oh no not again.

All this turmoil has happened, and unless I'm mistake, we have not yet heard from the "moral" leader and guide of Armenians, Holiness Garegin II... Did he attempt to calm the situation appeal for peace or unity? Did he request that the people and the government forces/police be reasonable and show restraint to avoid violent clashes? Has he said anything at all? Does anyone else think that he could have better used his position to avert some of the unpleasantness of the last few days? Or perhaps, he's also on one side or the other of the issue?

I don't understand why everyone is jumping to conclusions regarding alpha's postings. He's advocating prioritizing the economy and a peace treaty for Artsakh (in some acceptable form for both parties). I didn't see where he mentioned "giving back Artsakh" - from my understanding, the desire is for a long term settlement, which isn't a bad thing since the current outlook (as we can now plainly see) is not sustainable. Some of you say "there will never be peace" - woe is me... if that's the case than there will never be hope for anything better.

While this is certainly terrible news, I suspect that what is happening can hardly be the work of one sole person - there are numerous agents provacateur at work here, and we're only beginning to see the consequences. Just terrible.

Firstly, I had never heard the term "kleptocrat" and it's natural extension, "kleptocracy" which I think is an appropriate descriptor for RA in it's current state. The question I have with regards to the eventual improvement as you describe above is "what will be left?". When the oligarchs are finished their plundering, what will remain, and will there be enough to build a nation? Might one be tempted to think that at least some elements of the protest/opposition movement are simply voicing their impatience and/objection at continually being stolen from? This is a hopeful, and albeit a longterm (read: slow) outlook, nevertheless does make sense. But again, the pessimist in me wonders if nation will be able to withstand the continuing strains until such institutions are able to come into their own - particularly when it involves resisting not only the current hegemony, but also the political opposition. Nice to see you back btw.

Agreed - disagreements are normal, but it's rare that folks here will dislike a certain "category" of Armenians purely as a result of their provenance. There was a thread recently about diasporan Armenians accepting Hyastancis into their communities. I only read (reasonably) positive things...

I think the question that needs to be asked is, what do you consider "advanced"? There are many database type functions in excel as well as extensive vb scripting (for macros & so forth) - is that what you're interested in? If so, I don't think a mere tutorial will cut it. You'll need more in depth information - from a solid MS certified text book... There are however, several "basic" tutorials available on-line, most require payment, a few others are free, but the latter group are very basic and limited. Have you tried searching at Amazon? Also, this site seems to have a lot of resources - thye may have what you're looking for.

You can log in anonymously by choosing the "invisible" option from the log in page. If you also choose the "remember" me option, you have to log out first and then log in again as invisible. On your personal profile, look for the OPTIONS buttons on the left sidebar. Choose "Find members posts" you should have them all.

Currently, The Decemberists - but a few minutes ago the Chilingarian quartet was playing Etchmiadzni Par. I have my tunes set on what I call "Chaos Random" - which chooses tunes in my library from completely different genres and generations and strings them together. I don't do this often, but rightnow it's the perfect mix of surprise & spontaneity... wonder what will be next. Could be the Ramones, could be Bill Evans, or it could be Azat (er.... I mean Harout)
