It is really puzzling to me.Any suggestions? Have you read Azat's signature? Ok, I would uninstall the internet explorer and reinstall for the first thing. If it doesn't work then one fundamental solution would be to reinstall your Windows. Of course, that's a lot of work considering you will have to backup all your data then bring them back, then reinstall all programs. Is it a web-based email service like yahoo or hotmail or something you pop using outlook? 2) What do you mean it logs off? You mean it disconnects you from the internet? 3) What operating system do you have? Do you have any other browsers such as Netscape or AOL? I got window EX pro version.My brother did updated the internet explorer recently and since then no link works from my mail.For example if you send me a email with a link as soon as click it I get disconnected from the internet connection. vava Posted January 16, 2004 Report Share Posted January 16, 2004 Unfortunately (or rather, fortunately ) Armat jan - I don't use XP, so i will not be of much assistance. On the surface however, it seems that the problem could be: 1, your mail client (program such as outlook or eudora) doesn't reconize the newly updated browser as the default browser. In this case, you could download the latest version and re-install it - that should take care of the problem. 2, in XP there are various firewall type controls, perhaps they are configured to allow access to only certain materials (i'm reaching!) Just reinstall the software they provide. That usually should take care of problems. Don't sign up for a new account as that may result in them charging you for another one ... If you don't know how, their tech support may be of help but usually they'll give you an option during installation if you want to use an existing account or if you want to create a new one. I beg to differ, updating your windows can tremendously slow down your computer, after I uninstalled all the crappy patches windows was providing my PC became a lot more efficient! By the way does anyone have any experience with front access USB port connectors? They seem to be different than the ones listed on the motherboard. Vava jan, thanks for your help. Armat jan, I confess it was me, after being hypnotized by your new and quite "open" avatar, I decided to bombard you with a few viruses. If one side is curved but the plug still rectangular, then it may be a firewire port. If the plug is more squarish, then it may be the other USB connector (you may need a converter). vava Posted January 16, 2004 Report Share Posted January 16, 2004 USB plugs, come in 2 varieties, regular (the rectangular ones) and extra-strength. no, sorry, and mini-USB, (which are the small square ones) usually you don't find them on the machines, but more likely on an extrenal peripheral, or a digital camera, etc. Oh, but maybe I misunderstand, what do you mean by 'listed on the motherboard' ? And BTW - windows update is a really good idea. The patches can help avoid a whole lot of headaches by removing several securty vulnerabilities. As for system efficiency, sometimes, after months of installs/uninstalls ad infinitum, you just need to format C: and start all over again! If that is so, verify if the automatic disconnect option is enabled... if that is so, everytime you connect to recieve your emails, it will disconnect the internet after recieving the pop emails. I am sorry I should correct myself “listed in the motherboard manual” The connecters are labeled as such and yes they are USB. +v5 +D -D and 2 grounds (resemble jumpers of course) The funny thing is that the motherboard has only enough pins to support 4 out of 5 (only one “GROUND” connector instead of two that the case has). And the general outlook of the labeling is –USB and +USB, and in terms of connecting the fire wire port I am totally inexperienced, but I shall achieve it with some persistence. I don't have any problems with it. It messed up my computer when I installed the updates.. and NEVER, NEVER upgrade from Home to Pro, it messes up the entire thing... just uninstall it and install the whole thing again. Actually it's a fact one of the Windows patches (don't remember the name it was a while ago I uninstalled it) tremendously slows down your system, and if you want security, firewall, spybot and norton should do the trick. I like to be in charge of my updates. If it ain't broke no need to fix it! By the way check out my new love!!!!! Ain't it a beauty and as light as a shoebox! I am totally in love!
