nairi
Take up guitar lessons. I actually think a lot of teenagers (and some adults) start to drink and smoke because they don't know what to do with their hands in public situations. I don't think the hands are the problem as much as the mouth.
THOTH
Yeah, I used to be, back in early high school. I didnt have much money back then though and its an expensive hobby so I only managed to get a few miniatures (High Elf swordmasters), army book and bought white dwarf every month etc. But if I were to get back into it I think I would go with the Brettonians, just love knights too much Yeah - I have a bunch of Bretonians...puffy hat guys and such (and some guys with cannons etc)...LOL...but I have a smattering of all sorts...I don't play warhammer - just use the minatures in other stuff...I've got my own moded minature rules I use (simplified for the kids mainly...)...fun stuff...and I really do enjoy painting them...I'm not nearly to the level of the fanatics...but I do OK... Sip
This was a couple of months ago!. I realized at some point that I was messing around dangerously close to the airbag wires. I was lucky they didn't go off!!!!! I realized just in time.I forgot to mention a pretty hillarious (well, maybe not at the time) story with that ... basically I was putting in a remote start system and a two-way pager. My remote has a color LCD display which tells me what part of the blazer caused the alarm as well as other things. It has a pretty good range but the main reason was the remote start ... I can press the button in my office and the truck will turn on ... by the time I walk all the way to the parking structure it'll be all nice and warm ready to go Anyway, I basically had to cut into a lot of wires and some of the ignition systems to get this to work. The problem was, I didn't know about this security feature where the computer in the car detects tampering and goes into theft mode ... which means you can't turn on the vehicle!!!!! It took me a LONG time to realize what was going on and figure out how to break that security feature ... it also detects your key so you basically can't turn on the car without your key. To make a long story short, I finally figured it out after two days of charcharank. I just thought it was funny that my own car thought I was a thief, got mad at me, and wouldn't let me drive it for 2 days
Sasun
I just thought it was funny that my own car thought I was a thief, got mad at me, and wouldn't let me drive it for 2 days I had a similar experience one time when I entered in the water with the car remot in my pocket. It was quite an annoyance to be stuck somewhere your car alarming and you unable to drive it, people looking at you as if you are trying to steal a car... Sip
That's one of the reasons I always do my own "security" modifications. I can add my own personal touches which would take some time for some other person to figure out (i.e. a non standard way of doing things) ... I think the blazer is at a point where they are going to have to tow it if they want to steal it. BUT, the big reason is that I myself know very well how to bypass things where, how, and when! Great story about the thft detection Sip 9a few posts back) But this post made me think of back when I was in LA - some of my best freinds were PHD candiates (physics & other stuff) - at Cal Tech (you know the pranksters...don't know if anyone is familiar...and unfortunatly - this is all I could find on it - http://www.subgenius.com/bigfist/goods/O.M...ook_review.html But anyway - they, knowing how I drive, etc - offered (seriously) to hook up a flame throwing device running off my gas line activated by a switch (with some swival control for aiming...)...well - as much as the idea had appeal - I couldn't go for it (because I'd be too tempted to use it...someone do something stupid in front of me - like stop in the middle of the road...fail to use a turn signal properly or some such...and BLAST - on go the jets! LOL) ...they way I feel about traffic now - I probably would have let them do it...
Azat
HAHA - Sip a friend of mine did the same thing(well at least he tried) but he did not know that the BMWs if one starts the car without the key they have a security thing that burns the computer chip on the car if the key is not in . So it cost him 1200 to get the car back to the way it was.
Sip
Actually I know how to do that Thoth!!! It is really neat but it won't work too well with newer vehicles that have catalytic converters ... it would just plug that cat up and totally mess up the emissions systems. Basically what they do is drill a small hole in the exhaust, a few inches from the tip and put in a regular spark plug. Then, they put a bypass on the spark on one of the cylinders. When you press the button, that cylinder doesn't fire, dumping the unburnt fuel vapor into the exhaust but then they spark it with the plug in the exhaust ... it gives this awesome flame thrower effect! Lot of the hot-rodders do it ... but as I said, that will wreak havoc with new emission systems and O2 sensors

So it cost him 1200 to get the car back to the way it was. Wow !!! That's a bummer. Glad GM wasn't like that. They have this "PassLock" system which basically relies on a "resistance" code. On my truck, the code is actually in the key cylinder and not the key itself. But yah, even trying to get around that one was a pain in the you know where. Though I must say now that I know how it works, I can hotwire a car similar to mine in much faster than two days.
THOTH
Well in part you got it Sip...but no - I'm talking a flame thrower that shoots out thr front (like from under the front of the car)...of course - wouldnt want to be moving too fast I guess...luckily there was no concern for the paint. I had this old beat up car (people kept hitting me for a period....like 3 accidents in a 4 month period)...and I would take their insurance money and then fix the car as bare bones cheap as I could...basically getting unpainted body panels...and just letting them rust...same car that I never did wash - not once - the entire tiome I lived in LA! LOL ..yeah its was a get the f out of my way car! LOL....so yeah - the flame thrower was to be on the front...I ussually don't need a back off device (rarely does another vehical stick to my tail)....LOL
Sip
OOOO! In the front? Sweet!!! I could have used that today. People just sometimes don't feel like driving on a left turn GREEN arrow. I couldn't believe it .. .they just sit there and wait for the pedestrians These upper-mid-coast people are very different than the LA crowd I'm used too. Almost ended up driving over one of them to finally get through the 5th light and not be late for a meeting ... and since when does YELLOW mean stop right away? THOTH
Sip - I should add though that I am impressed. I am a mechanical moron. But if I ever turn pro (racer0 I'll be sure to call you up for pit crew...LOL)

Almost ended up driving over one of them to finally get through the 5th light and not be late for a meeting ... and since when does YELLOW mean stop right away? LOL - I so hear you....I'm not the most patient person in traffic sometime (LOL) - but basically I'm OK....and I tend to be very understanding and curteous (if I'm at all sticking around and not just zooming off etc) to people who drive more slowely or otherwise are taking their time, need to cut in etc (as long as they use their signal...but if not...nope...) - I actually deal with these types bewtter then most (I just accept what they are doing and do my thing...go around or what have you...don't get angry/upset etc)...etc etc....but the one things that so gets me - is folks that sit there after the light turns green.....(left turns are the worst)....sometimes they just go as the light is turning yellow - so are the only ones to get through...or just in general not enough cars get through and you wait again etc....I've been known to pull around these types on the right and cut accross in front of them (etc)...(thus I was already used to [doing] this sort of thing driving in Turkey...LOL). But whats your problem Sip....that one traffic light in town giving you trouble? LOL But yeah - on ther East Coast its similar (except perhaps in NY & Boston)...pedestrians are actually deffered to...LOL (and I pretty much always drive this way - believe it or not...). My wife and I were just talking today at lunch (I took her to an Armenian food festival today) - we were talking about car pool lanes here - how there are no dividers - yet most people adhere to the rule not to getr in them without sufficient passngers etc...well she said she couln't imagine it working in LA - there would have to be barriers, enforcement, and there would propbably be a few shootings over it....LOL So true... Sip
Sip - I should add though that I am impressed...Just wait till I take my welding classes with bruin Once I learn how to weld properly, then I'd be set. But I'd certainly be game as the pit crew guy ... while you are doing your laps, I'd be hanging out with the hot victory lane and bud-light chicks ;) One of my dream projects is being able to put together an entire vehicle from the groud up .. sort of a dream concept vehicle. I think in my case it'll end up being a rock buggy of sorts but I'd want to do everything myself. I don't know ... maybe something like this http://www.gradysoffroad.com/jackyl/jackyl_side_view1x1.gif http://www.gradysoffroad.com/jackyl/jackyl_action011x1.jpg maybe even something more insane with rear steering http://www.4x44u.com/events4u/ARCACedarCitySatPhotobook/Mvc208fsm.jpg About the ONE traffic light ... ... had a meeting at 11, woke up at 10:40 figuring I had more than enough time. WRONG. I was a couple minutes late ... but so was the other guy About carpool lanes in LA ... I was actually talking to another prof about that here ... the interesting thing about those carpool lanes in LA is that they don't do ANYTHING to help congestion. They increase the capacity a bit by forcing more people per car but they don't help the congestion problem one bit. The reason is that there are so many cars waiting to get on to the freeway ... I always find it funny (and disturbing) hearing policy makers trying to tackle the freeway "congestion problem" and the first thing out of their mouth is "carpool" ... so rediculous... and I think LA is a wonderful example of where "carpooling" has no impact on congestion. However, people don't violate the law too much in LA regarding that (suprisingly not as much as one would expect), as far as I have seen. Mostly because the fines are so big I guess... several hundred bucks.
THOTH
Yeah I think its $250 for first offense (not that I've had the experieince of being stopped...). Agree with you 100% regarding carpool lanes (though I make use of them here every day - as my wife ad I communte together...) - they are a admision of taotal failure (meanwhile were likely building 10 lane freeways in Bagdad...think of that next time people while you are stuck in traffic...) Your rockrailer is way cool...yeah - you can be my crew and 'Bruin can be our Bud-lite chick...and stand there and look nice...LOL...anyway - enjoy your views...and as much as I do too...I would rather be behind the wheel getting some real thrills! (afterwards might be a different story...hope she won't mind me pouring champagn down the front of her shirt! [sorry 'bruin - just getting carried away with the moment...and I know your a good sport - LOL!])

THOTH
Domino - don't be so judgemental. People from different cultures have different music that they enjoy - no? Well K99 and you are just in a different culture (In that regard). I may even agree with you and dislike some of her music too - but thats not the point - its whatever you like thats important. Sure it would be nice perhaps if more folks had a proper music education and could apreciate truly "fine" music...but thats just not everyones cup of tea...and yeah I sometimes/often? hear music that makes me cringe...but I can appreciate all different types of music...nmore then one stlyle/genre/artists etc has its place...and soem like music to dance to - others for relaxations and others for energy/stimualtion..some like love songs - others like I don't know - lots of other stuff...me I like SOAD cranked all the way up bright and early in the morning...who needs cofee eh? OK then, trowing few books on the floor by maintaining a few basic rythms would be music as well. The noise produced by the wind when passing threw an uncompleatly closed window is music as well... You see, I can downgrad the standard as much as I want, to include any noises that would have few basic rythms as musics... Then, what would make what I say any lesser a truth than what you say by claiming that what she listen is music... ? I mean, afterall, this is all a question of what I do consider as music... Poems can be rythmic, there is many types of poems, there are those which maintain a rythm only by reading of, that we consider them as "noctures" is it because for instance Chopin wrote noctures(piano pieces), that it automatically means that those poems are musics? NOPE! Of course not. It takes accords, harmony, work, rythm, "musical history"(the evolution of a piece, from its alterations, different movements etc...) I am not telling what she listen is not an art, what I am telling is that in those days, it is easy to just shoot that this and that are musics, it takes a few symplistic rythms, with 3 or 4 notes from the Major gamme, and we automatically consider it as music... The definition of the word music has entirly changed... I mean, in figurative arts, paintings etc... it is easy to know, you paint, what you have painted no matter what is a painting, it is just the type of medium you used, in music it is not the same thing at all.
