A lot of prominent Russian politicians from the right openly announce that they must preserve the white race and keep Russia white. Obviously, the civil rights development there is grossly retarded. Imagine the controversy if politicians spoke the same way in the States today. The public would become polarized very soon and the same thing would happen here too. So, I believe the problem will go away as soon as civil rights become more respected in Russia. Decades may go by.

This is very interesting. Noam Chomsky is the most-cited living author and is among top 10 most-cited authors in all history (along with Shakespeare, Plato and Sigmund Freud)... I think it wouldn't hurt to send Edward Manukyan an email and see if he could ask Chomsky to say something about the Armenian genocide. The more such well-known political dissidents speak about it the better for the cause, especially since I know Chomsky has written about it before, but not nearly as much as we would like. Here's the press release. -- For Immediate Release: December 8, 2010 Media Contact: Lyndi Williams, organizer of Musical Tribute to Scientists project. Phone: (806) 290-1772 CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - January 22, 2010. The famous linguist and philosopher Noam Chomsky, widely considered to be the world's leading intellectual, will be honored during a special concert dedicated to him. It will feature music dedicated to Chomsky and songs written on Chomsky's words by the Los Angeles-based composer Edward Manukyan. Prominent linguists David Pesetsky of MIT and Gennaro Chierchia, the head of the linguistics department at Harvard, will take the stage with speeches about Chomsky's contribution to linguistics and world ideas. The program will also include music dedicated to Nobel-laureates James D. Watson, Steven Weinberg and others. The concert will be held at MIT's Kresge Auditorium, on January 22, 2010, at 07:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased from: http://gsc.mit.edu/chomsky The event is sponsored by MIT Graduate Student Council, Cambridge Arts Council and MIT Lecture Series. Edward Manukyan is an Armenian-born composer from Southern California. Hailed by the world-renowned conductor Loris Tjeknavorian as "the most brilliant Armenian composer of his generation," Manukyan has dedicated a considerable number of his works to eminent scientists. Recently, he has been promoting wider appreciation for sciences through his original Musical Tribute to Scientists project, which includes dedications to some of the greatest minds of our time. Manukyan is the author of a number of orchestral and chamber works, many of which have been performed on the international scene. Musicians performing at the Cambridge concert include Sarita Uranovsky (violin), Molly Walker (clarinet), Lyndi Williams (soprano), and Hisako Hiratsuka (piano). This question can be argued both ways. Often it is left to pick whichever you'd like to be true. A lot of of pick Europe... Far too many reputable maps have listed Armenia (and the entire Caucasus) as part of Europe. The last nation to want to reject this tendency, it would seem, should be Armenia.

Also, they automatically transfer their desperation to find jobs to hatred for those who they think have stolen their jobs. Nationalist propaganda is pretty big there and their leaders constantly blame the immigrants. Imagine if there was only fox news on TV... Imagine the public opinion and stereotypes...

I think Russians in general are cultured people. The problem is that there are always thugs and worthless criminals is every society, and when the law enforcement fails to consistently punish such crimes, things go out of hand. Imagine if police was as corrupt and impotent in Los Angeles... Think about all the hate killings that would occur. So, in short, this doesn't seem to be a reflection of some "Russian hatred towards Armenians..." It a reflection of a weak state and an incompetent government.

The Armenian State Jazz Band led by Armen Martirosyan direct successor of the first jazz orchestra in the whole Transcaucasus, founded by talented composer Artemi Ayvazyan by the order of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in 1938. The outstanding composer succeeded in creating a wonderful band, which would later be admired on the whole territory of the USSR. The basis of the band’s repertoire was the national folk music, which singled out the band among others. In 1956 the leadership of the orchestra was entrusted to young and talented pianist and composer Konstantin Orbelian, who became its art director and conductor. A new era opened in the life of the orchestra. Numerous concert tours (the orchestra visited 40 countries), TV appearances, album records made it one of the most popular bands in the country. In 1975 the orchestra was the first among the Soviet jazz collectives to visit the native land of jazz, the USA. In the years of perestroika and economic crisis, the band ceased its existence. However, in 1997, several years after Armenia became an independent country, talented musician, composer and remarkable arranger Armen Martirosyan became the reformed band’s new conductor and art director. Saxophonist Armen Hyusnunts, winner of many jazz festivals became the musical director of the band, while Artur Asatryan became its producer. Being highly professional, the young band members have great interest in modern interpretations and arrangements. Building on the glorious achievements and traditions, they were able to find their unique style based on Armenian national roots. The orchestra frequently performs both in Armenia and abroad: in the USA (200, 2001), Russia (2001, 2006), etc. In 2000 the band took part in the Second International Jazz Festival, Yerevan-2000, during which the band had the chance to perform together with the present-day legend, pianist, composer and arranger Chick Corea. In 2001 the band recorded its first album, “Mountain Dance”, which was awarded as the Best Jazz Fusion Album at the annual Armenian Music Awards ceremony in the United States in November 2001. Commenting on the album, Chick Corea said: "This music is alive and unique, adventurous and beautiful." In 2002 the band participated in the Jazz Appreciation Month, a festival organized by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and hosting professional performers from Armenia and the USA. 2006 saw the band performing in Moscow during the Days of Armenian Culture in Russia. In 2008 during the National Music Awards ceremony, the Armenian State Jazz Band was named Best Jazz Band of the year.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here knows how I can open two browsers at the same time and work on both of them, without having one automatically minimized as soon as I click on either one one of them? Thanks for any help!

I think everyone should read this post as if it was said to them. We all live half-asleep-half-awake and very often ignore valid points in order to protecting our delusions. There's no need to take offence from the challenges presented by Arvestaked, Sip and others. None of them has voiced a disrespectful remark so far, in my opinion. What believers (and skeptics such as myself) should do is to look for flaws in their logic, and if it turns out that they have formed wrong opinions, we should point that out and keep debating until things become more clear. I am sure that the truth can be found only through logical and intelligent debates, regardless how stong our impulse is to be emotional. When I opened this thread, I didn't expect that I would set up a stage for such an interesting debate. I really feel proud to be Armenian... It is true that we are largely an intelligent nation. Such debates in many other societies would have been much more hopeless with people like Rog being the overwhelming majority. I really hope Rog will be able to unlearn the 98% of nonsense that makes up his upbringing, which apparently is nothing but brutal indoctrination.

Is that what it is today too? If that is what Armenian Christianity is then I am more Christian than anyone I have ever met.
