Uproar About Danish Cartoons

I just want to remind everyone that Islam is a peace loving religion and Muslims are not to be blamed for all this violence. It is all because of teh idiot who created teh lighter that allows for fires to be ignited at embassies spontaneously. So blame him and not the Muslims.

A cartoon gives you no right to kill people and bomb embassies.

Supposedly here are a couple:

A note to any radical/militant muslims that might be looking at this post and have their feelings hurt .... what the hell did you think was going to happen? OF COURSE they will now be posted EVERYWHERE around the world. :D

it would be responsible for us not to post these sorts of pics on this site. i mean, this means something to somebody, not u, not me, but someone cares and finds this offensive. afterall, we're not that far away, aren't we the ones trying to perserve respect and recognition against some of the accusations about the genocide.

Responsible or not, I don't believe that 'western' socieites & cultural institutions including the media should allow themselves to be cowed by threats of violence and militantism. Granted there are sensitivities involved, but I doubt that these particular cartoons are the root cause of all this.

As much as the publications of the cartoons had an impact on inciting radicals to violence, a greater role was played by muslim activists who compiled the caricitures along with many other dipictions of their own prophet (from hatemail, and hate-organisations like the Aryan Nation etc.). They created and distributed their little booklets amongts militant imams in order to be able to exert international pressure on their own governments. The violence is in direct response to communications campaign that was conducted deliberately to induce these kinds of reactions. But who pays the price? According to you we should just shut up and heed the demands of militants lest they burn our embassies.

Western civilization is the problem here. They think they can do whatever they want, and make fun of anyone because they are 'free thinkers'

You cross the line when you make fun of religion. Truly, a religions true colors are shown when they are under attack. Christians are taught to forgive. If we weren't, there would be EVERYDAY bombings and they would carry on for months, if not years.

Bombings and violence go against the teachings of all major religions. "Poking fun" at religion does not justify, by any measure, violent behaviour. What a total cop-out. People who resort to violence in "protection" of their religion have completely missed the boat.

I couldn't agree with you more Yetvart jan; It has become a Jew country and Bush is tooting Jewish horn alongside the Britons. I'm afraid it may be a sad picture we're portraying but it is a true picture at that. You have to speak the truth and here I am speaking it.

The sad part is that no one wants to admit the facts in here except you and me. Are we the only souls that we see the whole and the real picture?

I disagree about the idea of not publishing ANYTHING because some people are sensitive... On top of that they HAVE also published similar cartoons in their newspapers. As long as they think publishing cartoons of Rabbis eating children and Christ with devil horn is okay I say we have to continue to reticule them...

Plus they have completely proven the point of the cartoons that they are savages...

Azat, I am curious to know what is your principle here? If ridiculing is wrong then you should not ridicule either. If ridiculing is permissable then they should be permitted to ridicule you. If tit for that is your principle then again they should ridicule you because they would be doing exactly 'tit for tat'. So which is it? I don't remember you ever having sensitivities about Jesus Christ or rabbis, if anything you have been insensitive yourself. So what's the matter with you now? All of a sudden you have become sensitive?

Folks, do you have any principles? If you have a principle, then stand honest and say, I am for ridiculing and I don't mind being ridiculed. Or else, cut this crap about they did it so I we should also do. And those who are religious and would like to laugh about cartoons on Prophet Mohammed I suppose you have no right to complain if your Jesus is ridiculed.

I apologize Sasun jan; you were one of the ones to also object about the Danish Cartoons to be in bad taste and not so good in them doing so. As I practice Christianity in my every day life, I happen to have real feelings, sensitivity and understanding of other religious people and how they feel and view about their religion; and frankly, personally I would've found it in a very bad taste if anyone made some bad taste jokes in a magazine or in a paper. I would not have found it funny and I would not have liked it either. As I expressed myself before, I think their approach is extreme and uncalled for, however there are other aggrevating matters that many people seem to overlook it, not see it or view it superficially and or forget about it.

This is my true feelings about the matter. Again I apologize for forgetting about your respectful views on the matter and that your views if not same are somewhat similar.

Those that get so much insulted with such cartoons are insulting themselves. If the cartoons don't represent their saint figure, why would they be offended? They are accepeting the representation on those cartoons to be the presentent of their religion, they are insulting themselves.

BTW, it's the good oll Domino there, I formated my swap partition on my little partition where I store my passwords. :D

i personally am not a beliver in any religion. in fact i believe i have made myself clear in the past saying that i believe religion is stupid...

now that that is clear to all let me clerify my anger on this matter. it has noting to do with my personal feelings for religion or religious icons like christ, etc. it has to do about hypocrisy. i believe that if someone slaps you, you should be able to slap them back. thus if muslims can make cartoons so should the christians.

hope that clerifies it for all

the day they stop their hypocrisy is when i may feel sorry

Here is where I disagree with you? Feel sorry? If they do stop this hypocrasy, I won't feel sorry. Why should I? It's a damn cartoon? We have this sort of cartoons jocking about every things everytime? Quebecers do it with Jesus very often, I don't remember manifestations of Christians.

Its damn art, why anyone should feel sorry because an art piece offend someone?

Don't you know that the USAs culture is based on the most oxymoronic religion to ever exist? The Judeo-Christian one?

I have many Jewish friends and majority hate bush and his politics, there is another breed of these people called NEO-CONS-Likudnik-sharonits, they dont even give a damn for jews ider,

I have seen many people, you are not the only one, who don't like what is going on today, and keep saying "Bush", "Neo-cons", "Republicans". To me its nonesense. I used to think in that same way before Bush came to the whitehouse. It was "Clinton", "Neo-libs", "Democrats" to me. And it didn't take me long to realise that they are two sides of the same exact coin, and in the grand scheme of things they don't oppose each other at all. Those who run the show, run the show always, no matter who is in the whitehouse and the millions of sheep go around thinking they are voting for something that they feel is in their interest. Hey actually I like these neo-cons better, at least they have fewer faces then the other side of the same coin, and with that it pisses a lot of people off.

Here is an interesting piece on the background of neo-cons:

It may seem like a fair thinking, but the problem with it is that Danish cartoons had nothing to do with cartoons made by some Muslims. And even if they were, that would in no way be justifiable. There is a huge difference between a few individuals publishing cartoons and a whole religion being insulted in response to that. You and others in this thread think that the whole of Muslim world can be ridiculed because some Muslims have ridiculed other religions, that is not fair at all and most likely has to do with a general dislike of Muslims rather than freedom of speech or what not.

The essense of the issue is some people do not understand the difference between freedom of speech and irresponsible acts, and some people do not understand that violence is not necessarily the right response to being insulted.

Because previously tonight on this thread I have answered to one of Ed's post's agreeing with him, then I said that is it only him and I to understand the aggrevations of the moslems and how they have been ridiculed by Americans and even by Hollywood movies, etc. as Ed have pointed it out, then I have agreed with him. It may be a small point to you but I have forgotten about the fact that you have also felt the sensitivity of the matter about moslems' religion and you also had similar thoughts. That is why I apologized to you; that I have forgotten about you having similar thoughts.
