  1. Check out this video and you'll know what I mean ... it's about 1.6MB so sorry to people with slow connections: Short Clip. Note: I LOVE dogs and most animals.

Oh by the way, it is natural to buy tickets when the jackpot is huge since the odds of winning remain the same. However, people don't realize that the chances of having to share the jackpot also goes up since more people participate.

Azat jan, if I won, I would immediately give away about 50% of it to the US government. The rest, I'd keep for myself. Here's what I would buy (in the same order): [*]Pay-off all my parents' debts (i.e. house + cars) and send them on a LONG cruise vacation [*]Buy my brother a new Subaru WRX with all the options [*]For me, a new PC with the largest available CRT monitor [*]A nice LCD projector or maybe a plasma TV (if I find a good deal). [*]Force-feedback steering wheel + 3D glasses for PC [*]BOSE Sound system ... top of the line [*]MP3 Player with 80GIG drive for my car [*]5" lift for my car with 33x12.5 tires/wheels. [*]A new GPS with LOTs of memory [*]Another digital camera [*]One of those new Toshiba slim laptops with all the options [*]A HUGE box of Cambell Chunky Soup cans with all the different flavors (except the veggie chicken one ... that one is CRAP). I'd want extra ones of the "chicken corn chowder". [*]A welder (probably MIG) [*]A table saw The rest, 1/2 I would invest, the other 1/2 I would put in a swiss bank account. Of course this is AFTER taking all you guys at Hyeforum out to dinner/drinking. The ones who are far from LA, we'll have to discuss other arrangements of course.By the way, you are doing the best! Having fun dreaming about it while not being stupid enough to waste your money on actual tickets !!!

Boy if your family has less than 3 goats and 12 chickens, they don't even look at you.
  5. Happy Birthday Harut!!!!
  6. Actually, I thought Harut was describing you above! It took me a while to realize he was talking about a BUNCH of different people in Armenia http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/roflmao.gif
  7. ... and ... my favorite ... dead people aren't deceased, they are just metaphysically challenged

  9. Ok things seem to be running smoothly now. The 133TX2 card seems to have done the trick. I had bad luck since my last 80GIG drive turned out to be bad and that's why everything crashed. I tried the new bioses from ASUS: 1010A and 1011. They both made the system unstable running the memory at 133 MHZ. So I went back to the 1007 which seems to work great. I have done a lot of stress testing and benchmarking and the system seems to be rock solid. If you are going to mess with things, I'd say stick to the 1007 bios and ditch that on-board Ultra100 controller ... it's just a disaster waiting to happen
  10. Yes. Mapsource is Garmin's map software. You can use it to plan trips (which I have never used) and to download additional maps into the GPS (like street maps and topological maps). It can also be used to save tracks and logs from the GPS to the PC. The only thing I really use it for is to download extra maps to my eMap. I got the extra 32MB memory so I can fit a lot of maps. I am not sure how much memory the GPS III has but I am guessing it is not enough to download new maps (I am not sure on this).
  11. Well, to hagarag's defense, I think he was (rightly so) trying to point out that being of a certain race does not indicate what "kind" of person one is. In any race, there are good ones and there are bad ones. Being Armenian does not necessarily mean better or holier than anyone else. So the fact that the girl was "Armenian" to begin with probably had nothing to do with the whole story (the fact that she had very poor manners).
  12. Forget everything I said ... I am in the process of re-installing ... just bought a new Maxtor 80Gig drive with Promise 133TX2 controller (it comes with the drive). I am going to try this one out ... the Ultra100 on the A7V corrupted everything ... but maybe my drive was bad ... I'll know in a few days.
  13. No I haven't optimized anything. So far, things are very very simple. The html is also not optimized in any way ... just loading a ton of images! I suspect that for long texts it may not work too well but for short things ... I am also thinking that for combinations of letters that occur frequently, I could make special images. That could cut down the html size a lot. I would have to do some "optimizing" for sure
  14. Wait wait wait .. I am confused ... the article (the one I read) was about some principal looking at girls' underwear ... where do the Armenians come in?
  15. Well, this "idea" has been bugging me for a couple of years now. I want to get your opinions on if it is worth pursuing. I have been thinking about finding a way of displaying arbitrary text using arbitrary fonts on arbitrary browsers without the need to install ANYTHING special (i.e. no special language settings, fonts, etc). I can see a lot of value if someone figures out a good way to do it. The goal is to make it easy to make text readable in different languages. Note that this is NOT a translator. Just a tool to display text in different fonts in browsers. The characters are mapped one by one. So for example when we type things in Armenian using english characters, this tool would simply convert it to an html page that would use Armenian characters So here's my first crack at it. It's just meant to be sort of a "proof of concept" or a prototype to see if there is any reason to pursue it further. Please let me know what you think ... it is FAR from perfect and the texts aren't supposed to mean anything. Note that test2 and test3 get pretty big in size so modem users may have trouble ... that's the kind of feedback I am looking for. So here are a few sample TEXT files in English: Test 1 (small) Test 2 (medium) Test 3 (large) Here are the "translated" (characters mapped to armenian) versions in Armenian: Test 1 (Armenian) (small) Test 2 (Armenian) (medium) Test 3 (Armenian) (large) (~400K... modem users, don't even think about it!) Oh, by the way, if I ever get this thing in a good usable shape, I plan to release it into the public domain (i.e. I am NOT looking to make money !!!) Also, feel free to laugh and me and make fun if you think it's a dumb idea or if there are better ways to do it (if there are, let me know!!!). Don't worry, I make so many dumb statements during the day, there is no way you can hurt my feelings [ May 01, 2002, 06:27 PM: Message edited by: Sip ]
  16. Alright since no one wanted to admit, I'll ask ... what the heck is a sun dial? If it is what I think it is, then it went out of style many many years ago. Just kidding ... but I would be interested to know how you make it with 5 things (I would have to guess, I would say you probably need: 1. Computer, 2. Internet connection 3. Search Engine 4. Ability to send "how to make sun dial with 5 things" query to search engine 5. Following instruction provided by document returned by search engine)
  17. I think Azat meant the words: "EX GIRLFRIENDS" ... those are definitely words that should NEVER be mentioned . The only other hint I have is the use of CAPSLOCK. Please if you see that the CAPS LOCK light on your keyboad is ON, press the key to have the light go off. You will make a LOT of people happy that way! But definitely welcome to the forum A friend of mine gave me a good money saving tip about "first dates". He says that right before the date, go to a cheap place and eat as much as you can. Then after you pickup the "lady", take her to a very expensive and nice place. Since you are already full, only order a salad and tell her you are watching your weight and are trying to eat healthy and stuff. He says in majority of cases, the girl will not order more food which could mean a lot of extra money in your pockets
  18. I dont see too many English majors going on to work in the Biotech fields ... but of course anything is possible ... we had this guy (3/4 Armenian from Fresno, CA) who did the entire UCLA undergrad computer science in 2 years with 4.0 GPA and then MS in one year :eeke: ... then he switched and is going to law school now !!!! I thought that was pretty cool ...
  19. If I had to guess, I would probably guess Biology Major
  20. Hahahaha that's a good one ... and it WILL continue to change
  21. The laptop ones work pretty well since you have a BIG screen and the software can be fairly sophisticated. The PDA versions are not as good. THe ones I have seen are very slow ... even on the 206 MHZ Ipaqs ... I would still get a handheld GPS as opposed to doing it on a PDA. You can connect most handheld gpses (like the eMAP) to laptops and use PC software Mosjan ... that GPS III Plus is very cool! I think you can download the waypoints and stuff to PC just like the emap using Garmins MapSource software ... do you have a PC cable for it? If you need MapSource, let me know
  22. Well, since this topic is alive again after a year ... You can be friends with Jesus, go on a date with Jesus, and even take a shower with Jesus ... You don't believe me? Just check this out. That guy is freaking hillarious. I can't believe how seriously people take him ... the best part is reading his "mail bag" section with some samples of the kinds of emails he gets!!!!
  23. quote:#(*^&($ YOU TUREKIA.... 1315) Ani Barseghian annie_nazi@yahoo.com Location: United States Wednesday, 24. April 2002 13:43 Oh great. An Armenian who thinks the Germans are the ultimate race ... NOW I've seen it all!!!!
  24. Domino, you are correct that with 12V, it is VERY hard to get a clean system. However, it can be done and that is the best part of it ... the challenge! You have so many things to worry about that you would not normally think about in a "home" type system. And of course, the main concern is usually cost ... I don't think I am ready to sink thousands and thousands of dollars into a car stereo! (maybe one day when I am rich). The new solid state components these days can do wonders. Amps have gotten very efficient and you can overcome a lot of noise issues with digital processing. I still can't afford those high cost digital sound processors but their cost is coming down. Currently, after rewiring things, I have this really annoying noise (alternator whine) in my setup ... I am trying to get rid of it. I have narrowed it down and I think it is being picked up on the power line of the main stereo deck (there is a deck and 3 amps). The amps are ok since I have the big 1F cap very close to them. So right now, everything sounds horrible (but I'll fix it within the next week). The other problem I have is that my MP3 player picks up noise from somewhere ... I'll have to figure that out next. All these noises make things VERY complicated when working with systems in cars but that's part of the fun and why I like it!!! Plus, in LA, you have to DRIVE A LOT so it's nice to have toys in the car.
  25. Cool! Very nice. More problems will follow for sure
