tigranisbasileus
El Grekko: Greeks did lose Aia Sofia and Smyrna but they didn't lose everything. You are talking rubbish again. I told you before and I will tell you again; you did not lose 1/10th of much as we did. We practically lost everything. Practically all our lands and millions of people. You are still 50+ million people on earth. How can you compare yourselves with us? Please save us from your rhetoric about you Greek men being better from our men. I heard from many unhappy women who intermarried to Greek men that womanise a great deal and made their wives to be extremely unhappy; constantly leaving their wives at home and plain womanizing. Our Armenian men are far better husbands and far better family figures. So save your rhetoric about how much you people are better blaaaa...blaaaa....blaaaa we are maybe 20 million in the world... some of do cheat and some of us cause we are a***holes.... f*** you if you think i'm gonna cheat on my Anahid or not be their for little stavros...how dare you.... We are not better...just better know....culturally by odars

kakachik77
Dear Tigranes, judging by your angry posts here one can only assume that you have been deeply hurt by the family (relatives, community) of the Armenian woman you married based on the fact that you are not Armenian. You chose to participate in this forum to let the steam out somehow against some virtual Armenians spread around the world. Unfortunately, your posts have been expressing one-sided, shallow and undiplomatic views - similar to the attitude your received from the Armenian community that treated you bad or did not accept you at all. Hence all the negative comments posted against you. Reciprocity of anger in this case most probably won't serve the problem - rather patience, deeper understanding and that favorite thing that Christians' like to do "turning the other cheek", after all Greeks invented Christianity or something similar, right ?? Your situation is not new to the Armenian community, time will pass and they will end up accepting you as one of their own and even loving you like their son. There are numerous examples like this. Although I do wish that parents will just respect the wishes of their kids specially after they are married.
phantom22
Hey Tigranes Basileus, It is not only Greeks like you that get treated poorly. My Armenian in-laws treated me like a leper and I am 7/8 Armenian 1/8 Assyrian. They thought that I was not good enough for their daughter, since I am not a doctor, lawyer or other professional. tigranisbasileus
Wow... Thank you Kakachik..but my problem with my inlaws and the armenians of my city are as follows: we are good until we start dating an armenian girl; then they treat us like thieves! The family.... have been polite to my face but behind my back have for the two years we went out before getting hitched , were organizing dinner parties with parents and potential suitors... My wife initially wanted to school our Stavros at armo schools but in the end our child will face discirmination because he isn't full and the disavantage of having a greek family name will jeopardize his development.... I like Phantom22. Man, If you feel armenian you are armenian, 1/8 is like 12.5 %.... its practically nothing and if they hate you..they suck... and I am a professional and they are shit with me... I don't think that they hate me...just they are sad because in their hearts they believe that their daughter isn't REMEMBERING THE FORGOTTEN...and the end result is one more armenian soul is lost... I feel sorry for them...

You've got to be much more positive, otherwise it's not good for you or anyone around you. One more thing. I know you're older than me, but it doesn't matter. You've got to move on. Now that you're going to get-together with your wife, you have to be positive about your in-laws too. You have to treat them as if they like you. Be extra nice to them instead of having negative thoughts towards them; and when you think nice, you will act very nice and it usually rubs off. That's my small advice to you. I have a feeling you are dealing with an extremely small sample of Armenians who are somehow depressed and isolated from larger communities...I bet you don't know anybody from Armenia proper...just a feeling Edited May 26, 2006 by kakachik77

gamavor
If not anything else, Baselius posts are indicative of how foreigners perceive the Armenians (those of them that have heard about us) and in the same time how little they know about us. I tend to agree with some of his points about the defeatatism, but I strongly reject the term "culture of sadness". Obvioiusly he wasn't invited to an Armenian party Baselius, or whatever turk is lurking in our forum should know that the loss of Armenian girl to a foreigner is not a loss of a voice for recognition of the Armenian genocide, but rather a loss of her offspring not being able of using Mesropian alphabet, enjoying our literature, our folk epics, declaring proudly that he/she is Armenian, no matter what passport he/she holds. Oh, And I forgot the trivia...when we have had civilization our contemporaries were still living on the trees! Now if I may propose a tost, it would be: Ladies and Gentelmen, lets drink for the evolution of the non-Armenians! Genats!

Now if I may propose a tost, it would be: Ladies and Gentelmen, lets drink for the evolution of the non-Armenians! Genats! YOU HAD CIVILIZATION WHEN WE WERE IN TREES? i LIKE THOSE ARMENIAN HISTORY BOOKS.... AND WHAT IS SO BAD IF A CHILD LEARNS THE GREEK ALPHABET, WITH GREEK MYTHOLOGY, HISTORY ETC., I THINK THE OFFSPRING WON'T EVEN FEEL ANY PAIN TO THIS; IS IT REALLY A LOSS? IF TO A COMPARABLE CULTURE... i WOULD UNDERSTAND IF TO BE ASSIMILATED TO A TURK... BUT NOT TO GREEK....HE'LL NOW ABOUT ARMENIAN CULTURE, THE KING THE MYTHS, THE GENOCIDE, ETC.,BUT AS A GREEK: ITS LIKE TRADING A SAAB FOR A VOLVO: YOUR STILL DRIVING A GOOD CAR...ONLY DIFFERENCE PEOPLE RECOGNIZE A VOLVO MORE....THAT'S IT... THE TREES LINE IS OUR LINE, BY THE WAY.... IT IS ONLY A LOSS IF YOU THINK A LOSS...SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO LOSE SOME TO BUILD ALLIANCE WITH OTHER CULTURES...AND WHY NOT US? WHE ARE NOT THAT BAD, HUH? WE LIKE BAKLAVA, DOLMADES BASTERMA, ETC. ANYWAYS, ALOT OF ARMENIANS IN GREECE CONSIDER THEMSELVES GREEK NOW...THIS IS WHY THE GEEK GVT SUPPORTS THE CAUSE... SOMETIMES YOU GOTSACRIFICE A FEW FOR THE GREATER GOOD... AND IF YOU CAN'T YOU STAND ALONE WITH NO HELP...EVERYBODY NEED HELP...TAKE IT FROM A PERSON WHO IS FROM AN ARROGANT NATION...BUT WE ARE HUMBLE ENOUGH TO KNOW OUR LIMITS... PROUD TO SEE THAT ARMENIANS DEFEND THEIR CULTURE... I WILL KNOW WHAT TO SAY TO STAVROS ABOUT HIS ARMENIAN ANCESTORY... FOR A PEOPLE THAT HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY DEFEATED... ARMENIANS ARE TRUE WARRIORS AND HAVE THE SOUL TO PROVE IT...AGAIN I THINK ITS A SHAME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THE CULTURE; ARMENIANS ARE GREAT...I KNOW CAUSE I MARRIED ONE... I'M RIGHT? SHOULD BE :I'M GREEK
