DominO123
NO 'GENOCIDE' IN ARMENIA The Moscow Times, Russia June 30 2006 WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senators failed to persuade Richard Hoagland, the nominee for the post of U.S. ambassador to Armenia, to describe the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians last century as "genocide." "I have not received any kind of written instruction about this," Hoagland said Wednesday. "I simply have studied the president's policy. I've studied the background papers on the policy. And my responsibility is to support the president." The administration of U.S President George W. Bush does not question that Turkish troops in the dying days of the Ottoman Empire killed or drove from their homes 1.5 million Armenians starting in 1915. ------------- The Armenian president is a coward, they build the biggest embassy for the American embassador, and they don't use their right of veto to pull down a candidate. Really cowards.
gamavor
It is too early to say, but a statement like this is enough for the Armenian authorities to declare him as persona-non grata any time.

Really cowards. My thoughts exactly. I have been mulling over this for some time What if Yerevan rejects the new appointment. But, you may already know. What do I know? When it comes to politics and diplomacy, I am a total idiot. Edited July 1, 2006 by Arpa
Armen
Welcome back Armen. But why should it be that a big deal to refuse. Armenia does have the right to veto, why such right exist if it can not be used? Hello QB. Thanks for welcome. That will practically mean that we refuse to have relations with the US, unless it officially calls it a "genocide". I think that is not Armenia's current policy. Verginne
Yes, on general principles they should refuse to accept this obvious piece of shit. It's time for the tables to turn and Armenia should not grovel to garbage from Washington. Make him personna non grata. And anyone else like him they think they are going to send and maybe they should tell them to get their freaking spy palace the hell out of Armenia. Takoush
I too believe that Armenia should send this piece of shit back to Washington and they can stay there. Anyone openly talking against the Genocide and in Armenia shouldn't be allowed to step into Armenia. And I know who this piece of garbage is coming from obviously; the Washington's darn Heryas, who else.
Iran Forever
I too believe that Armenia should send this piece of shit back to Washington and they can stay there. Anyone openly talking against the Genocide and in Armenia shouldn't be allowed to step into Armenia. And I know who this piece of garbage is coming from obviously; the Washington's darn Heryas, who else. I can not for the life of me understand how any HUMAN BEING in good faith and conscience can DENY the Armenian Genocide! As for Turks, their contention that 1.5 million Armenians simply died of starvation is F--king RIDICULOUS...who are they fooling? Even if only a few Armenians did die of starvation instead of the sword of the Turks, why would any Armenian leave his home and land and simply march accross the country on foot in the dead of winter unless he was forced to? Those who died actually of starvation were forced into starvation, but the majority were brutally massacred and this is a known fact. Turkey shamelessly denies this crime and refuses to own up to it. Germans killed 6 million Jews, yet they owned up to it and accepted responsibility. But what can one expect from a country that was built on conquest, plundering, pillaging, sacking, taking someone else's land, and destroying indigenous cultures (Greek, Armenian, Kurdish etc.). A country that destroys Orthodox churches and monasteries in Northern Cyprus, the same way it destroyed Armenian churches and monasteries in Western Armenia (what is now "eastern Turkey") and Assyrian churches and monasteries in the Mardin and Midyat areas. A country that destroyed the Tombs of the Patriarchs in Istanbul (Constantinople) during the Istanbul riots, a society that knows nothing but violence...No wonder Turkey and Israel get along so well, both were built on conquest of someone else's land, and expulsion of the indigenous people. When Ataturk the Hun signed the "population exchange" agreement with the Greeks, he specifically promised that the Greeks of Eastern Thrace and Constantinople would NOT be included, and would be exempt from the population transfer to Greece...yet what did Turks do? Expel the Greeks of Eastern Thrace, destroying old Greek villages like Saranda Ekklesia ("Fourty Churches" in Greek...just one example out of hundreds). Then he ruthlessly convinced the French who had made Syria a French mandate to give them Hatay, a province of Syria where the ancient Christian city of Antioch is located (Antakya) and the old Syrian port of Iskenderun to TURKEY. Then he negotiated the Treaty of Kars with the Russians, over ARMENIAN land, without ever including the Armenians. He gave Ajaria province and its port city of Batumi to the Russians (whose inhabitants were Ajarians...Ajars are Muslim Georgians and in Turkey they are called "Laz") in exchange for ARMENIAN land in Kars province, and the Kars agreement ended up making large chunks of Armenian land part of "the modern Republic of Turkey". Today Turkey has the nerve to repeat the same REVISIONIST bullsh-t and REWRITE history to serve its nationalist agenda. Fortunately the civilized world knows the truth. Z'areh
Expelling Hoagland or refusing this ambassador doesn't help Armenia at all, in fact it would play in the hands of the Turks. This is not the first ambassador who came to Armenia accepting the Armenian Genocide, neither did John Evans at first, by the way. American stance on the genocide has nothing to do with realities of history, it has to do with realities of politics (which every child knows by now). What the Armenians can do is to continue their warm relationship with Iran and Russia. The biggest problem is that in these days of Western Islamophobic atmosphere, America knows full well that however much they abuse Armenia, Al Qaida or militant Islam will never set foot in Armenia. So in a weird way Armenia being a Christian country with a known history of suffering from "Islam" now suffers a strategic blow, whereas Islamic countries such as Turkey and Azerbaijan benefit from American "friendship" or benevolence in an attempt to diminish known militant Islamist presence in those countries. So I think warmest friendship with Iran can be a good counter blow. Ambassador Hoagland's views cannot but reflect the current American policies, we shouldn't be surprised by it, having said that, nothing prevents the Armenian government to force the American ambassador to visit Tsitsernakapert on his first day as an envoy. (why not every Monday of each month thereafter?).
phantom22
The ignorance of Armenians astounds me. The US knows full well that the long range possibilites for the region include an expanded Armenia. They can see the "handwriting on the wall." EU will not accept Turkey without some resolvement of the Armenian Question. Read paragraph six of this article linked here from a Turkish newspaper. Seems they are up in arms about a map by a former US military officer that shows a greater Armenia and a greater Kurdistan on territory held by the Republic of Turkey. They clearly have "Sevres paranoia." http://www.thenewanatolian.com/opinion-10529.html Expelling Hoagland or refusing this ambassador doesn't help Armenia at all, in fact it would play in the hands of the Turks. And if you follow US foreign policies since 1945 you'll see that what drives the US State Department is what is happening at the moment, now and not later. A map or two drawn by a former military official does not make a foreign policy, and paranoia from some Turks against such a map does not shape Armenian future policies or plans around it. or at least I hope not. Condoleeza Rice certainly does not shape her policies around a map that makes some Armenians happy. As for EU “forcing” Turkey to come to a “resolution” for the Armenian Genocide issue, I believe it when I see it.

Zartonk
That guy has a lot of imagination, how does Armenia win by loosing its South and giving Azerbaijan access to Turkey? I agree, this map is a total nightmare. Not only is the Armenian victory in Artsakh totaly ignored, Nakhchavan is a Kurdo-Azeri border province, Armenian again is denied any access to the Black sea, no Van, Mush, Bitlis, Sasun, Ayrarat etc; and can anyone see a Javakhq? Kurdistan looks way too optimistic over all the Armenian lands, not to mention that they get both Urmia and Tabriz (?) and erase Assyria. Notice also just how much of historical Tabarestan -Gillan- and the Caspian oil lake Stalinsky-baijan gets. A Slight possesion that rings right around mount Ararat is neither historical Armenia or compensation. BTW, the resolution is corrupted on the map: What has this guy done to the Saudis? Hellektor
Ay ay ay... I'm thinking of my recent posts in different forums and I feel kind of sad that I have to return to this ungrateful lot more often than ever... Believe me, I'm no Nazi-Hitler-anti-"Semite" or whatever the yellow patch they stick on you when you criticize them. (BTW, what kind of patch can one stick on the AG deniers, or does any such label even exist?) Everyday you see some crap from those Jewish organizations with humanitarian (or rather Jewmanitarian) names like Freedom This, League of That, Heritage Foundation, International Cryjew Group, etc. Everyday there's venom coming out of the Shylock mouths of some Shlolmo or Shlomuhi like Sabina Frazer whore or Brenda Shaffer bitch or Rabbi Bryza faggot or Ariel Cohen eunuch or Daniel Fried or all those Bergs and Steins and Klines and Golds and Silvers and Blooms of this world, screwing us over like there's nothing the matter... While 300,000 out of 600,000 Armenians, whose genofund had been reduced by 70% less than a couple of decades before the WWII, lost their lives for a war that wasn't even theirs, the fake "Azeris" were using the Jewish concepts of Marxism-Leninism as a pretext to invade and occupy the real Azarbaijan (Atrpatakan) in 1945-1946... While the 89th Armenian army division cut 3700 kilometers, liberated 900 areas, 7333 of its soldiers received medals and distinctions, 9 became Soviet Heroes and even reached Berlin and danced the Kochari in front of the Reichstag, while the 76th Armenian division crossed 7000 kilometers, liberated 600 areas and gave 21 Soviet Heroes, while the 390th or the 261st or the 409th or the 408th... Armenian divisions fought on all the fronts in the Caucasus, Crimea, Moscow, Odessa, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Japan, etc., while 103 Armenians became Soviet Heroes, 23 were knighted with the award of Glory, 70,000 received awards and medals and gave about 60 generals in the ranks of the Soviet army commanders, among who General Baghramian, Admiral Isakov Gen. Babajanian, Gen. Barseghov, Gen. Galajev, Gen. Martirossian, Gen. Karapetian, Gen. Toumanian and others, that castrated kosher pig ShameOn Peres categorically denies the Armenian Genocide and praises Ataturd as an "unforgettable leader" and says, "There were no other 20th century leaders who were as far-sighted as Ataturk". 600,000 Armenians plus partisans in Europe fought to liberate this ungrateful lot and what do we get in return? Some lip-service and a lot of daggers stabbed in out back. Dammit! P.S. Hey guys, it seems that good John Evans is non-Jewish. Can anyone confirm this?
