, et al. I am a huge apricot fan. We have a bowl full of fresh apricots in the kitchen even as I speak, we have apricot jam, apricot sauce (somewhat like apple sauce but with apricots...Trader Joes...what can I say...), dried apricots (I don't ever canoe or camp without them...) and an apricot tree in the yard (along with about a dozen other fruit trees of various sorts - some fairly exotic). The apricot - and I forgot the name of it - but its unique in that its pits can be dried an eaten without soaking/preparation and basically they taste like almonds...so the tree does double duty - fruit and nuts....yeah - the squirrels love them...LOL (I have pretty much lost that battle...)

    Impressions Of The Day

Bruin - yeah - I gotta admit...I never wanted to give it up (boyhood...and all the iresponsibility and fun times that go along with it...in a sense who [rationally] would really...I mean look at Sip...life is bliss...LOL)...and to some degree I still don't (in a certain sense...certain attitudes etc...I hope I can always keep a "young" perspective)...but I think I've been able to strike a good balance...and always have - even when i was younger (i was very responsible you know...took heavy loads at school...always worked 2 jobs...that sort of thing...probably atypical for a non-immagrrant...LOL). Its funny how many people who have known me since high school - or who I have recently seen that I knew in high school tell me that I haven't changed one single bit - that I am (essentially) the very same person (and how many can really say that?)...I know it may sound bad...but its not really, in some sense it is a testament to how together I was at an early age and that I was my own person even then (always was, always will be...) - etc and thats just carried through. Of course I have grown/matured much as well (one would certainly hope so - no?)- though my core person is essentially the same...(for instance - and to make my point - I make sure I attend all my black tie high school reunions wearing the very same Zappa Sweatshirt that I wore in High Schol (LOL)...I keep it pretty nice BTW and only bring it out for special occasions)...but I degress...certainly if I would have know then and in my 20s etc what I know now....I actually would have been even wilder/less reserved I think...but I also certainly would have done much better with the ladies...LOL...but those I did have relationships with were certainly treated pretty well - I was never a shit or nasty etc nor did I ever ignore their needs (not at least that I can recall..LOL..no actually I always treated my lady friends very very well...and I still maintian some contact/friendship with several ex's...and my wife has met [and knows] several of them as well...we've even travelled to visit one ex a couple of times...) ...but - I was trained well (by somewhat older women initially) and at a relatively early age (so I never became one of these more questionable male types...if I would ever would have - don't know...I'm just a naturally sensitive guy...though not univerally of course...)...and I have always valued that (my "training") ...and I think it has done me well...and in turn I feel that I have always treated women well and understood their needs and perspectives (though no universals here) perhaps more then most (still baffeled as hell a great deal of the time though...admitedly...but at least I know not to expect to have the answers and that being blind sided is all part of the equation....LOL)...ramble ramble...OK enough of that.

Sorry guys - but I agree 100%...really. I don't know - but this just seems so obvious to me...and I fully think you can accomodate/live up to (etc) this (happily/with joy etc) and still be a "Macho" guy (or whatever). One area where I've never had a problem (pretty much) is communication and talking things out with my gal. I don't see this as a burden at all (per se) - Sure - sometimes she/they want to discuss things in gory detail - right now - etc and you aren't in the mood - and sometimes this can create friction (I understand this very well)...but in general showing her some caring affection..I mean she is a beuatiful female - they should be showered with affection and all that.. ... I don't know...heh - I'm not whipped, really...I'm as much of a man slob as the next guy... Oh and Bruin - was my prior response at all helpful? - you didn't comment...
