Sadly, it was only a rental down San Diego-way in La Jolla. It was my first time, but man, was it great! I definitely want to do more ocean kayaking. Not river though;too many rocks (and besides my wife works with head injury patients and wouldn't want me doing that anyway!).

Just got back from kayaking in the beautiful (but cold) Pacific Ocean. Saw birds, seals, fish (including some small leopard sharks). Whatta day--life is good!

Wow, you learn something everyday around here... If anything, I would respect you for putting up with living there. I think no matter where you are from, there's bound to be a group of Armenians that do not like you. A sad fact of our people.

No, the brand-spanking-shiny-new fifth album called LOVE. I take back the Tata comparison. Only a few songs sound like that (especially #3 - Gadag). Overall, I'd say it's a "mature" sounding album. I may ending up liking it more than the last two (Nune & World). "Armo" was created by Armenians themselves. Based on this threads, it must have come from Armenian-Americans. Personally, I have mixed thoughts on it.

My grandfather was a great man: he spoke and read English, Armenian, turkish, Arabic and French. Amazing. When I was a kid, my mother and grandparents would always speak Armenian in public confident that no one else understood. Now my mom says, "I can't do that anymore because so many people in Los Angeles speak Armenian." Also when I was young, they would speak Armenian when they didn't want us to understand (talking about Christmas presents, etc.).

Gayane, your mother is probably right for most marriages, BUT it does not have to be this way. The romance dies away only if each of the individuals let it happen. It takes a little work, not much, but some. Really just a little attention to it now and then keeps it all alive. Examples: Flowers, a plant, or a little gift for no reason at all. Not every week, or even every month, but now and then. It can be as simple as a nice plant from the grocery store when you run in to pick up some milk. A massage out of the blue without having to be asked. Having lunch together during the week maybe once a month. Borrowing their car and filing the tank for them. From-the-heart compliments. Dressing up for a nice dinner out when it's not some special occasion. All of these are somewhat insignificant in isolation and do not take much effort, but on a combined basis, it shows the other person that you're thinking of them. Not in a sappy over-the-top kind of Spanish-rose-in-the-mouth way, but in a real, everyday way. In addition, the spontaneity keeps things interesting--my wife knows not to expect flowers on Valentine's Day (too boring), but on the other hand, she knows there'll be other days in the year she'll get flowers out of the blue. Listen to that dopey song, "All The Small Things" by Blink 182. I think they're saying the same thing. Also, continuing to care how you look to your spouse is a very good thing. While true love goes beyond looks, trying to continue to be eye candy doesn't hurt either. I think this is one of the worst things about men, they let themselves go after marriage. All this is not too difficult, really.
