Sip
Try to take a few pics of the models (read: the ladies presenting the cars) They are usually the best part of the show.
Accelerated
Good idea Sip.... btw. a funny episode from last years show: I was looking at an Audi (cant remmember either S4 or S6). The doors were locked when I tried to get in.....then this 'Audi chick' came up asked if I wanted to get in....of course.....I got in (very nice car btw) and she started bombarding me with the specs "twin turbo, AWD, 200 sumthin kW 0-60 bla blah blah", went for about a minute - LOL. Then I asked her how a turbo worked, and she gagged - ahahahah!
Sip
You want to see something really stupid? Check out this thread on this other board (truck site) ... I can't believe so many people would take that ugly arse chevy impala SS or Pontiac over the beamer!!!! I am not a big fan of beamers but given those three choices, I think it is a no brainer!!!! Anyway, someone posted a pic of a mercedes at the end there ... I'd love to see one of those in person one day
Accelerated
Well, cant expect much from American truck lovers - LOL. American cars are crap period.....the leading car mag here does an annual Performance Car of the Year thing. Dodge Viper got beaten by my Mazda 6 (which did very will incidently) - LOL. I would take the BMW anyday, or if I could this one would be better..... http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/roadtests/firstdrive/2004/04.subaru.sti/04.subaru.sti.f34.500.jpg 4 right, over crest, tightens, into 3 left dont cut..............brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Then I asked her how a turbo worked, and she gagged - ahahahah! Heh - one can appreciate cars (& driving) without having to know all that stuff...really...not all are tech geeks anyway...what matters more - knowing all the specific tech stuff - or knowing what to do with it? And the gal has very good taste in cars BTW...(just not perhaps in who she lets get in them with her...LOL)...looks like you lost your chance there jugs...heh gals into cars - even just a bit...(like who get turned on by "fancy" driving [always worked for me...] - well ther'e hard to come by...and they tend to (self edited)...just say - you don't know what your missing...LOL (Oh - I just re-read your post...she was a saleslady? straighten us out here......heck - my wife used to sell cars....and you just can't imagine how little she knows about them [i think being cute works though...]...We've had our latest car nearly a year now - and just the other day she (again for the umpteenth time) asked me what type it was (as she is always getting asked by co-workers & such who check it out and comment when I drop her off at work...) LOL Yeah I still want an STI...but it won't happen....she is already terrified of what I do in the Audi and tells me she doesn't want me to get another performance car (LOL)...not BTW...it will be performance (I mean what does she know? LOL)..its just how to pass off whtaever we get as a nice safe luxury ride or some such (though she's been talking Volvo lately...cringe [sorry Azat]....but I don't at all want to spend the coin for an S60/70R or whatever it is - though i hear they drive very nice...perhaps the "new" S40 with the turbo...don't know...I'm pretty reluctant about Volvos in general (drive like trucks from my experience...). Other cars I've checked out - Mazda 6 (very nice - but not nearly as sporty as I had been hoping...but a very nice car), Volkswagon Jetta (V6 & 1.8t - very fun...more so then the Mazda6 IMO...but....), Mazda RX-8 (great car...but needs more power...has less then half the torque of my Audi...and it shows...handles real nice though), Infiniti G35 (I really like the coupe in particular...and I hear Nissan will finally be importing the next gen skyline to the states [way bout time]...with something like 400 ponies! LOL...will be badged an infinity BTW), regular WRX (I would buy it...but not fancy enough for the wife I think...and she views it as a "perfomrance" car).....and of course and Audi A4 (really a very nice car....but we - sort of - already have one)....I tell you though - I'm sold on the AWD...and really want one fro our next vehical - but no SUVs....no thank you...besides - I'd be too tempted to drive up and over curbs & onto sidewalks etc...at least now I (mostly) keep to the road....LOL
Accelerated
Oh - I just re-read your post...she was a saleslady? straighten us out here......heck Yah - LOL, way out of my range am afraid more like a salesmodel. Audi pride themselves on having the best 'salesgirls'. This year was a disapointment though.... Took a lot of pics today, but am not going to upload untill I get a connecter cable for my phone. It will take a lot of time and money to send each one to my email, but should have cable early next week. One photo is of a lamborgini salesgirl........brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......i took a photo from the back with full cleavage showing, hope it turned out well
Accelerated
....yeah too bad about the Sti then, but I dont think you would be able to squeeze out much more out of it than the S4. I must admit though, driving a wagon (no matter how fast) still makes you look like a bit of a.......well.......soccermum!

I must admit though, driving a wagon (no matter how fast) still makes you look like a bit of a.......well.......soccermum! So very wrong... Everyone coments on the car - that it is totally cool/wicked & such (and why do all the souped up rice burners try to race me...they don't race soccer moms in vans & such so they...?)...I even had one (older) guy (turned out he was a BRit...so knew the car...) actually start bowing down on the pavement towards my car (honestly he did - freaked me out...)...then he ran up and was so excited asking me how I got the car & such...etc etc...Its badged out and such to look like an RS4 (not available in the US)...and in fact I'll be getting some RS4 wheels shortly (next maybe the larger RS4 Turbos & downpipes - eh! LOL)...to complete the look (though I must say a step down from my current wheels - OZ Superleggeras...(19"ers - very wicked...running 235/35 Toyo Proxis comeption tires...) so pleeeeease... And I have to say - I have more folks comming up and commenting on this car then I even do with my 64 1/2 Mustang convertable (thats in top showroom condition - a real beauty...). So I'm very used to people comming up to me and talking to me about/complimenting my car (even being propositioned by females on occasion! really - "hey can I have a ride"...or - "I get off of work at XXXX - can you come by & pick me up" etc...LOL) ...but I get it even more (well no offers from chicks...yet...like with the Stang) with the Audi (and I hadn't expected it...not compared to the Stang)...so - no deffinatly not mistakable as a soccermom vehical...in no way...LOL...and you certainly would not mistake it for a soccor mom car as I blow pass Mustang GTs, Camaros, all manner of Jap import hot rods, BMW M3s and 5s etc etc etc (even some motorbikes! - honestly...not the big boys though....I know my limits...though I run with 'em anyway for fun at times...)...and most of the time I'm not even pushing it all the way (except for the cycles and BMRs & such...can never get beat by a beamer...won't let it happen...LOL)

THOTH
Wow Accel - way cool. I've been able to drive an earlier one quite a bit (know someone who used to have one...then he got a nice Saleen Stang - that was also quite fun to drive...still neither as fast as my Audi - IMO - LOL). Looks like our next car just might be the new (2005) Volvo S40 T5. No drag racer but we can get a good/special deal on the car - in Europe - and will likely get one there - drive it around France & Germany for a few weeks - then ship it back. Its really a pretty nice car - 6 speed- AWD...220HP...0-60 in 6.7 sec...33 MPG (amazing with this kind of power/Pperformance) and some very cool features etc. Frankly I would never ever have sonsidered buying a Volvo before this one - but the price/performance etc is right - and it is supposed to handle better then any Volvo made to date - looks pretty good too..Check it out: http://www.channel4.co.uk/apps26/4car/jsp/..._2&reviewid=

THOTH
mmm....220HP through front wheels.......bwwaaaaaaaah (torque steer), get another S4! No - I'll be getting the AWD version - I'm thoroughly sold on AWD after the S4. A new S4 is $45K+ - I sohould be able to get the Volvo for $25-30K (all optioned out)....like I said - I have my ways/connections...its no STi or such (though nicer in amenities)...but I think it will do... Did I tell you I beat a new (V8) S4 pretty good in my hopped up 2001? Also took on a few (2) (regular) WRXs already this week...toyed with em... angel4hope
heelo- i know that u guys may be thinking that since im a girl i dont know much about cars, well....my whole life ive been surronded by guys (brother/cousins/friends)- esp guys who love cars- and not just any car- imports, supraz, GTR's, skyline, mugen nsx, civic type R...blah blah blah, ive learned to love them tooo- in other words, i myself have become a car freak the past few years---most of my friends have cars such as those^, and they fix them up and stuff,i just wanted to know what you guys thing about nitrous oxide- NOS, and whether you think a car should get its power from the engine or what not, or do you think that NOS is cool? i know it sounds a lil weird, what i mean to say is- would you yourself use NOS to make your car faster-if you could?
angel4hope
by the way- accelerated- that pic of the NSX just ripped my heart out-------i wish i could drive that right now!lol
Sip
... and not just any car- imports, supraz, GTR's, skyline, mugen nsx, civic type R...blah blah blah In other words, Rice Mobiles, aka Ricers.
THOTH
NOS is only mostly good for short bursts - so for a drag race & such...and it can strain many engines...too much power. Its not the type of thing I would do...but for some - sure - it certainly works... Hey glad to hear your into cars (great to see gals into such)...love em myself & love driving. Right now I have 4 in the driveway and 1 in the garage (my baby - 64 1/2 Mustang Convertible! mint condition of course w/289 4 barrel V8). Will soon be getting rid of two of my cars though - 1 makes me most sad to give up - a supercharged Toyota MR2 that is way fast off the line and with the semi-slicks I used to run with handled quite well...looking for a new home (it needs some work...but the engine is in great shape). I'd love to do up the suspension a bit and make it a autocrosser...but my wife won't have it (putting money into yet another car)...my new baby is an Audi S4 V6 twin Turbos - running 320-330 HP and 360 lb/ft of torque! - lowered and running with big 19" wheels with 235/35 super low profiles...plus suspension, intake & exhaust mods...can run with basically anything (so far so good)...even some (of the smaller) speedbikes...LOL So what do you drive girl? (or is it your b/f with the fancy wheels?)
THOTH
In other words, Rice Mobiles, aka Ricers. Nothing wrong with that. A buddy of mine owns a Mustang Cobra (with some minor mods) and a seriously hopped up (no NOS though) civic. Well his civic does Quarters in the low-mid 12s! - better then his Cobra! Most of the jap import crowd - even modded - can't even begin to stay with my Audi...thoguh an Sti kept it real close a few weeks ago - and if i didn't juke hikm a bit at the start may have even been able to take me...maybe...I was pulling on him more as our speed increased....and he declined another oppurtunirty to go at me...LOL Ain't I just a little boy (for such an old man! LOL) - I love it!
Accelerated
Did I tell you I beat a new (V8) S4 pretty good in my hopped up 2001? Yah, stop bragging.........soccermum would you yourself use NOS to make your car faster-if you could? I dont know much about NOS, in terms of cost/effect etc....but yeah as winston put it its only effective over short distances/drag races and I imagine puts great strain on the engine....so prob not worth it. , i myself have become a car freak the past few years Good for you! Few things I enjoy more than driving my car i wish i could drive that right now! me too.... PS. they better put a better engine into the new NSX, the current one is a dissapointment allready! THOTH
Yah, stop bragging.........soccermum LOL - perhaps I should get a "baby on board" sticker - eh - what do you think? LOL Actually had an interesting run today with a 1st gen Mazda RX-7 Turbo...boy was prety fast...and he sure thought he could beat me...well he was quick...still I opwned him when I finally did stomp it...was fun though...I followed him thruogh some twisties after then put on another little show...LOL Soccer mom my ass!
