Vayri7X
I grew up between all the southern states in the US and Las Vegas, Nv when not going overseas- I am still stuck in the south (tx). and am trying this year to either get to Canda or Bay area or even europe! Too bad New Orleans has a smal armo community and no jobs- it's the best city in the south next to austin ! One of of my favorite games when I was in small southern towns was to get myself lost , and then go up to the lady who announces your name over the microphone who says " would the parents of ___________ please come to the front desk? Your child is here." All these odars would screw up my last name.. and I would laugh maniancally at them. It made my parents and grandparents cRAZY! The worst part was never being in an armenian community unless I was in vegas . Also, in many parts of the south ( and to most of white america whether you all wanna face it or not) - miss, ala, south tex, lousiana , ok, ga- armenians are certainly *not* considered white, so in schools in these places , they'd see my dad or gp or one of my fam dropping me off at school (the armenian side )and i'd fight kids for being called dune coons, ragheads, terrorists, sand n** and all that. man.. you armos in the US places like CA , NY or even chicago got it reeeaaaal good compared to your fellow armos like me stuck in the south ! Dan
Share With Us About Where You Currently Live.I live in hellhole, a.k.a northeastern Toronto, where it's winter for 9 months autumn for 2, and spring/summer for 1. *counts - yep, that's 12 months* ... where almost no one is concerned with politics, as 95% of the people here are immigrants and can't vote yet. So yeah, that's where I live... Oh, and did I forget to mention - Toronto - where the Armenian community is consisted of the biggest bigots and gossipers ever. That's where I live. So come visit me and I will show you around this great smelly city. But we'll have to take the bus, and you will think you're in China when you get on the bus. So don't be surprised. I'm telling you all this in advance.

Dan
By the description you live in Scarborough i don't live that far east. well, probably not east at all - York University is in north york, and i'm @ don mills & finch, so yeah, east of York U. Scarborough is about 15 minutes away by bus, though.
vava
Ok Dan, I suppose it's not that bad If I had to choose, I'd prefer the west side burbs - or even better someplace closer to downtown. There are worse cities to live in than Toronto.

My son lives 5 minutes from Continental sports arena at the Meadowlands soI i go to Devil games sometimes.Great team and great fans there! I live in Flyer territory near Philly but I never liked the flyers. I went to round two playoffs I believe two years ago with Toronto vs. Devils at the Meadowlands..Devils lost that game. Being origionally from New Yawk, I used to be a Rangers fan in the day. My favorite sport is boxing. I write on the side for an internet boxing magazine and go to many fights. America-Hye
A few comments. I used to live in LA on the Westside where there were some Armenians but not that many. Before that I lived in NY. Now I live far from the Armenian community. I won't say where because we bisexuals risk derision, attack or death from both heterosexuals (especially Armenians) and from the greater homosexual community who view us as freaks. Cherry Hill definitely has Armenians. I have relatives who live there. My relatives who have married prominent Jews live in the greater Philadelphia area. Hey, Jewish friend, I am also a SUNY graduate and did my second masters at NYU.
Azat
Vancouver Canada looked beautiful. I know it's a bit off topic, but Vancouver Canada is where I want to live. Have visited the city 4-5 times. I have been all over and the only 4 cities that I really feel comfortable in are Barcelona, Vancouver, Yerevan and Los Angeles. I am sure I do not want to be here for more than another 5-10 years, Yerevan is not real for me with my career goals, neither is Barcelona so Vancouver is where I want to be and am almost sure will be. But 5-10 years is such a long time, one never knows what will happen by that time.

I went to Dental school at N.Y.U. .and I lived inear the village in the sixties..thus...lol.... "some of my best friends are gay" {some died from aids unfortunately} I am conservative in international poltics but very liberal socially..so don't get my posts wrong..I kill for peace..but I've also went with my friends{and wife to gay bars in the day)! Lots of Orthodox in general here, especially Greeks and Russians. the Greek Ortho church here is right next to the Orthodox Synagogue. We have a great community where we live. I loved living just outside the village while in school..14th street.. but I love being near Philly, Atlantic city and yet can still go to New York or Baltimore for the day. Speak to you buddy! America-Hye
Hey Jewish Friend, You would be surprised to know who my Armenian relatives are, because you would probably recognize their names from the prominence of their spouses. These Armenians rubbing shoulders with the top echelons of the east coast Jewish elite. Even Dr. David Reuben is married to an Armenian, but they now live in Costa Rica like royalty because of the cost of living there (a literal palace and numerous servants to do EVERYTHING). Similar to my brother's close friend, an American Jewish industrialist who lives in Lomas de Chapultepec in Mexico city, a distirict which makes Beverly Hills look like a poor town. Americans who have left the US to live very high-on-the-hog in Latin America.

America-Hye
No, JF, these are not poor East European Jews who lived on the lower East Side of NY. These are people who moved there AFTER they made it in the US. The poor Jewish elderly who now live in the Bronx, did not go to Mexico City and can't go there now. So I doubt that you have Jewish relatives there. I can differentiate bona-fide Jewish geography from your jokes. My posting here was to show some of the dans-klooch Armenians here (those from the Former Soviet Union and Middle East) how different American Armenians are from them vis-a-vis Armenian/Jewish relations. Knowing how enamored Armenians are with status (I drive a 10 year old car and live in a studio apartment even though I could afford more), I gave them some tidbits of the "benefits" of being progressive Armenians. Internet thing. My realtives went directly to Mexico city circa 1900. they built up a department store chain and are very successful i understand what you are saying. You are referring to proplr who made it more recently and then moved out of country to live like kings! I hear you. Two different circumstances..both good results. all Armos I have known have been porfessional with money. My father'as best friend growing up was Armo..in Queens New York..and guess what?..he came out later and life..was Bi..but he died from aids. Back then no one knew what it was. anyway..Armos here are doctors, lawyers etc. some Armos like Hovnian are big name builders. I refer patients to an orthodontist who is Armenian. we are all cool here. you are right..assimilating here is the greatest thing in life. No country..including Israel, would appeal to me over this country. you can be yourself here, keep your religion, and still be part of God's greatest gift to the world..FREEDOM to be the best you want to be. I live good mself..but my greatest joy is my lovely wife..my kids..not so bad either..one is married. Speak to ya brother! JF
