No I totally disagree - he talks about/advocates remembering who you are/who other people are - etc - nothing to do with learning about the world and bettering yourself or mankind etc - says its all been done before - that sort of thing - this belief is absolutly counter-intellectual and against human achievement. And these "answers" are at best speculation - of no greater merit then the speculation of anyone else. Much like Domino's proposition that anything we can imagine must exist (somewhere) - you seem to profess belief in every fairytale ever invented and call that religious science or what have you - a pathetic waste of time IMO. And if I have any belief it is exactly the opposite of yours - and that is (on a fundemental level) that nothing (we believe to be true) is (in fact) true - as we are incapable of knowing/understanding "truth" - it is beyond our ability to percieve - even through Om nana padi ha's or what have you....short of that we have science to explain some things (in a limited fashion - but pretty much the best we can hope for - for the most part) and maybe other cognative devices to help us understand/interpret things inadequatly covered by scientific method - but it only goes so far - and to assume that what you have is "true" (or complete) knowlwedge - or even close to it - well - thats just foolish IMO. And you are not alone - problem is - does not seem that all like you - with contradicotory claims etc - can all be right...

I placed her head in a tray which scared the life out of my children," he was quoted as saying by Etemad newspaper. After learning that his sons had witnessed Fatemeh’s murder, Ismail beheaded them. Oh. Well. That makes sense. Islamic sense, but sense. I guess. Seraj said Ismail received two death sentences for killing the adults. Under Iran’s Islamic law a father need only pay blood money for killing his children. Masoumeh was sentenced to death for her affair with Ebrahim. Adultery is punishable by death in Iran. Well Domino - obviously a great many people see it much differently then you do...yeah forst Football itself sucks (and such) - and now fanatsy football is "retarded" - lol - yeah right...anyway FYI - there are some fanatsy games (varients) based on total points and I'm also in a money league where the high points for each week as well as at seasons end win $. However - bottom line - the head to head format of one team vs another is most exciting - and while there may be some disapointments - where your team might score high and still get beat - in the end - of your team is really good and its not an abberation - you should do well in the end. Likewise - some teams may not score so high on average - but have the benefit of matchups where the opponent scores less - well - they win! Just how it is. If you just offer up players to my opponents etc - I'll have you know that this babyish behavior on your part will not be forgotten or forgiven. Additionally trades can be blocked - sucker - and I (and the other players who are serious and don't want you to ruin our game) will make that they don't go through. Besides you only have about one good player that anyone would want anyway... And if you persist on calling me stupid or retarded or such you can expect the same back from. Your really showing your extreme immaturity here in a great many ways - and it doesn't look good.

I agree with harut. Gore's loss was just atrocious. It was the Democrats election to lose...and they lost - pure and simple (raw votes just don't really matter BTW)..and OK - so he got roughly 50% of the votes - so what - 50% voted for "W"...thats just appauling IMO....Democrats - with everything going for them could not win against ________! I don't see Kerry getting any additional support form this debate. Does anyone honestly think that anyone who supported (was not against) Bush prior to this debate would suddenly "see the light" and say - "my god - what an idiot?" - no - there is a substansial percentage of the population that wants this sort of reassuring no-brain(er) leadership...and Kerry - he's just another Ivy league New England egghead to many of these people. And as much as Bush has galvinized his own opposition (like with terrorist in Iraq) - and as much as he has polorized the country (the opposite of what he was claiming he would do when he got elcted...the first of many...misdirections etc) - well - I just don't think Kerry has distinguished himself as enough of an alternative and he certainly hasn't inspired anyone....loser...IMO...

I disagree - Kerry did not do great - he didn't look into the camera - he didn't clearly articulate himself (even if peppered throughout his talk he made some good points - they were not at all tied together and emphasised strong enough)...and Bush - well the US likes a simple leader - someone who they think they are smarter then - I am convinced of this - and the typical yahoo American voter just gets confused by all the fancy talk...they want it simple, stong and reassuing - and Bush gives them this....besides Kerry is a loser...

Kerry absolutely needed to win this debate - to score a home run (using American baseball coloquilism) - and he didn't IMO. For the most part he failed to distinguish himself from Bush at all...I mostly hear "stay the course" from both of them. It is also clear to me that neither truly understands the stakes in Iraq and the utter failure it is/will be. Though I could agree more with Kerry's critique (of the Bush approach/actions) and of course i agree with his call for international participation/ (and true leadership) and the falure of this administration to do such - etc etc and so on and so forth - his delivery of these messages wasn't nearly crisp enough - and he didn't at all take off the gloves and call this administration for what it is and call them on the carpet for their deceptions. And neither candidate at all understands the terror issue and the root of it (and the fact that not all wars are won by force of arms...)...none will go there of course - and we all - I assume know what I am talking about...the Israel -Palestinian issue...etc....in the end I was impressed with neither - and the result is my longing for a 3rd party alternative - any alternative....(and in fact I have been an advocate of the "3rd party" - to be called the "3rd party" and have no platform other then representative democracy...) - and perhaps I could explain my ideas on this sometime if any might be interested.......and I also think we could do better by randomly picking a name out of a hat....so sad...but basically true...(and same is true for Congress/House of reps as well..)

Ed, who ever said that I am (truly) annoyed by anyone on this forum? I am certainly often amused - yes, frequently (intentionally and not on the part of posters...). I also find that I am normally intruiged with and interested in what is posted (even when sometimes I might disagree) - yes I have found many here have worthwhile knowledge and (differeing) perspectives - and I find this knowledge and these differing perspectives to often be very eye opening - as we all have quite varied and different life experiences, exposure and views (and of course feel that I have some things to offer as well); other times I might disagree with what is posted and feel the need to respond (certain bigoted posts come to mind...as well as when others attempt to paint the world with their particular religious or political stripes - etc) - and while my responses may seem to reflect annoyance - and OK perhaps in some cases I am (a certain rat does some to mind...) - mostly I am playing along (and perhaps disagreeing) and taking my jabs in my own way (and often I am perhaps less in opposition to/at odds with the poster then I may seem - and even then all in the good spirity of debate etc)...and oh yes...I do sometimes feel pity for (and a degree of disgust regarding) certain posters, you know like for those who seem incapable of normal social interaction, who are so lost in their own twisted, bitter views of the world and of others, that they seem to have the need to lash out at and attempt to denigrate others - when it is really with themselves where they should perhaps take the more critical eye...these posters reveal much about themselves - the failings in their lives, and their frustrations...yes these posters I do sometimes feel pity and sometimes disgust for - as they just can't seem to see that it is their failings - and not those of others - that is the primary reason that they can't seem to get it together...

All of the above...how much of each of the above - who knows - but he certainly has something going for him (along the lines of the above...). I think its a mistake to see this in linear terms - to even think that one's smarts/intelligence/wisdom is (directly) comparable to another's or what have you - we all have these in different areas - sure some/much overlap - but its very difficult to measure IMO. I think Sips original definition was quite good BTW - he is a very smart guy - don't you think?
