No Accel - you have it backwards - dn't know how you came up with that one. BTW - I haven't yet checked how we have done against each other (and really have little/no clue...though outside of Holmes (whom I've been bitching about...LOL) - I can't imagine that my team has done all that well...

OK fine - let me restate then. All of the concepts of God/Gods/god/gods/goddesses/etc so on and so forth are just plain wrong. They are basically figments of mans immagination. My statement that there is no God (etc) is based on my principle that everything we know is (basically/fundementally)wrong (or more accuratly partial truth at best). I may (do) not know the ultimate nature of existance/our universe/its underlying truth or what have you - but neither do any of you - any better then me. I am not putting forth any answer - all I am saying is that you are wrong - that I don't believe you when you say you know the truth. Thus - my statement - that there is no god (et al) - is only stateing my belief in the negation of your so-called (unknowable) truths. I can propose inumerable hypothesis concerning the height weight hair color temperment and what not of some supreme being or creator - or group of such - or unknown alien progeninators...Pink Ponys or so on and so forth - and your versions have no more truth or really chance at all of being accurate as anything I could just make up on the spot. Got it now?

I understand that there are lots of mountains in California...West Virginia even...

A-H - Chill out a bit (particualarly about 'Bruin - I fail to at all see how her comments warrent yours...) I for one don't mind your input here - though sometimes it gets a bit old/repetative and I can see why others are sayinng "not more of this again" etc...and even you yourself basically admit that you have some issues...still I would caution not to generalize over much and also to be aware that many of your comments may come accross as somewhat bizare to many/most. Other then that i quite enjoy most of your commentary (on a variety of levels...can't say I am always laughing with you per se...LOL)...and no one is perfect and we aren't all going to see eye to eye on all things (no big deal)...granted Still, I would please ask that you apologize to hyebruin. To me her comments (and delivery) are generally a hoot - and while she certainly reflects a certain viewpoint (and I for one am very sorry to see such negativity about romance in general [and seemingly in her case specific] and concerning the male of the species - at least some/much of it is pretty understandable (even you should agree with me on this one...)

Shouldn't this thread be in the (sick) humour section?
-
Yes I can picture it - and the thought sickens me - really and truly. You would advocate/dream of the murder and suffering of millions of innocents - for what? To get some land back? Do I really need to go into all the reasons why what you advocate is not a nice thing (and very un-Christian of you etc)?

Rousas - I just don't believe at all that anything you are saying is true. And no - I don't need any proofs..believe me I have friends and relatives who present this sort of thing to me all the time - and I have spent plenty of my time digesting etc. I have my own beliefs - or opinions - and one is that fundementally (sacred books or no) man has no clue about the nature of existance and all of that - nor are we likely to ever have the capacity to truly know/understand as it is beyond the capability of our limited perspective. But I do not think it worthwhile to conjecture beings and systems and what not to fill in these gaps - as they are again just conjectures based on our limited perspective - and thus are all inherently false. Of course the parables and other lessons in most all religions have their place - to illustrate/teach...some better then others etc...but all are man derived (and imperfect) - but thats OK as long as one (individual/group etc) isn't trying to force their particular set of beliefs on others and as long as they are not killing or harming others based on these beliefs or based on the fact that others believe differently. And oh BTW - there is no God. And I will conjecture that this is likely provable based on statistacal analysis alone (but no - I really don't want to go there...). And basically I believe that nearly everything we claim to know is inherently wrong (at some fundemental level) - but thats OK - approximations are ussualy good enough for most things...and we seem to get by...and, of course, no one can prove that any sort of afterlife, past life, alternative universe life or what have you has any real exsistance or bearing on how we live or lives in the (lets at least assume here) very real world of flesh, blood and substance that we find ourselves in. SO lets make the best of it here and now - and not just give false hope to the suffering etc - that they must accept their lot - in hope that when they die they are going to some better place and that there are some unseen benevolent beings that are looking out for them and such...its just a false hope at best (but OK - maybe some need this sort of thing - but please don't foster it on those of us who don't...)...sorry...

Your very welcome BitterSweet...now when will you be changing your moniker - perhaps to LovinglyFulfilled or some such...LOL (we will be anxiously awaiting...)
-
Yes Boghos - true Hollywood mini-series material eh? Guess its just like that sometimes...sure glad to not be traveling/living in A-H's circut however...could drive one nuts me thinks...
-
he he - guess how I answered...LOL (which God/gods BTW...and who is the authority to interpret? and don't just says - the Bible tells me so...it tells many [very different] to different people...and it is also wrong of you to assume that wisdom/morals etc cannot be found/derived elsewhere...)
-
Actaully - there should be nothing wrong with either of these things - as long as his love in scincere and he knows how to treat a lady (which for one thing is being able to put her and her needs over his self-esteem and other concerns such as thins)
-
BitterSweet - I think you should trust your instincts. And I think you made the right choice. Obviously you had an attraction for hiom - but sometimes people we are attracted to are not good/best for us - and I think you are comming to this realization - that these type of macho/egotistical/whatever attitudes he is exhibiting are not what you really want in a guy (and I think you are on the right path)...so don't go back to him...he would take you for granted and such anyway if you did. If he is really interested -- and interested in you - he will make the move/take the effort and he will have to prove that he cares for you...you shouldn't settle for anything less.. Good Luck! ...and welcome to the forum...

LOL - bruin - you said it! What makes you such a expert on the male of the species I wonder? LOL

MJ - I understand here your orignal cristism was coming from - and your recent explanation...still - in a sense it is unrealistic. Young Armenians will know of the Genocide (though not necessarily to hate per se...but anger certainly...)...and you must understand it is certainly a (recent) event that affects and has shaped us all. (And please he is gearing up for extreme effort - pastoral scenes, thinking of art, culture, great achievaments etc and such just isn't going to cut it - one can see where anger over lost kin could give one a boost - so please try to take it as it was intended). And Sarkis - congratualtions on your achievement - good for you...and good for us...
-
MJ et al - I can understand your perspective concerning Balakian - but I think your being too hard on the guy. Not everyone is going to have your sophistication of views or involvement regarding Armenian issues today - just face it. Please try to accept this guy for what he is/has done. I read Black Dog of Fate several years ago and have passed it on to several non-Armenians who through this book were able to gain nice insights on what it is to be a 2nd/3rd generatiin Armenian (and immigrant in general). I myself found much sympathy with his experiences growing up - as my growing up had many parralels with his - so I very much liked the book - as did everyone that I was able to recommend/lend it to etc. I suspect that there are many Armenian Americans who can very much relate to his experiences. Is he the do all and end all of knowledge concerning Armenia (Diaspora)/Armenians today etc - No, certainly not...but I do think that his experiences speak to many of us...

LOL...actually I knew a guy from High School (literally - eh?) who beacame a pharmascist for the expressed purpose of access to these sort of pharmacuticals (not good)...though he was an amazing guy..when not too stoned...was a painter who used to paint reproductions of great works - under commision - down at the National Gallery of Art...you could hardly tell his from the original [perhaps a bit brighter sometime]...anyway - yeah he became a pharmacist...got access to all the meds he was after...and OD'd & died a few years back...shame really...though I think he died happy....
-
Azat - agree with you on the Country 100% - but are you familiar at all with bluegrass music? There is some (mostly the more instrumental) that I just love...used to work with some guys that were (still are) in a pretty famous bluegrass band - the Country Gentlemen - you would likely have even heard of them if you are at all into this sort of music (and its definatly "ethnic" - LOL). I'm mostly partial to Bela Fleck however...Bluegrass/fusion Jazz combo (Don't laugh - works very well)...I recommend the album/CD - UFO Tofu ...though all are good...
-
Sip - your little product reminds me of the scene in the woody allen movie Sleeper...where he gets into that machine to hide and stays in a bit too long ...And can you imagine the addicts (for your drug)? I'm bad enough without it already! LOL
-
Well very good (and better then yesterday...)...happy to have been a part of it...mmm...I concur regarding the red!
-
Bruin..I'll certainly never tell! And your entirely correct with your Bio 101 lesson...though I am going to refrain from further comment (as I can't without being [too] graphic...and without risking showing up some of the younger guys here...and I wouldn't want to do that! ) LOL

I agree - natural is always better...but who is complaining really? Its all just eye candy...

Harut - I don't agree with this reasoning. It stems from the fact that in traditional societies/relartionships etc the (percieved) sucess of a women is always/nearly always tied to her husbands position...while for a man - (having) a great looking women is viewed (in many ways) as a sucess in itself....and neither of these standards are true for all... But yeah, women should look good/great - eh? (LOL) -
Yeah hyebruin - I understand your frustration. Guys are (mostly) just a bunch of little boys aren't they? ...want their playtime above all... Well Sip, don't know what to say really...but what you are describing is certainly not marriage...heck its barely even a proper relationship with someone (because even if you were seeing others...etc...it doesn't mean that the first realtionship just ceases to exists...even if it might be out of your mind/attention etc temporarily...LOL). Both are 24/7 just by definition I think...but that doesn't mean that you two are necessarilly together 24/7...just that the relationship exists - can't be just turned off (particualrly when you have kids together). For instance my wife and I are often seperated and do our seperate things...in fact I recently took a (2 week) vacation (seperate from my wife) (and I've gone on camping trips [with the guys...well mostly...] and other such things (weekends with friends etc) away from her - and even have visited and spent time (platonically) with an ex girlfriend (with my wife being totally cool about it...we've visited her together as well...) and we both often go on business trips seperatly (where I've taken care of the kids on my own for weeks at a time...once she was away for 8 weeks!)...so 24/7 doesn't have to mean chained together. Now I understand that my wife is a very special case who gives me lots of latitude (so my advice is - get a good one! - like I have...) ..and yes - its good for couples to spend time apart and do things seperatly...I'd almost agree that this is necessary - and it sure makes you value being together again as well. And marraige ain't all bliss either - people fight, get tired of/bored etc being around each other, tend to fall into ruts/routines (sexual & otherwise...and this can be a problem certainly...) - so it does take a special effort to spice it up/make it interesting - and I think succesful partnerships are ones where each makes the effort to keep it fresh - and it does take effort...and often (admittedly) its hard to do (particualrly with children...though they have there own way of keeping things fresh & interesting as well...). And Sip - while what you might be saying concerning too much of a good thing - etc..not being good is generally true...I just can't see imagine it for orgasming ...LOL...in my experience - even when its been (somewhat) painful (frequency sort of thing/wore out...and perhaps for other [collarateral] reasons/inflicted...) its still good (and the desire for more is always there...unless overtaken by the urge to sleep of course ...which is increasing [somewhat ] as I get older ...LOL...but I supose there could be drawbacks (I've had [some serious/near fatal] trouble when driving and orgasaming at the same time for example...(true)... And Bruin...you are no doubt a (young) cutie ...and I'd think that even if it weren't for little birds & such ...(so how am I doing? LOL)
-
LOL Bruin...well I really didn't mean ugly ugly...you should have your standards of course...what I am really trying to get accross is that often pretty gals (such as yourself! LOL) often are pusued by good looking, perhaps athletic and or sucessful (type A) guys etc...and tend to go out with these "pretty boy" or whatever types/...well these guys are often players - looking for trophy girlfriends or whatever...(not saying that some/many of these guys might not be OK...however) often these type of guys do have issues and are not the type to treat gals right (I have stories and stories regarding friends of mine in these sort of situations)...so all I am trying to say is that (if this is perhaps you...and I suspect to some degree it might be...but of course I understand I really don't knw..) (I would suggest that) you might want to broaden your horizons a bit....and perhaps consider being interested (even pursueing on your own) guys who you might otherwise not consider (normal guys...) - lots of them out there - and many are likely a lot more interesting then they might apear on first glance (same goes for the opposite...guys not going for beuaty queens but nore "regular" gals etc)...perhaps I just don't trust folks who are too into their looks...(but my experience...etc)...anyway hope iot helps...and yes I know that even "normal" people are not immune to nerosis or whatnot...but I am very relucaant to accept this concept (that you seem to put forth) that everyne has problems/is difficult/has an agenda or whatever...you just haven't met the right guy (who will worship you...but perhaps not to the point of not being able to hold his gropund)...anyway - just more thoughts - for what its worth...I just hate to see some of the attitudes that you have (particualry for someone your age/young)...life its too short...

Azat - I agree (its that smile & collegen lips...) - but she is fine/OK...nothing wrong with her looks per se...though I'm very sure that there are better looking Armenian women (and I know some...)...but gals in beauty contests tend to be hit & miss (and not ussually my type anyway...even to look at I mean...)...oh well...
