Sasun
I never understood why people buy a pick up truck and never carry stuff in it? I asked a friend who had one, he said he likes to be independent in case he has to move. Sounds like a stupid explanation...

THOTH
No angel - I meant that in all seriousness...regarding cars of course - I've always liked smaller, nimble (and quick) cars....but yes you do seem very bright...and I like that in a gal (and in all people) too... I asked a friend who had one, he said he likes to be independent in case he has to move. Sounds like a stupid explanation... Some of the pickups do great offroad. Pickups in general are built tougher than SUVs... although my blazer is based around the ZR2 pickup chasis and then has the "suv" looking body. The toyota TRD line of trucks are excellent offroad. I have wheeled with quite a few of them and they do fantastic.

Sip
http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/gal/Soggy/images/DCP_1148.jpg I keep mine really clean Like this and this. For that second one, look at the spare and then look at the rear wheel ... that was some NASTY mud we had to cross and I had no doors. The level came up all the way to the ledge of the door .. some guy with a jeep higher than mine hit a deep rut and scooped up a bunch of that nasty stuff in his vehicle ... had to take everything out and dump fresh water to wash it out and get rid of the smell. Fortunately I was very careful and very lucky.  If you want to see more dirty trucks, check out here ... Interestingly enough, the top three vehicles sold in the US this year until July were Full Size Trucks (in terms of quantity)! If memeory serves me right, 1) Ford F150 (maybe 350?)2) Chevy Silverado 3) Dodge RAM
Sasun
Oh, some crazy people in that link. Do you have two dirty trucks now instead of one? That's a bit of a truck-fanatic thing

Accelerated
About bloody time: HIPO MAZDA6 FOR MELBOURNE SHOW Mazda is expected to roll out a performance version of almost every model in its lineup over the next few years that in Australia, will run under the banner of Mazda Performance Series. The first car will be the MPS Mazda6, which was shown as a concept at the Paris motor show in 2002 and will take centre stage at the Melbourne motor show next month. Although not yet confirmed for production, senior Mazda executive Stephen Odell suggests the car will hit the streets. The show car, based on the Mazda6 hatch, uses a 206kW/360Nm turbocharged version of the 2.3-litre engine to drive all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.  "That wasn't a flight of fantasy. We are going to have to start delivering on those," says Odell. "For me Mazda is a brand that should have a flavour of sports car in almost everything we do. The base architecture of the 3 lends itself superbly well to that, you can already get a V6 engine in the car. You could also say that RX-8 offers that opportunity in its lifecycle." Mazda's performance products division will be a global operation along the lines of BMW's M division and will be called either MPS or Mazdaspeed. Mazdaspeed has been deemed not suitable for some European markets and Australia because of the connotations. The first MPS Mazda6 could be on sale here within 18 months. http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/content/reviews/mazda/2004MPS601b.jpg Should add some more street cred to my car
gevo27
I have a truck, and when i was buying it it seems like noone wanted to sell me a 4x4 one.. they all kept asking me,, well its a waste of gas and do you really need 4x4.. im like.. DUDE! im not stupid.. lol....  Iv used my truck for everything, literally..  offroading, trail riding (basically offroading, but longer distance) moving--yeah that is an excuse sometimes work.. in construction business hauling my dirt bike hauling my dog pulling trailers (livestock) taking trash to the dump YUCK!!!! and attempted rookies rock climbing,, lol. it was sad, i started teetertoering on front back opposite side wheels, and barely got out without rolling.. ---ill never listen to my friend again! oh i will post some pics when i get a freegin scanner... lol
Sip
Cool gev ... what kind of truck is it and what trails and where did you take it? It's around southern cali I'll probably know it... yah and never never never ask ANYTHING from any sales guy ... they are all idiots. I was looking for a 4x4 2-door Rodeo (aka Amigo) around 2001 and they couldn't find me a single one around LA for weeks. So the guy tells me oh why don't you just get one of these Ford Escapes? (that was after I had made it clear I needed it for offroading) I just kinda gave him this look and then started laughing ... walked right off the lot, went home, checked the chevy dealer's inventory and realized they had a $3000 rebate thing on the blazer I wanted which put it right in my budget range. Next day I drove the blazer off their LOT It's been a great little truck ... I've pushed it to it's limits and waaay beyond and it has held up great. I wouldn't imagine buying anything other than a 4x4 ... except if it was a sports car or something ... and even then, I'd probably lean towards an AWD.
