bellthecat
Get a life, get a girlfriend, and piss off and leave me alone! Hmmm, deja vu. Yesterday I was browsing some very old postings on a certain now all but dead message board (hint, begins with M, ends with F). And there was you saying the exact same thing to some guy named Edward. And a year or so later weren't you saying the exactly the same thing to someone else named Sherman? But this is a photo contest only, not a find the url contest. Stormig
You can't mistake the minarets Since you're so keen, let's see how you handle that one :Â http://s94772541.onlinehome.us/la1.gif http://s94772541.onlinehome.us/la2.jpg http://s94772541.onlinehome.us/la3.jpg

Nakharar
Now you really got me confused. A Gothic Church with a minaret??? I have to solve that before I leave. In which Muslim country do they have gothic churches? I'm going to lose my sleep over this.
Stormig
Now you really got me confused. A Gothic Church with a minaret??? I have to solve that before I leave. In which Muslim country do they have gothic churches? I'm going to lose my sleep over this. Mwahaha, I knew it. And I've actually been there. I'll give you a hint - it is right up the alley of a certain ghost town you know.
Nakharar
What are those those British conquistadors doing there?
Stormig
Not British.
bellthecat
In which Muslim country do they have gothic churches? I'm going to lose my sleep over this. In a country where they have all but eliminated the Christian population. Well that could include so many places, but Gothic means catholic Europe. And elimination means Turk. Put the two together and you get Cyprus. Famagusta. Former cathedral of St. Nicholas.
Stormig
Another hint - well, if valid - the Gothic style of this cathedral was designated as "southerly European"... Come on, the hint I gave you should make it a piece of cake.

Nakharar
Thanks for the hint. That was easier than I thought. Stormig
BTW, for the smart arses around here, the Nepalese grade school friend of mine who works for PriceWaterhouseCooper in Nicosia said he was amazed at the way Greek Cypriots' mouths were agape with awe when a Turkish Cypriot recently made Cypriot citizen started working there, and there have been no Turkish Cypriots to fill the position of vice president in the Republic of Cyprus since 1974, and the owner of the hotel we stayed in when in Girne had his property in Paphos, where he is originally from, demolished, he found out when he went back to see what had become of it. Angel Greek Cypriots, gotta love'em.
Stormig
Are those really minarets??? I would suspect it would be a church in Italy (or some such place) recently left over to Muslims because of lack of congregation, but that sort of thing doesn't happen in Italy, does it? Nakharar
Let's play Cowboys & Indians or to put it correctly Turks & Greeks! (or vice versa)

Nakharar
Hint: Turks gave them the inspiration.
Stormig
Then it is not in Italy? Those columns just look too much like the ones I've seen in Italy, except they're memorials on their own, pagan, and I have no idea what they have to do with a church unless someone is doing nostalgia. I haven't been elsewhere like Spain or Portugal, so I am clueness. Why no hints?
Stormig
The inspiration of appending minarets? That is self-evident.
bellthecat
Let's play Cowboys & Indians or to put it correctly Turks & Greeks! (or vice versa) That would be an insult to cowboys if you were a traditionalist, or to Indians if you were a revisionist. Â Looks vaguely like the Escorial, near Madrid (dome is very nearly the same) so it probably is somewhere in Spain. There are plenty of churches in Italy, especially Venice, that have minaret-inspired belltowers.
Nakharar
There has been some interaction or "slight" confrontation between those two empires.
