Yervant1
More such steps by Azerbaijan would mean the complete collapse of theMG Process: David Babayan20:38 • 10.04.16At the moment, the situation is relatively sustainable, although theenemy continues to violate ceasefire in some places, but all is quiet, there is no dead and wounded in comparison with April 1-5. In aninterview with Tert.am Press-secretary of the NKR President DavidBabayan said.He noted that the Armenian side should always be ready for any development."First of all, we must believe in our forces, the army, the people andthe unity. Azerbaijan –is a fascist, terrorist country, and be cannever believe them. Our army must be strong, must draw the appropriateconclusions after the four day war. Shortcomings have to be corrected;it will be a key factor for peace and stability. But I think that ifAzerbaijan once again goes to such steps, it would mean the completecollapse of the OSCE Minsk Group process and there will be no need forthe negotiations,"- he said.As for the fact, whether the mandate of the Minsk Group included theinvestigation which side first began, David Babayan noted thatmechanisms should be introduced for this purpose, so that violationshave reduced, as otherwise such process cannot be controlled.https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.tert.am_en_news_2016_04_10_babayan_1987695&d=CwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=WByIT7WPz4ZmHcpCXHfBYHUZB3qgA8jemQxukvGseBc&s=CvmU9e6cUekzXU9YX0PBRfUgAp-_qW4L_3qLFa8dgG8&e=

Laurence Kueffer
Any reliable sources for enemy casualties, during the April, 2016, fighting on the Armenian Front, in Karabakh? What about neutralized tanks & aircraft? And, did we take back all of the ground, lost on April 1st? While Armenian figures are generally quite reliable, Azerbaijan has made it a general practice to under-report its losses. Many news reports rely upon untrustworthy sources from Azerbaijan. Armenian estimates generally give a better indication of Azeri losses. Has the accuracy of Armenian estimates been confirmed well enough to override falsified estimates, from Azerbaijan and Turkey? By the way: I'm a Germanic-Armenian, in Northern California, with 100% maternal Armenian ancestry. This is my first post here. I've been very active (as one of few Armenians), at a forum, heavily infiltrated with Turks. I might be spending less time there soon. Yervant1
Hi Laurence, welcome to Hyeforum I hope you find here what you are looking for even though we are not that busy like before I guess the time for forums are in the past with the arrival of Facebook and Instagrams. As for your questions about the casualties, I feel the same way as you do. There are some figures in this thread reported before, definitely it would be nice to have the exact numbers. In the past some of our members ventured into turkish forums for discussion and found out that it was a useless effort because they are not open for discussion but spew the hatred that they learned in schools during their childhood.
Yervant1
LobeLogApril 10 2016Turkey-Russia Antagonism Playing Out in Karabakhby Dorian JonesThe enmity that has been building between Turkey and Russia isspilling over into the Karabakh conflict.Heavy fighting in Karabakh between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces onApril 2-5 marked the bloodiest point of the decades-long conflictsince 1994. A two-day-long ceasefire appeared at risk of collapsing onApril 7, as both sides accused the other of violations. The Karabakh conflict now threatens to turn into a proxy fight betweentwo regional powers – Turkey and Russia. Bilateral relations betweenthe two states went into a tailspin last November, when the Turkishmilitary shot down a Russian jet on a mission in Syria. Ankara hasrankled Moscow with clear-cut statements of support for Azerbaijan, acountry with which Turkey has close linguistic and culturalconnections.“We are today standing side-by-side with our brothers in Azerbaijan,”Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told an Ankara audience onApril 4, “but this persecution will not continue forever. Karabakhwill one day return to its original owner. It will be Azerbaijan’s.”Taking his cue from the president, Turkish Prime Minister AhmetDavutoglu chimed in the next day that “Turkey will standshoulder-to-shoulder with Azerbaijan until doomsday against Armenia’saggression and occupation.”Turkish analysts say the Karabakh conflict has captured publicattention. “The fighting [in Karabakh] has touched a very sensitivechord in Turkish hearts,” noted Murat Bilhan, a former Turkishambassador and deputy chairperson of the Ankara-based,government-friendly Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies.“Whether [the Azerbaijanis] are right or wrong, they are supported.”Statements of solidarity with Azerbaijan also may have a domesticpolitical purpose for Erdogan and his administration, some politicalanalysts contend. By stirring up patriotic, pan-Turkic feelings athome, Erdogan may be hoping to attract nationalist support for his ownattempt to push through constitutional amendments that would enhancehis presidential powers. “The Turkish president is using everything tocajole the nationalist voters and every occasion to use and abuse thisnationalist sentiment,” argued political scientist Cengiz Aktar ofIstanbul’s Süleyman Sah University.Erdogan earlier took aim at international mediators – Russia, theUnited States and France – tasked with overseeing peace talks onKarabakh under the auspices of the OSCE’s Minsk Group. The Turkishpresident asserted that “if the Minsk Group had taken fair anddecisive steps” to resolve the conflict, the outbreak of violence thatday [April 2], the worst since the 1994 ceasefire, would not haveoccurred. Some observers have interpreted his words as a disavowal of diplomacy.Sinan Ülgen, a visiting specialist on Turkish foreign policy at theCarnegie Europe think-tank in Brussels, underlined that Erdogan’swords are indicative of a potential policy shift, and “certainly pointto a different, a more activist direction that Turkey is willing to[take].”The government’s choice of words also is a matter of concern forpolitical scientist Aktar. “The entire international community iscalling on all sides to stop the fighting, whereas Turkey is [the]only country which openly call … [on] Armenia to stop fighting anddeclares to the entire world that it is behind Azerbaijan, and this isvery unusual and very worrisome.”The rhetoric of Turkish officials has grabbed the attention ofArmenian and Russian media, which contend that Turkey is interveningon Azerbaijan’s side, and thus complicating efforts to bring a halt tothe fighting.Government-linked or financed Russian media have launched abroad-based smear campaign against Turkey. The Sputnik news serviceregularly reposts claims from Armenian politicians and officials thatcast Turkey as a regional troublemaker. “Syria is not the only placewhere the Turkish government keeps putting spokes into others’wheels,” one article observed.Other Russian outlets have not hesitated to spread unsubstantiatedrumors. For example, citing an unnamed “military source,” LifeNews TV,an outlet allegedly close to the Russian security services, reportedon April 4 that “between 50 and 60” Azerbaijani ISIS fighters weretraveling back home from Syria via Turkey to join the Karabakh fight.Russia’s media strategy underscores the Kremlin’s sensitivity toTurkey’s perceived efforts to encroach geopolitically in the Caucasus.Until now, Russia has sought to maintain a relative balance in itsrelations with Armenia and Azerbaijan. While Russia is widelyconsidered to be Armenia’s strategic ally in the Caucasus, the Kremlinhas tried to maintain “parity” in recent years in its arms sales toYerevan and Baku. The question at this stage that some experts areasking is: if heavy fighting erupts again, will Russia start sidingmore clearly with Armenia to counter Turkish support for Azerbaijan?Regardless of whether Karabakh developments in the coming weeks startpushing Russia toward Armenia, the renewed fighting in the contestedenclave seems sure to complicate efforts to bring about a thaw inTurkish-Russian relations.Bilhan, the retired ambassador, expressed hope that existing tensioncould be set aside soon. “These countries need one another, be it intrade, energy. I don’t see how they will deny one another thesebenefits,” he said.Others are not optimistic that reason can prevail any time soon.“The few signs of normalization between Turkey and Russia are justweak signs,” cautioned Ülgen. “There is no reason to expectnormalization will happen anytime soon, given that acrimony has becomequite personal between Erdogan and Putin.”Dorian Jones is a freelance reporter based in Istanbul. Yervant1
StratforApril 10 2016Armenia's Isolation Laid BareAnalysisBy Eugene ChausovskyThe tension in Yerevan was palpable. Overnight April 1, just a fewdays before I arrived in the city, fighting had broken out in thedisputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, home to a quasi-independentstatelet backed by Armenia known as the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Theline of contact where Karabakh fighters clashed with Azerbaijanisoldiers was around 300 kilometers (186 miles) away, but in Yerevan itfelt much closer. I found myself in the city amid the breakdown of acease-fire that had largely held since 1994.Walking the streets, I caught snatches of nervous conversation – againand again I heard people mention "Azerbaijan" and "Artsakh," theArmenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh. The emotional attachment on thepart of the capital city's residents to the small breakaway republicwas clearly strong. Large groups of men huddled around taxis and onstreet corners to listen intently to news of the conflict being playedon the radio. Taxi drivers could speak of nothing else. Everyoneseemed to have at least one relative or friend living inNagorno-Karabakh.The fighting proved to be short-lived, and within three days acease-fire was back in place. Just like that, the conflict gave way tothe uneasy peace that has predominated for over two decades. Or hadit? The question still remained: Why did the conflict break out in thefirst place? It may have been just another historical blip, or itcould presage a larger conflict to come, perhaps one involvingregional heavyweights Turkey and Russia, or even Western powers. Andwhat was the role of those powers in the current fighting?I discussed these questions with anyone I could — governmentofficials, political analysts, journalists and ordinary people. Theiropinions varied in the details, but they generally agreed on threethings. Most of them blamed Azerbaijan for initiating the fightingbecause the status quo is favorable to Armenia but detrimental toBaku's interests. Many also believed (correctly) at the outset of theconflict that the fighting was unlikely to spark a larger war. Theynoted, with anxiety, that Armenia stands alone in Nagorno-Karabakh,with no one to turn to for help. These are all, of course, simply opinions. Moreover, they are informedby fear and national bias. But they do provide some insight into themindset of the Armenian people. The last of them, Armenia's isolation,is particularly noteworthy because it has grounding in Armenia'scurrent geopolitical position. The nation is located in the unstableCaucasus region, along with Georgia, Azerbaijan and the volatileRussian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan. The region is surroundedby Russia, Turkey and Iran – three massive powers with diverginginterests. Tiny Armenia clearly occupies a tough position and, becauseof it, must navigate a complex web of relationships. Yerevan ishostile toward Azerbaijan because of Nagorno-Karabakh, and it also hasa tense relationship and closed border with Turkey, which supportsAzerbaijan. Georgia also cooperates closely with Azerbaijan and Turkeyon energy and security matters. Iran is not a major geopoliticalplayer in the Caucasus, at least for now.To survive in such a volatile environment, Armenia has chosen tostrategically align itself with Russia since the fall of the SovietUnion, joining both the Eurasian Economic Union and the CollectiveSecurity Treaty Organization. Armenia hosts nearly 5,000 Russiantroops in the 102nd military base in Gyumri, and Russia is responsiblefor guarding Armenia's border with Turkey. Russia owns much ofArmenia's strategic infrastructure, including energy pipelines andtelecommunications firms, and the country's economy is closely tied tothat of Russia. But this loyalty is not always reciprocal. Whereas friendship withRussia is a top priority for Armenia, the relationship is not the onlyinterest for Moscow, and Russia needs to weigh it against otherstrategic considerations. Its response to the recent outbreak ofconflict demonstrated this. Rather than backing Armenia militarily orpolitically in the hostilities, Russian officials instead called forcalm. Armenians were quick to point out that Russia is a majorsupplier of weapons to Azerbaijan, some of which were used by Baku inthe recent escalation. Moscow has taken an evenhanded politicalapproach with Yerevan and Baku, and Russian Prime Minister DmitriMedvedev visited both capitals in succession on April 7 and April 8.Russia's balanced response may seem odd given Armenia's loyalty andAzerbaijan's often confrontational attitude toward Moscow. Baku'sstrategic partnership with Ankara makes it seem even stranger. MostArmenians I spoke to, however, put forward theories about Russia'sresponse (or lack thereof). Some thought Moscow wanted hostilities toescalate in Nagorno-Karabakh so that it could intervene later andextend its influence over both Armenia and Azerbaijan. They believedRussia's military presence in Armenia was less a security guarantee inthe conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh than a check on the power of Turkeyand the West. Others saw Russia in a more positive light but admittedthat Moscow's larger struggles with Turkey over Syria and with theWest over Ukraine manifest in the Caucasus and exacerbate conflicts, sometimes to the detriment of Armenia. The latest conflict is just another reminder of Armenia's unenviablegeopolitical position. Its valuable alliance with Russia has nothelped in the last few days amid a flare-up in greatest threat toArmenian security. But Yerevan has no one else to turn to: Turkey isallied with Azerbaijan, and the West is not willing to risk aconfrontation with Russia, as shown by its inaction in Georgia.Armenia's commercial and political ties with Iran might later provevaluable, but at the moment Tehran is in no position to play ameaningful role in the Caucasus or to challenge Russia in anycapacity. Someday, though, that could change. For now, Armenia must to a great extent fend for itself inNagorno-Karabakh. Unless the simmering tension boils over into afull-blown conflict on par with the war of 1988-1994, the attitudes ofRussia and other regional players will likely remain the same. Thenext steps are unclear, but the truce is shaky at best, meaningviolence may flare up in the region. When it does, Yerevan will finditself unsettled and anxious once again, with little help from itsallies.https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.stratfor.com_analysis_armenias-2Disolation-2Dlaid-2Dbare&d=CwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=P1yfaTYa_1xYnOqHlA91zRQFRHTuHzKOLG9ofhA5F4k&s=0DH0q320zhbWZ9p8R56ZAFm10-gqIwV3PA8L1WjjhFk&e=

Thedemonstration was organized by Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF)Sebouh Gomideh, in cooperation with the Soorp Khatch ArmenianApostolic Church, and featured a strong showing of area youth from theArmenian Youth Federation, Armenian General Athletic Union (HMEM), andthe local Hamasdegh Armenian School. The Armenian crowd of well over 150 rallied outside Baku’s diplomaticmission, just off of Washington’s famed Embassy Row, brandishingprinted banners and chanting pro-peace messages. They were met by asmall counter-protest drawn from the families of Azerbaijani Embassystaff – celebrating the Aliyev government’s brutal onslaught that thatresulted in over 100 casualties on both sides, including the death of12-year-old boy and execution and mutilation of an elderly Armeniancouple in Talish.“We stood strong today at Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Washington – inconcert with Armenians in cities across the globe who are protestingBaku’s violence – to send a powerful message to Ilham Aliyev to stophis aggression against Nagorno Karabakh,” said ARF Sebouh ChapterChairman and Chairman of the Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic ChurchBoard of Trustees Aram Sarafian. “As Americans, we are appalled atAzerbaijan’s reckless disregard for human life — whether Armenian orAzeri — and the Aliyev regime’s deliberate violation of 1994 ceasefireand ongoing negotiations brokered by the United States and other OSCEMinsk Group countries. Our commitment to a free and independentArtsakh is unyielding, and we continue to work to ensure the safetyand security of the Armenian people.”On April 2nd, just days after meeting with Vice-President Biden andSecretary of State Kerry in Washington, DC, Azerbaijani PresidentIlham Aliyev attacked Nagorno Karabakh with heavy artillery andadvanced weaponry that led to the death of over 30 Armenians andscores of Azerbaijanis. Over 60 Armenian American organizations havecalled on President Obama to clearly and publicly condemn Azerbaijan’sattack and put in place concrete measures to ensure peace, includingthe zeroing out of all military assistance to Azerbaijan and enforcingSection 907 of the Freedom Support Act restrictions on U.S. aid tothat country. Yervant1
Vardan Devrikyan: 18-19-year-old soldiers taking offence at remarks‘‘don’t be afraid''SOCIETY 09:19 11/04/2016 ARMENIAParticipant to Artsakh war, literature expert, board member toYerkrapah Volunteer Union Vardan Devrikyan who headed for Artsakh onApril 3 and joined the Defense Army have no idea when would be back.“The question should be addressed to Aliyev,” he joked then added’''Of course, not Aliyev - our army with its actions will set the datefor our return. We may stay as long as necessary,'' devrikyan toldPanorama.amThe war veteran drew parallels with the 1992-1994 war and the recentfour-day military operations.“Several similarities and only two differences are observed. The firstdifference is in the fact that when people in 1992 left Martakert theycalled it Martakert migration, as people thought they would neverreturn to their settlements as it happened in 1915. In these dayspeople leaving Talish and Mataghis never though of leaving the placeforever. That was an organized evacuation; people were aware that wasnot a migration and that the frontline would be restored. This factdemonstrates we are already devoid of migrant psychology. Everybodyrealized that failures at war were not excluded and at the same timeunderstood that was a fight run by a state with army. There was theunderstanding that significant achievement will follow possiblefailures.”“People left their houses through taking only bed linen to spend thenight in a nearby village under some roof. They were assured to beback soon. Some people even did not leave their places being sure thefrontline will not be broken. One similarity is that the adversary asin the previous war failed to cause fear and panic, undermine thebelief in our army, people.”Devrikyan reflected on the volunteer movements saying he doubtedinitially about the number of people to be ready to joint the army.«What happened later exceeded all expectations. The problem was notgathering people in order to put more experienced veterans next to our18-19-year-old soldiers, but the large number, as we had to ask someof them to wait in Armenia. I lived through touching moments, whichreminded of literary heroes and stories. Yerkrapah working in thevillages and fields took cars and came to Yerevan. The main conclusionto be drawn is that allegations that the main people left Armenian andonly the weak and oppressed stayed appeared to be wrong. The mostviable and the struggling part is still in Armenia. Veterans ofArtsakh war visited, whose grandsons were serving in army. They wantedto visit the site where their children were. A father and son came whowished to join their grandson and the son respectively,” Devrikyantold. He assured that the military knowledge as well as the experience fromthe war strengthened the defense line even more.“We saw a harmonious consolidation of several generations,” Devrikyanemphasized, adding that 18 years old behaved like 40 years old, whileveterans aged 40-50 felt younger.Devrikyan wondered over the self-confidence, decisiveness and will ofthe 18-19 years old. Soldiers took offence at remarks like staystrong, do not be afraid. They were concentrated solely on defendingthe frontline. They felt no fear and the only idea was aboutcounteracting the enemy.”Devrikyan said 18-year-old soldiers, the high military commanders, andvolunteers were united in strengthening the defense lines, making adecent counterattack.https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.panorama.am_en_news_2016_04_11_Vardan-2DDevrikyan_1560455&d=CwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=9K7HZtfiq1qOIumO_sWMYW4NAijyouYi4-5ZB2X95XQ&s=Rz3sXP5kARhNbE3ZQlSeUSUZUMq-xsvUgsR3LxdiNiQ&e=
Yervant1
Tevan Poghosyan. “Russia if not the instigator then at least is theprovider of hostilities.”April 11 2016“Russia if not the instigator then, at least, is the provider of thesehostilities to take place. I regret that Russia being a Minsk Groupco-chair country does not perceive that with its actions itcontributes to the fact that Azerbaijan continues its aggression. Iwould be happy to hear that as a Minsk Group co-chair country Russiaapplies to the UN Security Council to impose sanctions against anycountry in the world that will sell weapons to Azerbaijan” – said the“Heritage” faction MP Tevan Poghosyan in an interview with Aravot.am,referring to the statement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister DmitryRogozin yesterday that Russia, in accordance with the agreements, willcontinue to sell weapons to Azerbaijan and Armenia. In the interviewto BBC, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also confirmed it today. The saddest in the statements of Russian officials, according to theopposition MP, is that they state that both countries are Russia’sstrategic partners. “Which means that even the top RF officials do nothave the consciousness that Armenia is a strategic ally but notAzerbaijan and there should be differences between these countries. This means that the level at which decisions are made in Russia, thereis a problem of perception about the regional and federal relations.Russia does not know who his partner is and is unable to understandhow to normalize its relations,” said Tevan Poghosyan, adding thatwith these kinds of moves, Rogozin and Medvedev do not add anything toRussia’s relations with Azerbaijan, “Azerbaijan will always remainRussia’s currently enemy Turkey’s best ally. Russia will never be ableto change the behavior of Azerbaijan to Turkey with which Russia isconfronting today. But thereby, they promoted that no positive problemwill develop in Armenia towards Russia. On the contrary, more negativefeelings appeared toward the strategic ally. It turned to be a zeroeffect with Azerbaijan, a negative effect with Armenia. If this is thepolicy of Russia, then it is their choice. We should learn lessons, separate our interests and guided by our interests.”Recently, the Armenian side used a heavy diplomatic language. TevanPoghosyan believes that we should not express tough position but showa tough stance. It might be a variety of activities: voting in theinternational organizations not driven by Russia’s but Armenia’sinterests, disclosure and elimination of corruption schemes of Russiancompanies operating in Armenia and so on.Nelly GRIGORYANhttps://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__en.aravot.am_2016_04_11_175568_&d=CwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=QCFoiiLu3LyJfrclGkjO-hXlf4oxnC5bCIZgx6k4Ceo&s=PqIVkpm-xnEjSLDVumK4WwKtrj74sVq4DSzdtpzdCAc&e=
Yervant1
Nagorno Karabakh has proofs of ISIS militants' involvement inAzerbaijan's recent aggression: Armenian Delegation to voice the issueat PACEby Tatevik ShahunyanMonday, April 11, 13:30Stepanakert, the capital city of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, hasproofs that representatives of other nations fought on the side ofAzerbaijan during that country's recent aggression against NagornoKarabakh. The statement came from David Babyan, Spokesperson for theNKR President, in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia. In this light, the Armenian Delegation to PACE will raise the issue ofparticipation of mercenaries and militants of various terroristorganizations, including the "Islamic State," in the Azerbaijaniaggression against Nagorno Karabakh."Soldiers that fought the enemy in the battlefield could see thatamong them were people speaking in Arabic, Turkish and persons of ripeyears. They were mercenaries. We have grounds to say that some of themwere militants of terrorist groups, in particular, of the 'IslamicState,' 'Grey Wolves' and others," Babayan said.He said that the atrocities the Azerbaijani side committed inKarabakh, such as beheadings and mutilation of fighters and civilians, are the ISIS-style crimes.https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.arminfo.am_index.cfm-3Fobjectid-3D07118940-2DFFC8-2D11E5-2D94F40EB7C0D21663&d=CwIBaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=9fQ44mJNJbdtc2dc7h0yxxpPcF38za3lMkQBXkwp0BI&s=Rdf8qkUpQgiXRL3ritOfg_WfoMysgIPwaZA8t1ZvBCA&e=
Yervant1
We keep hearing all the time that if they do it one more time they will get strong response, it seems this one more time will never end.Azerbaijan proposed truce because Armenian forces forced it to – Movses Hakobyan13:21 • 11.04.16Vice-Chief of the Joint Staff, Armed Forces of Armenia, MovsesHakobyan, in an interview with Azatutyun Radio on Sunday, answered aquestion as to whether it was impossible to predict Azerbaijan’slarge-scale actions along the Line of Contact on the night of April 2.“We had intelligence data, but the Nagorno-Karabakh border is ratherlong. It is difficult to know what is going to happen at a particularplace. We knew the enemy would launch an attack and our armed forcestook relevant measures,” Mr Hakobyan said.Asked how long the ceasefire may continue, he said:“First of all I should say that it was Azerbaijan that proposed atruce by applying to the Joint Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. Andwe can say once more that the Armenian soldiers forced the enemy intoa truce once again. It is difficult to say how long the situation willlast, but the fact is that the Armenian forces are ready to preventany attacks by the enemy. I believe the enemy will draw relevantconclusions and if they make one more attempt to settle theNagorno-Karabakh problem in such a way once more, they will receive atougher rebuff,” Mr Hakobyan said.https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.tert.am_en_news_2016_04_11_movses-2D2_1987927&d=CwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=LVw5zH6C4LHpVQcGEdVcrQ&m=VSOr4XAaefADOpuOWXzxzuRGhXeDdU2KoSmVxW_17r0&s=nyrzN5wNsmusGBPr53UrYP6VjdXpnh71hI51h0cOee8&e=

Yervant1
Baku confirms death of Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel April 11, 2016 - 13:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Baku confirmed the death of a Lieutenant Colonelfrom the Azeri Special Forces, Haqqin.az reports. Baku's attempts to conceal the number of fighters killed in the courseof clashes between Karabakh and Azerbaijan since April 2 provedineffective. According to Azerbaijani media outlets, the body of Murad Telman oğluMirzayev, who was killed in recent clashes with Karabakh, will betransported to Baku by helicopter. Mirzayev was reportedly killed “in a special combat mission.” The parties to the Karabakh conflict agreed on a bilateral ceasefirealong the contact line which came into force at midday, April 5. Prior to that, on the night of April 1-2, Azerbaijani armed forcesinitiated overt offensive operations in the southern, southeastern andnortheastern directions of the line of contact with Nagorno Karabakh. As of April 5, the Azerbaijani side has lost 26 tanks and 4 infantryfighting vehicles, as well as 1 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher, 1engineering vehicle, 2 military helicopters and 14 unmanned aerialvehicles. The Azerbaijani side has admitted the loss of 31 fighters, 1helicopter and 1 unmanned drone, whereas the Armenian side's photo andvideo materials show dozens of killed Azerbaijani troops, 1 helicopterand 3 UAVs. Opposition media outlets, however, reported on the deathof 93 Azerbaijani soldiers, stating that 33 more have been wounded.According to Karabakh authorities, 300 Azerbaijani soldiers werekilled in clashes. 14 Karabakh tanks have been neutralized since April 2. Yervant1
Political scientist: “Kharabakh can’t be part of Azerbaijan”April 10 2016“That means this issue is also part of the negotiation process. It isclear that Armenia should speak out that Kharabakh can’t be part ofAzerbaijan or subject to Azerbaijan. It is clear that this will bediscussed and Azerbaijan won’t agree with it”, in interview withAravot.am said the political scientist Stepan Grigoryan referring tothe observation of the OSCE Minsk group’s co-chair Igor Popov thatconsideration of the NKR as a part of Azerbaijan is an element of thenegotiation process.Stepan GrigoryanThe political scientist also considers necessary the installation ofequipments in the contact line between opposing forces of Kharabakhand Azerbaijan, which will help to determine which side opened thefire: “We must demand if they don’t do so, we will not consider itcorrect to negotiate. We must show willingness to negotiate andmeanwhile to say if these issues are not solved, it is useless tonegotiate, as Azerbaijan “negotiates” and then starts a war. It isalso necessary to withdraw the snipers”.The co-chairs’ announcement that it is not the function of the Minskgroup to find out who attacked first and they don’t have a mandate tostart an inquiry, Mr. Grigoryan responded: “How happened that duringthe last five years the Minsk group speak out about the sniper issue, and about the equipment during last year?
