Azerbaijan has launched a withering attack on Kim Kardashian after she
urged people to 'pray for Armenia' amid the outbreak of violence
between the two countries.

The Armenian-American reality TV star posted the message to millions
of followers on Instagram and Twitter after dozens of people were
killed in fighting in the region.

She uploaded a picture of tanks and two helicopters along with the
message: 'Praying for everyone in Armenia and all around the world
#PrayForPeace.'

Azerbaijan's ambassador to the United States attacked her for weighing
into politics and war, saying she should stick to TV.


Elin Suleymanov told Foreign Policy: 'I'm not sure Ms Kardashian is a
military or political analyst, so maybe we should all do what we do
best.

'I personally would be a very bad reality TV star, so I try not to
cross into areas I'm not familiar.


'She's very famous and beloved by her fans, but matters of war and
peace are a little too serious for a reality TV star.'

Kim's sister Khloe also posted a message on her Twitter account asking
her followers to 'Pray for Armenia'.


At least 75 people have been killed in the worst fighting between
Armenian and Azerbaijani forces over the disputed region of
Nagorno-Karabakh for decades.

The bloodshed is the worst since the early 1990s, when Armenia-backed
separatists seized control of Nagorny Karabakh, a majority ethnic
Armenian region inside Azerbaijan, in a war that claimed some 30,000
lives.

The two sides have never signed a peace deal, despite a 1994
ceasefire, and sporadic violence along the line of contact regularly
claims the lives of soldiers on both sides.

Energy-rich Azerbaijan, whose military spending exceeds Armenia's
entire state budget, has repeatedly threatened to take back the
breakaway region by force.



Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian on Wednesday urged the
international community to respect Karabakh's right to determine its
own future.

Speaking after a long-planned meeting in Berlin with Chancellor Angela
Merkel, he took a swipe at Armenian ally Russia, saying it was
'painful for us that Russia and other countries... sell weapons to
Azerbaijan'.

Merkel called on the two sides 'to do everything in their power to
stop the bloodshed and loss of life' and said international mediation
was 'of the greatest urgency'.

The German leader also said she would host Azerbaijan's President
Ilham Aliyev for talks in June.

Azeri actions against Artsakh resemble ISIS atrocities

International press compares the actions of Azerbaijan forces in Artsakh to the atrocities done by ISIS.

The involvement of the members of ISIS in Azerbaijan and their participation in Artsakh-Azerbaijani borders in April has become a matter of discussion and great concern in different international media sources.

In Italian Spondasud.it website the analyst finds similarities between actions of Azerbaijani in Artsakh and actions done by ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The Italian site stresses that beheading people or cutting their ears is typical of terrorists and the members of ISIS tend to boast about it.

In Ezdipress website, the cruel death of the soldier of Yezidi decent and the publication of the photos have awakened great contempt among yezidi users. In the comment section of the website there are hundreds of comments, where the readers draw parallels between Azerbaijan and ISIS, stressing that Azerbaijan is not that different from ISIS. Majority of users consider the actions of Azerbaijan military forces as war crimes. In the same website Azerbaijani users also took in part in the discussion, these users not only they accept atrocities done by Azerbaijani soldiers, but also they stress that everything is allowed during war.

The fact,that the members of ISIS are fighting in Karabakh, is also confirmed by the ISNA site. “100 Azerbaijani solders who are members of ISIS, have returned to their home country from Syria in order to participate in the war against NK,” the site writes.

ISNA writes that the members of ISIS, who are of Azerbaijani decent and whose number is near 100, have left Syria with the intention of participating in Karabakh War, are returning to their country through Turkey.

In this context, the news provided by the Azerbaijan media are crucially important, that Turkish special subdivision have arrived in Azerbaijan in a helicopter to move the bodies of the fellow soldiers to Turkey. Doing the analysis the media sources mentioned above point out the participation of Azerbaijan in ISIS and that the number of soldiers were 3000.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan raised the issue of Russian deliveries of armaments to Azerbaijan, saying that they were “fully used” in the latest outbreak of violence in the Karabakh conflict zone, as he received Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev late on Thursday.

During the meeting Sargsyan said that the matter had elicited a “great resonance” in Armenia “because people in Armenia consider Russia to be its closest ally and friend.”

“Now there is a situation in which we do not exclude another provocation… Without having any great illusions, we expect from the Minsk Group co-chairs and our allies targeted statements and concrete actions,” he said.

Earlier, at a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan called for acceleration of the planned delivery of $200 million worth of Russian weapons to Armenia.

The deal is viewed as critical to Armenia to keep up its military balance with Azerbaijan, which in recent years has acquired $4 billion worth of modern offensive and other weapons from Russia.

It used such lethal weapons as TOS-1 and Smerch in its offensive operations in Nagorno-Karabakh on April 2-5.

Premier Medvedev, for his part, said that “now the most important thing is to preserve peace and return to the negotiating table, even if the background of these negotiations is, to put it mildly, not the very best.”

“There is no alternative to peace talks,” the head of the Russian government said, as quoted by Sargsyan’s press office.

During the meeting Sargsyan also voiced regret that “some of our partners in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) refused to come to Yerevan to participate in an earlier planned event.”

Earlier, it transpired that Kazakhstan, a key member of the Russian-led trade bloc, asked for the venue of the EEU summit scheduled for April 8 to be moved to Moscow, apparently conditioning its reluctance to take part in the meeting by the latest flare-up of tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenian side should be prepared, because large-scale military operations on the frontline can resume, said head of ARF Dashnaktsutyun faction, Armen Rustamyan during a parliamentary briefing.

“We should take into account the type of our enemy, who is capable of any shady undertaking. We can expect a full-scale war from that enemy, who doesn’t want to fit in any international norms. Azerbaijan doesn’t fit in within the coexistence of those norms, therefore we must always be vigilant,” Rustamyan said.

He also said that Armenian army successfully thwarted the enemy’s plan due to the fact that the Armenian side was prepared.

“The spirit of our soldiers stunned them. With this step, Aliyev tried to repeat Hitler, become like him. It’s the same fascist handwriting, and Aliyev must have the same end as Hitler, the same fate of the dictator awaits him. It was the spirit of the Soviet people that ousted Hitler’s plans. If you have a country led by a regime, you should always consider this danger,” added the parliamentarian.

Karen Bekaryan: We witness a total collapse of the Azerbaijani state

“What we see along the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan today has have no precedent since 1994,” member to the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Karen Bekaryan told reports at a press conference.

According to him, the adversary has been getting ready for the attack for 22 years spending huge amounts on obtaining weapons, on top of that - the inaction of the international community.

“We witnessed a planned blitzkrieg on different directions. The result is evident. I would call that a total collapse of the Azerbaijani state, the Aliyev regime, collapse of the authorities, victory of the NKR army. While such a preparedness should have implied a seizure of one third of the adversary territory,” Bekaryan noted.

The parliamentarian next underscored that the war once again came to prove that that without Artsakh direct involvement the conflict may have no settlement, no progress.

“The army lived up to its task and at present the diplomacy should keep in with army,” Bekaryan concluded.

Russia to continue arms supplies to Azerbaijan under contracts

Russia will continue delivering weapons to Azerbaijan as its strategic partner under existing contracts, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Friday, TASS.

The Russian vice-premier thus commented on a journalists’ request to comment on a statement by the Armenian President that Russia had supplied a large amount of weapons to Azerbaijan and specify if Russia planned to continue these deliveries.

“Everything is done in compliance with the contracts. Both countries [Armenia and Azerbaijan] are our strategic partners,” Rogozin said.

Armenians in Jerusalem to protest against selling weapons to Baku

Yerevan /Mediamax/. The Armenian community in Jerusalem will conduct a demonstration expressing support towards Artsakh.

Representative of Armenian Patriarchy in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Hayk Koryun Bagdasaryan told this to Mediamax.

According to him, the demonstration is initiated by the United Committee of Jerusalem, which combines Armenian unions functioning in Israel and Armenian Patriarchy in Jerusalem.

“We follow the situation in Artsakh and decided to conduct demonstration today against the large scaled attacks of Azeri Forces on the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh”, said Armenian Patriarchy Archimandrite.

The demonstration will take place on Friday, April 8, at 20:00, in front of the Monument of the Armenian Genocide, at the entrance of the Armenian Convent.

The Armenians in Jerusalem will organize a demonstration in front of Israeli Foreign Ministry, to express protest against Israel selling weapons to Azerbaijan.

“We found out recently that weapons bought from Israel by Azerbaijan are used against peaceful civilians in Artsakh. We cannot stay indifferent to this fact and we are planning to express our discontent to Israeli FM”, said Hayk Koryun Baghdasaryan.

He informed that the community has already received authorization to organize the demonstration.

It is very doubtful that the end result of this upsurge of violence would be favorable to Azerbaija, writes Burcu Gultekin Punsmann, a senior fellow at the Ankara Policy Center, in her article "Karabakh: Not an Armenian-Turkish war" published in the Hurriyet Daily News.

"The degree of psychological preparedness of Karabakh Armenians shouldn't be underestimated: the population is on constant alert and resolute to fight fiercely back and especially if this struggle is perceived as a struggle for survival. It is very doubtful that the end result of this upsurge of violence would be favorable to Azerbaijan." Nagorno-Karabakh might be recognized by a few states, starting with Armenia and Russia. Azerbaijan risks jeopardizing all that it was able to achieve in just a few decades.

"Turkey has a huge stake in having a stable Armenia at her border: Armenia destabilized by what would be perceived as a war of Turks against Armenians in Karabakh, would become a considerable border security risk for Turkey. Reaching out to Yerevan is of equal strategic importance and meaningful as a preventive diplomacy measure. Turkey should become the security guarantor of Armenia as much as, if not more, than the Russian military base in Gyumri just across Kars," she writes.

"There is no military solution in Karabakh," the author of the article says.

A March of Silence will be held in Yerevan on the evening of April 10 to commemorate the Armenian soldiers killed in recent clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The situation on the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijan armed forces escalated on the night of April 1-2. Some of our soldiers were killed, others wounded during the hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan. We wish to bid our last farewell to our soldiers and bow our heads to their families, but these martyrs lived in different marzes of Armenia. Looking at a retrospect, judging by the latest developments (namely the visit of Medvedev to Baku) and the sudden change of heart by the Russians, my gut feeling is that for some reason Russians are mad at us and the reason for that might be that we agreed to ceasefire rather than engaging the enemy in an counteroffensive for which all prerequisites were in place. First Medvedev laid flowers at the " Shaheeds' ally" (those are the guys that meet with Allah and the virgins). Then he said that Russia highly values centuries old brotherhood of the two people, while just a month ago Azerbaijan said that it firmly stands with Turkey against Russia. Go figure. Not only that, but Russian high official (Rogozin) said that Russia will continue selling weapons to Azerbaijan, despite the fact that such highly advanced and deadly weapons are used against peaceful populace of Artsakh and supposedly "strategic partner of Russia". And on top of everything else Medvedev talked with the criminal in power in Baku, not that much about finding acceptable to all parties solution to the war, rather transport corridor along the western edge of the Caspian between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia.

 

Maybe Russians were counting on us that we would proceed further with the military actions and destroy Azeris petrol pipes and infrastructure so that the price may go up.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Surrendering even a small piece ofKarabakh land to Azerbaijan is inadmissible, a hero of Artsakh war, Major General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan(Komandos) said Friday, April 8.

"Karabakh mustn't cede even an inch of land to Azerbaijan," the military official said. "If we give them the land, we'll be helping them suffocate us."

"Although Karabakh has suffered major losses since the escalation on April 2, in the event of unleashing large-scale military operations Azerbaijan will lose much more than it did during the last days," he said.

"30-40% of Azerbaijan's territory can be destroyed with just several missiles."

The parties to the Karabakh conflict agreed on a bilateral ceasefire along the contact line which came into force at midday, April 5.

On the night of April 1-2, Azerbaijani armed forces initiated overt offensive operations in the southern, southeastern and northeastern directions of the line of contact with Nagorno Karabakh.

As many as 44 Karabakh servicemen were killed and 122 were wounded in the course of military operations.

As of April 5, the Azerbaijani side has lost 26 tanks and 4 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as 1 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher, 1 engineering vehicle, 2 military helicopters and 14 unmanned aerial vehicles. The Azerbaijani side has admitted the loss of 31 fighters, 1 helicopter and 1 unmanned drones, whereas the Armenian side's photo and video materials show dozens of killed Azerbaijani troops, 1 helicopter and 3 UAVs.

14 Karabakh tanks have been neutralized since April 2.

Political analyst: We should impose new conditions for ceasefire with Azerbaijan (video)

Statements about the presence of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone are ‘shallow talks,’ says political analyst Manvel Sargsyan. “Peacekeeping missions are deployed whenever there is a political decision. There is not such a decision,” the Director of the Armenian Centre for National and International Studies said to A1+.

Serzh Sargsyan told leading German broadcaster Deutsche Welle that Armenia never speak against the presence of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, but he added that the conflict should get a final settlement.

“He [sargsyan] says we expressed our readiness to sign a relevant document, but Azerbaijan refused this. Why should Azerbaijan agree to the deployment of peacekeepers in Karabakh. Azerbaijan has weapons and can fire whenever it wants. I see no sense here,” Manvel Sargsyan said.

The political analyst says all those who support the presence of peacekeepers in Karabakh should explain their opinion. He thinks it is time we imposed new conditions for a ceasefire with Azerbaijan.

“Yes, we should force Azerbaijani to sign an armistice with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. This is politics and it can claim lives. It is the way diplomacy is done. We should have a political line and understand that everything changes over time. If we force Azerbaijan to sign an agreement with the NKR, there will be an entirely different situation with different guarantees. That will be the recognition of the NKR by Azerbaijan,” he said.

A large and versatile game is being played over Nagorno-Karabakh, says Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan, a prominent Karabakh war veteran known as Komandos.

“If we ever agree to cede any area, it will mean we allow the enemy to come nearer and kill us easily. This is the ideology of Pan-Turkism and we all know about it,” he said.

Hero of Artsakh liberation movement Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) during today's meeting with journalists said that in these days everyone wants to support the military actions on the contact line of NKR and Azerbaijani Armed Forces, thousands of volunteers have moved to Karabakh.

"Our goal is to send as much as it is possible less people to the frontline, and the ones who can show the most effective support, have gone to Artsakh," - said Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan, noting that for this purpose they want to open a training center, where they will train soldiers, who can show support in case of the necessity.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Regulation of International Economic Relations of the State Economic University of Armenia Atom Margaryan in an interview with Tert.am commented analysis of the Blooomberg agency, according to which the situation in Artsakh has a negative impact on oil prices.

"Indeed, recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, the possible reaction and subsequent development may create a situation by extending the range of participants and stakeholders, and, yes, maybe it will be a major factor in shaping the oil and currency prices. And in this sense, of course, it is difficult not to agree with this assessment,"- said Atom Margaryan.

On the other hand, according to the latter, Azerbaijan has chosen for himself of 2 alternatives, perhaps the worst in the sense that especially in the last year the catastrophic decline of the oil prices in the world has formed a situation when Azerbaijan is just on the verge of bankruptcy in terms of budget: "Azerbaijan had 2 options: either to follow the way of military adventures, try to bring the internal problems to the so-called external front, or try to stabilize relations, reduce military expenses, and direct the available resources to the solution of socio-economic problems. So, in case of continuation of the escalation, the manufacturers, the world energy market, buyers and sellers cannot ignore this problem as a price forming factor. Let us not forget that Baku-Ceyhan pipeline passes in this region, as well as important strategic pipelines, and it is possible that in the context of the conflict these important energy pipelines and highways will also be under the gun, which can seriously affect the prices of oil and the offer and the major players can radically revise their plans."

French politicians demand imposing sanctions on Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, APRIL 8, ARMENPRESS. Under the light of international negligence Azerbaijan made another attempt to occupy Nagorno Karabakh Republic by force. “Armenpress” reports, citing French Le Monde, a group of French MPs and senators characterized the recent days’ onslaught of Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh this way. “Citizens of Nagorno Karabakh lost their lives due to the aspirations of the despot of Baku: Cities were bombed, children were killed on their way to school, civilians were murdered and vandalized by mercenaries who had arrived for that goal”, the French legislators mentioned.

They also underscore in their statement that lessons must be taken from this new aggression. “Who else is able to persuade the people of Karabakh to integrate into a country the regime of which wants to physically eliminate them? Independence and statehood has never been an end in itself for the people of Karabakh, but a means to live peacefully and safe in a democratic state that respects its citizens, is open in front of the world and looks forward”, reads the statement of the French legislators.

26 French parliamentarians that signed the statement called on the international community to take some responsibility for all these. They also submitted some proposals to the OSCE Minsk Group, based on which the negotiations will become maximally effective. First of all the French legislators find that recognition of Nagorno Karabakh Republic is necessary, which has been proving its viability and credibility. They also urge to return Nagorno Karabakh to negotiation table.

They also propose to set mechanisms investigating the ceasefire violations for ensuring effectiveness of the agreement, which is acceptable by Yerevan and Stepanakert but is declines only by Baku. Besides, Minsk Group Co-chairs are suggested to set an investigative commission, after which sanctions will be imposed on the aggressor.

François Rochebloine, René Rouquet, Valérie Boye, Sophie Joissains, Bernard Fournier, Michel Amiel, Nicolas Daragon and others have signed the statement.

Շատերս տակաւին կը յիշենք 1960, 1970 եւ 1980ական թուականներու ամերիկեան եւ իտալական «ուեսթըռն» ֆիլմերը: Վստահաբար շատեր այդ ֆիլմերուն մէջ հանդիպած են հետեւեալ պատկերին՝ ֆիլմի ոճրագործը (The villain) կը սպաննէ ֆիլմի հերոսին բարեկամը, սակայն ոճիրին լուրը սկզբնական շրջանին ծածուկ կը մնայ հերոսէն: Յուղարկաւորութեան ժամանակ յանկարծ կը տեսնենք, թէ ոճրագործը ինքն ալ յուղարկաւորներուն շարքին մէջ գերեզման կ’երթայ, արցունք թափելով կու լայ եւ ցաւակցութիւն յայտնելով կը հեռանայ:

Երէկ «ուեսթըռն» ֆիլմի մէջ պատահող վերոյիշեալ պատկերի մը հանդիպեցայ, որ այս անգամ ոչ Ամերիկայէն եւ ոչ ալ Իտալիայէն կու գար, այլ… Ազրպէյճանէն: Տիկ. Մեհրիպան Ալիեւ՝ ազերի առաջին տիկինը, ցաւակցութեան հանդիպում մը կազմակերպած էր՝ «հայերու կողմէ դատապարտելի եւ գրգռիչ յարձակումներուն ժամանակ զոհուած» ազերի զինուորներուն մայրերուն ու մօտիկներուն համար: «Որպէս մայր կը խոնարհիմ ձեր առջեւ, որովհետեւ մեծցուցիք զաւակներ, որոնցմով բոլոր երկիրը հպարտ է», ըսաւ Տիկ. Ալիեւ ու սկսաւ արցունք թափել:

Այս «ֆիլմին» մէջ սակայն հերոսը սկիզբէն գիտէր ոճրագործը, որուն դերասանական արցունքները երբեք ալ չէին խաբեր զինք: Տիկ. Ալիեւ շատ լաւ գիտէր, թէ ո՞վ էր այն պատասխանատուն, որ հրաման տուաւ առաջին կապարը կրակելու: Ո՞վ էր իսկական ոճրագործը, որ պատասխանատու էր այդ մայրերու ցաւին: Այսուհանդերձ կեցած արցունք կը թափէր՝ հին ժամանակներու մոռցուած ուեսթըռն ֆիլմի ոճրագործին պատկերը յիշեցնելով: Արաբական արածը կ’ըսէ. «Կը սպաննէ եւ անոր յուղարկաւորութեան կը մասնակցի»: Հետաքրքրական ժամկէտ ընտրուած էր այս ռազմական հարցը յարուցանելու համար՝ Ապրիլ ամիսը…:

Բան մըն ալ աւելցնեմ ՝ «ուեսթըռն» ֆիլմերուն մէջ հերոսը միշտ կը գտնէ ոճրագործը եւ անոր «բերնի համը կու տայ»:

Over 3,500 Protest Karabakh Attacks in LA, Staging Spontaneous Sit-In

Over 3,500 gathered at the Azeri Consulate General in LA to protest attacks on Artsakh

LOS ANGELES—More than 3,500 community members heeded the calls from the Armenian Youth Federation on Friday and gathered in front of the Azerbaijani Consulate on Wilshire Boulevard to protest Baku’s savage attacks on Artsakh, where civilians and children were also targets of the Azeri aggression.

At one point during the peaceful rally, the protesters, who were huddled on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Granville Avenue, began to cross the street northbound and staged a spontaneous sit-in in the middle of the street, blocking eastbound and westbound traffic.

Chanting, “Not One Inch,” protesters the protesters sent a clear message to the Azerbaijani authorities that no amount of aggression and gunfire will force Armenians to concede any territory in Artsakh.

The Los Angeles Police Department, which was caught when protesters staged the sit-in, worked with organizers to ensure the safety of the protesters and those around them. The organizers thanked LAPD for their service, as well as the community around the consulate building for understanding the just cause for which the protest was staged.

In fact, the messages delivered by the speakers were loud and resolute. That as long there is a threat to Armenians anywhere in the world—and in this instance to the population of Artsakh—the nation will come together to defend the homeland.

AYF Central Executive member Verginie Touloumian invited the crowd to observe the moment of silence in memory of the those who lost their lives in defense of Artsakh and proceeded to read the names of those soldiers, civilians and the 12-year-old boy who died during last week’s attacks by Azerbaijan.

Areni Hamparian, a member of the AYF Junior Organization, delivered a moving speech, in Armenian, declaring that as long as there was an existential threat on Artsakh, or any other Armenian land, Armenian will continue to fight for justice.

Puzant Berberian, a member of the AYF San Fernando Valley Sardarabad chapter spoke about attempts to distort facts and recounted Artsakh’s centuries old history as a bastion of Armenian culture and heroism.

AYF Central Executive Chairman Gev Iskajian directed his remarks to the Azerbaijani Consulate by delivering a clear message of resistance and condemnation, saying that a nation that won the Artsakh war in the first place, has the resolve and the means to ensure “not one inch” of land is conceded and that the brutal savagery on display by Azerbaijan would not be tolerated.

After rallying the crowd with messages of victory and heroism, Davit Arakelyan informed the crowd that the AYF’s “With Our Soldiers” campaign was busy working to ensure that our soldiers and families were taken care of and urged the community to assist in that effort, and encouraged to community to support Artsakh though the Armenian Relief Society’s fund that was established after last week’s attacks.

His message was clear: Armenians in Los Angeles and around the world will continue to fight until justice prevails and a Free, United and Independent Armenia is established.

The protesters vacated the street peacefully and moved to the front of the consulate building, where after singing the Armenian National Anthem, they collectively pledged their resolve and solidarity to Artsakh.

This was part of the Western US community mobilization effort in the wake of the renewed attacks on the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, with members and activists coming together to voice their unified protest against this, the most large-scale attack on Karabakh since the 1994 cease-fire agreement.
