karakash
Azat, No shame in telling the TRUTH. You hit the bulls eye. That is SO very true. East Coast Armenians and European Armenians are NO different. I'm an East Coast Armenian adn the poeple here are NOTHING like the many of the Armenians on the West Coast. I've been to LA a few times and it's crazy. The mentalilty there is money and even more - cars, cars, cars...
karakash
I can assure you that the new generation of armenian girls could not be more materialistic (gold diggers). Many young Armenian girls (hayastantsi, beirutsi, parskhay) are growing up to be bitches, and most armenian guys in LA are punks... the future doesn't look so good for my generation. mi xoskov irantsits ban chen nerkaiatsnum shater@ but they think that they're all that just because they drive this or that expensive car or if the know this or that "important'" person. Guys have no repsect for girls at all & girls don't have any integrity. Many of them are very egocentric, especially the guys. I don't understand why some Armenians in LA think that they're all that just because they drive a BMW or a Benz. Whoever has a job is capable of drving the same car. No one said that you have to be rich in order to afford a benz. MOst fo these Armenians are leasing their "expensive" cars which means that they have to give it back in few years. What the hell is wrong with them...or maybe it is the fact that many of them came from the outskirts of yerevan who haven't seen anything in their lives so once they started earning some money by fraud they start pretending that "irank irantsits mets baneren nerakaitsnum" and forgetting who they were before. I think this basically sums it up. I'm from the East and once I saw four young guys storm out of a store in Glendale and hop into a Rolls Royce!!! WTF???? Takoush
I am not aware of the Armenian lifestyle in the outwest; but here in the north east is quite different. It is the older generation, the middle aged and some of the clergy that are the major problems. They are the ones that have to be banned from most of the Armenian Churches and the centers. They are the one's that create the problems for the rest of the people. The young adults and the new generation Armenians are perfectly fine; whether they are Western, Eastern, European, American or whatever Armenians. The youth are more levelheaded usually having acquired high education and they really deserve to take charge of the Churches and the Armenian centers in here if the mostly deseased older generation Armenians would allow them or let them have it. And that's how it is in here really. The youth are the ones mostly that are the better ones. Of course with the exception of a few of the nice older generation or middle aged Armenians. I am mostly talking about the older ones that are taking charge of things and the centers. Edited March 18, 2006 by Anahid Takouhi

Frankly, I am not as young as that; but overall I'm a very young person (hearted). Though I look and feel young but I'm older. If I didn't go to school and busy with both family and my schoolwork; believe me Yervant I would've loved to do it.

I hope you're right; sometimes though I wish I could work from home too. If I had my undergraduate degree already I would've been able to do it. If you overgive and overdo, men tend to take advantage of you; and believe you me I only know this very well. I'd now rather be more aloof then overgiving. I shall be more appreciated that way. Who's this man who took advantage of you? Bring him to Queens court justice, after verdict we'll give him 40 lashes and 40 nights in the dog house. BiancaVella
Hey every one! what you guys think about "we armenians should marry an armenian"? Today i met a women she was very upset about her son's girlfriend it's just because she is russian. Is it right or wrong?... I'm going to give you the point of view of an odar... I honestly believe that if the two people involved love each other, do not disrespect or try to undermine the culture/beliefs/values of the other person, and if they are willing to overcome the obstacles that come with dating someone of a different race or ethnicity, love can conquer all. This may perhaps sound really naive, but it is my opinion and I believe in it 100% and you are asking for what others think. I was in a serious relationship with an American white man but it did not last because he did not respect my values and every so often he would berate my Latino heritage and make awful remarks about Latin people. That relationship was obviously not one I was even going to try and make work because if there is no respect for the very thing that makes you different, there is no love. I have never dated within my own race simply because I have never found an attraction for Latino men. Don't get me wrong, there are GOOD men and BAD in EVERY culture, so I'm not saying anything bad about Latin men. Interesting enough, I have interacted with Armenian guys who have a whole lote more in common with me and what I believe in as a person than Latin or American men. Sorry to single you out but I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement "the new generation of Armenian girls could not be more materialsitic". It is not that black and white and does not pertain to Armenians only. The MTV generation as a whole is growing up spoiled and lacks values and has a warped sense of reality. Armenians have a tendency to copy and take all the negative traits of whatever country they live in very easily. That is why SOME Armenian girls look for a guy that already has "the three keys" to the following : expensive car (preferably German), nice house( 2+ bedrooms), and succesful business( non- fraud related). Having said all that, I would like to add that these are the girls who barely drag themselves through to high school graduation and have no ambitions of career or higher education. They only dream of finding rich husbands to support them while they conceive a son and shop all day. Some of us have no desire to be "kept" by a man so he can remind me "he brings home the bacon" so he rules over me and the house. Thank you, but no thank you. I am fully capable of carrying my own weight and making decisions without a man. So some of us in the WEST COAST(I live in Hollywood, California- right in the heart of "Little Armenia") are not gold diggers. Hell, in my case I was such a fool in love that I took care of him for a while (cell phone bills, credit card payments, car lease). So please do not stereotype or generalize. And I agree that any man who flaunts his cash to get a woman DESERVES a gold digger.
