Well, either way -- that was one of my points -- that the reason other countries should leave Muslims (/Muslim countries) alone is that there is and will always be a conflict between liberal Muslims and radical conservatives. All it comes down to is their religion. While there are fundamentalist Christians out there in the States and here in Canada, most of them don't go around bombing places or whatever... Instead they use Fred Phelps' method. I'm pretty sure Fred Phelps could probably place a bomb in a gay bar. That's the fundamental difference between a Christian country (or rather -- a non-Muslim country) and a Muslim country..

Get angry from the pain? Hell no.. lol.. It makes me feel all good inside. lol.. I'm serious. And that's the whole point -- to hurt yourself so that you can either forget your anger or have pain replace it until the anger goes away by itself. As for using a pillow, ummm, what's the point of using a pillow in that case - it doesn't hurt you... Pillows have never worked for me, and they make me even angrier.. loool, if I do that when I'm angry, I can assure you I'd be banned in less than 1 minute. It's pretty bad when I'm angry.. Blood pressure / asthma problems lol..

most of the time, i get really violent, especially when my mom pisses me off, but i just slam the door shut so that i wouldn't actually attack her.. sometimes i just start hitting at the wall with my fists (yes, it does hurt), and sometimes i just burn my fingers with cigarettes, until I've calmed down. if the person who has annoyed me is a stranger, i just walk away as quickly as i can, so that i wouldn't actually punch him (i wouldn't use violence against women).. however, recently i've been trying to take a deep breath and calm down and think rationally, so i don't just rush out when i'm pissed off in front of others. i've often used drinking as a way out of anger. sometimes i play music at max volume when i'm at home, just cos when my mom starts b*ing, she doesn't stop and it pisses me off even more to sit there and listen to her talking by herself.. lol.. i guess we're a crazy family haha..

Not particularly. I am an objectivist. But like any/all human being/s, I must admit I am biased towards one group -- particularly the clan... err, I mean, your clan. You're beginning to act like that rude lady who learned a lesson by someone who was courageous enough to stick to what he said even if that meant being involved with cops (something I would avoid no matter what). sev-mard... not sure about the situation in the States, but the majority of unskilled workers who come to Canada take the jobs of the more qualified residents in IT, computing, etc. The people who take their jobs don't know English, but only get the jobs because they are visible minorities (there are exceptions, of course). Not to mention the privileges non-white people are given at university entrance level. the quotas that are placed for those things (universities, jobs, etc.) are not reflective of the distribution in population, especially in the case of universities. And another comment -- where there is difference (skin colour, sex, race, etc.) there are power relations. There is probably only a brief period in which 2 different things can be on the same level, only for the scale to shift again.

Anonymouse, with regards to your comment about democracy being a bad system because it thrives on the "divide and rule" concept, my question was, do you think it's possible to get rid of that "divide into race, gender, etc. and rule" system (i.e. what you called democracy or even politics). do you think we can live without politics? hmm, I'm not quite sure I get your point, Sasun... if there must be a person after whom that day is named, it definitely shouldn't be Luther king, IMO.

Actually, no... I don't think you're a jerk. I respect your views. And that's what a lot of people don't understand. What's all this about hate crime laws, that prohibit people from speaking their mind and label them immediately as racist, sexist, homophobic and therefore inciting hatred against an "identifiable group"? I think that's the biggest load of BS I've ever seen in my life. And it's the first step in creating a fascist nation.

sev-mard, the definition of affirmative action is by itself proof of that. when you put quotas for black people or certain minorities, there immediately arises the question of whether or not they were as qualified as the other people who would've gotten the jobs had it not been for AA. It is the same situation here in Canada now, with immigration -- bringing in unskilled workers within the skilled worker category and them getting the jobs (employment equity [translated as affirmative action] for visible minorities, etc.) that otherwise skilled workers would get..

Sasun, I think I made my points very clear why I don't think he should have a day in his name -- it's not a matter of popularity, it's more a matter of principle and ideology. It'd be interesting to read a feminist's point of view on this one. A radical feminist's.

Anonymouse, you might be right about the politics of division (race, ethnicity, gender, etc.), but do you think we can rid ourselves of those systems and labels? I for one don't think it's possible.

Anonymouse -- but don't you think AA worked in SOME way? i mean, think about it, did it not give a lot of women and blacks jobs that they wouldn't have dreamed of getting because they were, in some cases, less qualified (not meant as an offensive term, so don't jump on me for saying this) than white people? yes, it did result in employing less qualified and less-than-qualified people, but it did work to some extent when it comes to job distribution, no? what do you think?

sev-mard, i think you're misunderstanding my posts.. i never said all black people yell foul play. i think a lot of people do, actually. and i've witnessed it a lot. i've heard people b*tch about it. A LOT of people. now that doesn't mean that there aren't black people out there who don't blame others for their own mistakes or for not getting a job, etc. i never said ALL black people are like that.. i've met a few black people at university who are quite educated and respectful of others regardless of skin colour, nationality, etc. i think the main problem with black people is that they take everything the wrong way -- see how you accused me of generalisation.. i never said ALL black people yelled foul play in that comment..
