Nakharar
My first reply was Québec Ville, but then the only place I have been to in Canada was Montreal. Nice city. A francophone city in a very American looking setting still seems pretty amazing to me.
Stormig
Dear me, just realised this one of mine has been left unanswered: You've seen it in Harry Potter movies. It's in Oxford.
Nakharar
Domino, whatever you say, a visit to Copenhagen where those lovely office secretaries get to tan topless in public parks should definitely be one of your top priorities. I would visit that city just for this, at any day you care to mention.
Azat
Dear me, just realised this one of mine has been left unanswered: You've seen it in Harry Potter movies. It's in Oxford. No it was not. I answered it.

Azat
Nakharar, are you going to give us any clues?
Azat
here is one that you all probably will know. I did nto take the picture, but been there twice. Once in 81 and another in
Nakharar
You were very close with the first two countries. Azat, I practically gave it away to you now. You'd better be the first one to come up with the answer.
Nakharar
I know that place. It used to be just opposite the old Senate building where someone famous was stabbed a couple of times.
Stormig
No it was not. I answered it. OK, I meant identified.
Stormig
here is one that you all probably will know. I did nto take the picture, but been there twice. Once in 81 and another in 94 I know where it is. Except I couldn't remember that there actually was the obelisk/fountain in front of the rotunda. You know, the one with a hole on top. Stormig
Thus the reason I dated a Dane for a long long time. Have been to Denmark twice. LOVE it. I heard Danes don't wash hence have naturally extra smelly armpits. Is that true? I am the culprit - I started the whole thing with the French armpits. http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=49...ndpost&p=104548

Stormig
OK, get ready to be grossed out if you don't know about this concept already - what are these two? They are in different countries (Iran and India, respectively) but serve the same purpose. http://s94772541.onlinehome.us/cont13.jpg http://s94772541.onlinehome.us/cont14.gif

Stormig
Those are Zorastrian funeral areas are they not. Yup, they are Zoroastrian towers of silence, or Towers of Silence. They leave their dead in these confines, naked, to be stripped bare to the bones (don't know what they do with the bones later if they're not carried away) by birds - in fact, in the second picture, the tower is the one in Mumbai, India, with the birds being vultures. I rather recently listened to a Parsee from India who told us about their religion and famous Zoroastrians (some of them - including Freddy Mercury - on British stamps) and all that. Someone asked about the towers of silence, and while he said that today Zoroastrians were perfectly happy to comply with the rules in their country of residence, the Parsees of India had started to be concerned with the development around their one tower of silence in Mumbai - huge, tall buildings, disconcerting the vultures. So, he said, they had had to recruit ornithologists on how best to redirect the vultures to the tower for their daily fodder.
Stormig
Karogh gordzum en, like they're supposed to! Seems more to me like it's the weekend - so likely they're taking Wednesdays off like lazy Greek Cypriots!
