My take - I think that you are (intellectually) evolved beyond your years - regardless of gender - and that you ponder/consider/question many things - and in particular you question, and don't take on face value (traditional) gender roles/values etc. I'm impressed - what can I say...very...and no - I don't think you are at all representative of the ideal (?) - lets say typical - female in our population...and in general - that is a very good thing...(of course I feel the same way regarding myself and the ideal (?)/typical male....lol

OK - but in most? What percentage roughly would have the Christian God versus Allah or Buddah - all of the above versus none - etc etc....?
-
Along these lines - to a great degree - IMO - is that ones "worth" is what one does/means for others...for their family, their friends, people that they encounter/come accross, their community, their nation, their world....doesn't neccesarily mean one has to be unselfish per se - but one must not be purely selfih - one must be able to do things for others and to be meaningful to others...(in particular for one's children of course - the utimate when it comes to determining one's worth [to others] - as here is certainly responsibility of others...)....

A Place For Intellectual Discussions Or Just Plain
THOTH replied to Anileve's topic in Gender Issues
LOL (about time) - so ya think it will be as revolutionary as the pill? -
Well everyone seems to have a different view regarding this guy... http://www.newcovpub.com/unification/howwas.html

now this could really turn the tide for the concept of gay marriage! Simply scandalous if you ask me! lol http://www.crrange.com/wall2.html http://www.themethodistchurch.com/050103_webpage.html http://www.openbookltd.com/cgi/profile.cgi...backmsg=to+home http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...82981535X&itm=1 and here is where he is from (serious accredited guy it seems...) http://www.ctschicago.edu/

Whoo hoo - I knew it - this is what they are after...(from the linked to forum in previous post) - lol I can't wait for the End of the Current Times! That would mean that Christ has or will return very shortly. Then we will see who was right and who deserves what. That must scare the pee out of the Liberal race of inhumans! If I were Liberal, I would rather error on the right side of things. How hard is it to do the right thing for 80 years and spend enternity in a really cool place.....or, live it up, break every rule that would make a human out of you and pay for it for all of enternity! Hey thats a no-brainer! I guess those others aren't as smart as they would have you believe!

I suggest that certain moderators on this forum may want to switch to a forum better suited to their beliefs (and to their philosophy of censorship) http://www.christianexodus.org/modules.php...pBB2&file=index

Evil according to (some) Christians: (an exerpt) my comments italicsized... EVIL DEFINED - Matthew 6:6-12 Webster defines "evil" as an adjective as anything "morally reprehensible, sinful, wicked <an impulse>; anything "arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct," or anything "causing discomfort or repulsion;" "anything causing harm. As a noun it is "something that brings sorrow, distress, or calamity; the fact of suffering, misfortune, and wrongdoing." The words in the languages of the Bible that are translated into the English "evil," mean about the same (my comment - are we so sure?) What does "evil" look like? We saw how the dictionary defines evil, but how do we define it? What do you say we let God define it for us. The word "evil" appears 612 times in the King James Version of the Bible, 132 times in the New Testament, so, God has a lot to say about evil. In Romans 1:18-28 He mentions a number of things He considers evil. For the sake of time, I'll not read the entire passage; I'll just quickly list the evils mentioned there. He said of the Gentile people of that day that they were (1) given to worthless speculation, (this is evil? really?) (2) they exchanged the splendor of the imperishable God for images like perishable man, birds, four-footed animals and reptiles. (hm - yes quite evil...) (3) They lusted in their hearts to immorality. (like believe in Jesus and you will live eternally - don't believe and you will die...that sort of thing?) (4) They degraded their bodies among themselves. (Like by being too embarrased to show skin - I don't understand this one - what can i say?) ( (5) They exchanged the truth of God for falsehood. (hm - evil if I've ever seen it fer sure...how depraved and damaging...) (6) They worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator. (sounds like environmentalists are all damned...) (7) They abandoned natural sexual intercourse for what's unnatural, (lesbianism and homosexuality). (missionary position only if you please!) (8) Because they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a worthless mind, to practice evil things. (so it is Gods fault after all? And obviously non-belief in God - both evil and showing a lack of intellect - of course...hey God just needs love people...) (9) They filled themselves with all (10) wrongdoing, (11) wickedness (12) greed, (13) malice, (14) hate, (15) envy, (16) murder,(17) deceit, (18) Meanness, (19) gossip, 20) disloyalty, (21) Inhumanity and (22) they lived unmercifully. [/i] That is one of the most inclusive lists of evil behavior found in the Scriptures. (must be...I must say I am glad they got around to murder and malice etc - I was beginning to wonder if my idea of evil was just way off the mark...) (so in light of the former I guess i can better understand this conclusion....whew - a load off my mind...) CONCLUSION God put the death sentence on evil. He said, "The day [you do it ML] you shall die." ("Death" means "separation.") And the day the first man and his wife disobeyed God, they committed the first act of evil and he and his wife died --that is, they were separated from God. But of course God knew Adam would commit evil (aha!!), so He built into His plan, a way for reconciliation between man and Himself. When He announced punishment for the evil done by the man, the woman and the tempter, He also announced His eternal plan. It's recorded in Genesis 3:15 and it says, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." The plan was to send His only begotten Son to be so abused and slain by sinners as described in that verse, and then His resurrection to a glorious victory of evil. The Scripture says, Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." So, since we've all sinned (done evil), we all come under that sentence of death --separation from God. But by the grace of God we can all be reconciled to God in Jesus Christ, His Son.

Ara - I like this last post of yours. Have you posted it in Armenian Club forum yet? I think it is relevant to a discussion going on over there. Oh & BTW - have you voted in my (obscenity) poll yet? (yes I am not beyond campaigning [ie begging] to win my point...)

Is it just me or does anyone else suspect that Sasun may have violated one of the 10 commandments here?
-
bullshit!!!! This thread is about religion and morality - and this video exactly addresses this issue. Furthermore it in no way is obscene - it meets none of the 3 criteria (and the definition states that all 3 criteria must be met to be considered obscene) I will not accept this censorship.
-
Does not at all in any way meet the definition of being obscene. It is a serious socio-political piece - even if done with humor. It is being censored purly because of personal animosity against me and becaus eof selecrtive censorship. Legal definition of obscentity - (please read) http://www.lectlaw.com/def2/o002.htm Link that was removed (please do not do so again) - let viewrs decide (and if the use of the word "Penis" offends you - don't view/listen (forewarned) - and it does not automatically open up - folks can look at site and decide if they wish to view the video. The only reason you use that link is to insult Christians. It is not only obscene but also offensive to many forumers who are Christian. Moreover, this thread is not about Chrisitianity, you are posting off-topic, so stop trying to sabotage yet another thread/Sasun
-
I reject that the link is obscene - absolutly - or that my posts are out of order. If me posting my views is out of order then those who are putting forth their religious views is equally out of order. What you are doing is censorship out and out - and its favoring of certain religious views over others (non-religious). I see nothing at all in the forum rules to justify this. And that link was in no way obscen and I protest your removing it.
-
Its not at all obscene IMO (thoguh I could concede that for some it might be considered blashemous..but thats their problem - lol). I mean is the mention of "Penis" necissarily obscene (and he is saying "hands off it" isn't he? ...except perhaps that little bit at the end...eh eh I will second your view on (particualrly) the religous/Christian right...and concerning anyone "raving" or trying to dictate/constrict/legislate etc how I/we think and do....
-
Well - I wouldn't count on it...though I imagine that some may actually have a real relationship or several under their belts and if they are lucky (and at least a bit sensitive and intelligent) learn something form it/them and understand a few things....but its entirely possible that they will barrel through life with their minds unchanging - with their minds made up...knowing everything etc - and may just - one day - wonder why....why things turned out so poorly or what have you....anyway one never knows - but yeah - it will be satisfying to hear - yeah - you know - maybe you were right about a few things - or some such...one day...maybe...
-
Why thank you.
-
no way - don't watch it if it bothers you....
-
I wouldn't worry maral...with you teaching/guiding them I find it hard to believe that they would fall for that BS. No worries....and right on!
-
no of course not obviously and certainly because we married I was/am not #2 in her eyes... I have loved others too as well - how does this diminish the love we have for each other? I don't understand. Are you (falsely) claiming that it is only possible to ever love one? Or that one can hope that they will somehow meet and marry the one and only love in the world for them - etc etc - a pipe dream... And who is to say that having sex with someone is necissairly being in love with them...etc You obviously don't at all live in the real world... Not at all a worry....why are you so insecure? And you are (again falsely) claiming that just because someone has had sex with more then one person that they are thinking as you are claiming and are just ready to head off with anyone - etc....again what reality are you living in - and who is to say that someone who was a virgin when you met could not act the same? etc well....no....I consider that all your assumptions and conclusions are just...wrong....what can I say....
-
Check the vid...sums it up quite well - IMO.... edit: you can't post obscene links/ Sasun

hmm- need we ask why? Anyway - I feel the same - for a whole varity of reasons of course... This issue of mothers and mother's responsibility is an interesting one. We all know that no girl is good anough for an Armenian son - no? - lol Anyway - perhaps my mother did a good thing when she intentionally and vociferously brought me up to be an American boy and not an Armenain at all...don't know - I have somewhat resented and regretted it at varius times - but no big deal really. I know for one that when dating and when I married I did not either expect nor really care - non-issue really - (and certainly not prefer) a virgin...if anything the opposite (when dating in particular) - I mean experience is good - as in most things - practice makes perfect - that sort of thing...and it was nice to bed gals who more or less knew what they wanted and also who knew how to please and such... And yes - I always recommend sex before marriage (with the potential future missus I mean...but yeah no need to limit it to just with her...at least not initially...). I mean would you buy a car without at least a test drive or several? (and how do you know you have a "good one" if you didn't test drive a few others for comparsion sake? ) And this is for life you know - not just till the lease runs out...yeah its just one aspect of the relationship - but it is not an unimportant one....I also recommend living together (prior to signing on that line....very important!!!!)...my wife and I even bought a house together before we got married...though we pretty much had the rest planned out...still...
