  1. Why does Turkey hire its own incompetents to restore thgese monuments. I am an expert on Turkish architecture. Yes, your bunglers are doing damage to Turkish monuments also.

Including the man revered as a God in Turkey. I wonder what is in Latife's personal memoirs. I am sure those are kept secret under "national security" justification. Did you know that Onassis was one of these ***** boys? He used that as a springboard. He then was a gigolo to an older woman, again as a springboard. My far distant ancestor was the Sultan's favorite. I sometimes wonder how that parlayed into his unbelievable success.
  3. Yes, Germany. In the present case, it is in Turkey's interest to restore some semblance of what Turkey was under the Ottomans. A nation that wants to join Europe can be Moslem, but it must be cosmopolitan. That means having neighborhoods such as Pera (now Beyoglu) which are international centers of commerce and culture. Just a note to you that the Native Americans are now making bug bucks running private casinos on their reservations. The US has apologized to the Japanese who were interred in WWII and attemoted to make amends. We can only forget the past if the present Turkish approach changes. Will a non-Moslem ever be considered an equal citizen in Turkey? Will the churches be allowed to fix their roofs? Will historic Armenian churches be restored in toto by competent Brits and Frenchmen/women. Or are incompetent Turkish restorers going to obliterate Armenian symbols during the restorations?

Arpa, The now disabled Ariel Sharon, would prononce the word as "TECHORIST." Is ***** a Turkish word? LOL
  5. No nation willingly ever opens that book. It is usually happens only under duress.
  6. This is indicative of the culture of their nation. After that incident they actually believe that Artsakh will ever be under the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan again? What will prevent them from illing every Armenian there just like Magarian was killed.
  7. Hey Mosjan, You admonished me to "keep it clean"in the "Forty Days of Musa Dagh" thread because I stated vociferously that no one would recognize a novel entitled "The Forty Days of Musayi Ler." There was nothing dirty going on in that thread, except for slingings between myself and "Golden Boy" Arpa. Here we see that people have descended into the shithouse. Please do your duty and clean house.
  8. Hey Zurderer, Not all of us here are hell-bent on antagonizing you. Some of us here wait for Turkey to "turn the next page" make amends and grow the regional economy in conjunction with Armenia. I may be a dreamer, but my family reached the pinnacles of worldly sucess under the Ottoman Sultans, without sacrificing their benevolence toward the Armenian masses. So I have a different perspective. As Rodney King stated "Can't we just all just get along?" Perhaps my drift toward Buddhism jades my perceptions, but Elif Safak, Orhan Pamuk and other Turks are trying to bridge the gap.
  9. Alan Hovhaness was married to a woman from Japan. One of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in Moscow, named Wong, has an Armenian mother. The The Hughes Brothers movie producers are the product of an Armenian mother and an African-American father. The list goes on and on. So the fact that half of my family married Jews is not that startling in this context. I married an Armenian who aborted all the children from her three marriages, plus numerous others from all her younger male lovers. She believes in the adage that younger is better.
  10. Posturing or not?, it keeps the issue on the "front burner." The key here is that the Pontic Greek and Assyrian genocides were included. As I have stated time and time again, limiting the discussion to Armenians gives the Turkish government a trump card to claim that it was in response to an armed rebellion. By including the Pontic Greeks and Assyrians in the equation, it seriously defuses Turkey obstensible defense. Turkey is even now attempting to skew the issue in the media solely toward the Armenian annihilation. The Armenian power boys, in their usual idiocy are assisting the Turkish government in restricting the discussion to Armenians. How typical!!!! As usual, our leaders are imbeciles!!!
  11. Erdogan says that it is a daydream that Turkey will acknowledge the Genocide. The truth is that it is a daydream that Turkey will be accepted into the world community unless she comes clean.
  12. This EU admission process has put Turkey under a microscope. Media attention, however, in the US has been muted for political reasons.
  13. Yes, they have destroyed or let crumble to dust the majority of the sites under their control. Now for external political and tourism reasons they are preserving a few sites (but removing Armenian symbols). My ex-wife and I visited numerous Native American sites not built, or used by European Americans, but run by them now and making money for them. So your argument, Dave, is not correct. The Armenians can give a more authentic backdrop to these sites, that is correct. What are the Turkish guides going to say to the tourists? That the Armenians suddenly went on vacation 90 years ago, never returned and that their children and grandchildren are now living in tony suburbs of major Western cities? name='Dave' date='Sep 2 2006, 08:05 PM' post='177776'] Turks can't use Armenian historical sites to make money, because even if those sites are now located in Turkey, they weren't designed, built, or used by Turks. Armenians can, however.. Turks have also destroyed Armenian vestiges in the past.
  14. ...and what do you say when Catholic priests rape Armenian boys, such as AB and myself in our childhood, NOTHING!!!
  15. The best way to save America is to muzzle the Evangelicals. They have made a mess our our beautiful country.
  16. I know Jesus. I have read far and wide accounts of him from North Africa to the Himalayas. It is the traditional Armenians who have allowed the Papists to twist their arms over the centuries. The Byzantines hated us because our Christianity was so Hebraic at that time!
  17. Bravo, Armenia finally has gotten the message that tourism is an export industry that brings in money. So now Armenia will join the Turks who are marketing Armenian historical sites (Aghtamar Church, City of Ani) to improve the local economy.

    Eternal Idiots

Bonita or whatever your name truly is: This article is filled with distortions and half-truths. For example, Van is not an area of "ancient Turk lands." The Turks came upon the scene 1,000 years ago, while the Armenians inhabited those lands for 3,000 years. Those lands are now void of Armenians. What do you propose is the reason for that?
  19. For what he perceives, not for what is. For what I do not do.
  20. He wants person such as myself to be dead, the sooner the better.
  21. There were only 3 Armenian families in the school district I attended, but our history courses discussed the Armenian heritage of numerous Byzantine Emperors. Perhaps the Chair of the foreign language department, an Armenian married to an odar, had some influence ablout that. If one surfs the Internet they can find numerous websites of Jewish organizations that discuss the Armenians, almost always in a positive light. They discuss the Jewish nation of of Adiabene and its relationship to Armenia. They discuss the Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem, the only negative reporting being the fights that Armenian priests are having with Greek and Coptic priests over "territorial issues" inside the Christian shrines.
  22. I will show respect when the leadership of the Armenian Church shows some compassion. They always seem to be at the head of the pack in creating misery for persons such as myself. Rev. Yeghia Hairabedian is the worse of the lot.
  23. I have always stated that Doenmeh were critical players in the Genoicide. It is when those of your stripe condemn all Jews that I disagree with you. The Doenmeh are considered apostates by the Jewish establishment. As for changing my moniker that was either due to Arpa pleading with me to change my moniker (I changed it twice to please Arpa and Joseph Parikian) or the moderators accidently reverting all to their former monikers during a revamping of the website.
