Ok for #1, it has happened and it has never really been a problem. Actually it's kind of nice to have someone hit on you as it rarely happens for regular guys I will admit that I have actually gotten free stuff from gay cashiers or waiters like at fast food places (like free fries or coke) or restaurants and it really didn't bother me. I usually make it very clear right away that I am not gay so not to mislead anyone but after that, if they still feel like flirting, no complaints from me. Of course I have never been in a situation where things have gotten rude or obscene. I see it happen to girls all the time where some guys just get really annoying and just downright rude. That would bother me but typically I can be intimidating enough (5'11'' 270lb is not something people take 'lightly' ) that it has not been a problem. ... hmmm or maybe I'm not attractive enough even to the gays? 2. Going out with a girl? You do realize I'm into computers and stuff right? J/k ... #2 would REALLY suck if the "girl" had intentially been misleading about it. If it was a topic that just really never came up, then I wouldn't be as offended but if the persion intentionally tried very hard to avoid the topic or hide the fact, then I'd probably not be very happy about it. Now if you are asking me if I am open to possibly being with someone that had sex change at some point in the past ... not sure. I think it passes my boobs-to-testicles ratio test but of course for a relationship to form, a lot more comes into play. So I don't know.

Actually I think homosexuality is very different than sex change. Like you would never hear a Gay refer to himself as female. Actually the whole point gays are trying to make is that they are Gay (as in physically male but attracted to other males) and in fact very different than females. But perhaps you are right in that since Gay-ness is treated so negatively in society, that sometimes sex change is an easier solution to deal with being Gay. So maybe sex change is the consequence given that society is so negative on Gays.

"Normal" has had a VERY wildly varying meaning throughout history. There have been periods and cultures where homosexuality has been "normal" and acceptable. Just because the current status quo is to label homosexuality as "wrong", it doesn't mean that it will always be this way.

By the way, one thing I REALLY hate about any such discussion is the wording in how a lot of people describe things as "advocating homosexuality". I have NEVER met a Gay that has advocated homosexuality. Pretty much all of them advocate "acceptance" of homosexuality. Once it is ACCEPTED, then it really becomes a choice.

This is ENTIRELY a non issue and I think it's a good thing for the schools not not have to worry about whether they should label a kid boy or girl. This is something that should come from the PARENTS. If a parent says their kid is a girl, then god damnit that kid is a girl But I do think you should be forced to go to the bathroom that anatomically matches your body. I don't think the girls would enjoy having to use the seats that the boys have "baptised" in their own special way.

Actually that's good advice and it's generally just a really bad idea to make lots of sites with the same or similar content. Before you know it, search engines will start flagging your sites as spam and your traffic will go down to nothing in no time. On the other hand, making several different domain names that point or forward to the same site is not a problem in my opinion.

I didn't understand what this means ... did you have files on the new pc that you need back? Did the installation format the hard drive? If you just want to install vista premium, I was reading somewhere about this trick that you can make vista upgrade itself ... basically you probably just want to wipe the entire pc clean, then follow the instructions (which I can find for you) of installing vista upgrade over itself. But if you need to recover files off of this pc, then don't do anything until we can figure out if there is anything recoverable.

I've got Ubuntu Gutsy running on it pretty stable (after about a month of messing with it on a daily basis). Performance is good and I haven't had to reboot it for over a month now. I use it daily. I didn't care about the volume control on the case but it's working fine. I have the LCD working no problem. The IR sensor is being detected but I haven't had the time to try to setup a remote control with it yet. Overall, I think it's a tough call between XP and Linux. XP definitely offers advantages but I think for the long run, getting into the guts of linux and getting it set up will pay off. It is NOT the right choice for the n00bs though if they want to start using the box right away. I don't plan to use Blue-ray anytime soon but I watch 720p resolution videos on it with AC3 and DTS auio streams without a hitch on a regular basis. My TV is 42" so 720p is more than enough (actually I prefer it over 1080p). For 1080p though, I don't think my hardware is up to par for it, especially with all the other stuff I have running on this box ... but I am very happy since it runs very cool, stable, and produces almost no sound.

I know this was directed at Arvestaked but I too have often thought about this. My current expanation is that there are MANY things we do not understand the most important of which are our finite-ness (i.e. when we start and when we end in death). A convenient short-cut for ANY lazy mind, when faced with an unknown, is to try to explain that a higher power has set things in place and in motion. The benefits of this are three fold: 1. It provides an explanation for things that would otherwise go unexplained. 2. It creates the illusion that things are somehow controllable and that our lives are not subject to utter chaos. 3. Makes the idea of death inherently less scary by attaching some sort of context or meaning to life. Of course this higher power has been rather arbitrary things so far like fire, earth, thunder, wind, God(s), cows, aliens, etc etc. Now what's the down-side? The down-side is that such lazy-mental shortcuts can manifest themselves in the utter rediculousnesses that we have seen throughout history ... burning of "witches" ... killing of "non believers" ... cutting-off of baby peniseses and vagina parts ... and of course training humans to start to categorically ignore and dismiss real knowledge in place of that which supports previous such superstitions and dogma. Fortunately however, it seems that as our human race is getting smarter and smarter, the need for believing in the supernatural is slowly starting to deminish. There is still a long way ahead but at least now, a lot of people are starting to realize they can have their "faith" (and the safety it provides) while at the same time looking for answers about themselves and their enviornments, and the truth without being limited by what the ancients (who believed the Earth was flat and had no clue about dinosaurs, planetary motion, genetics, microbes, diseases, etc etc) have been telling them.

Oh this reminded me of a funny story! I was standing in line at the post office about a year ago back in Wisconsin ... I was back from a long trip so I wanted to pick up my hold mail. This one lady that I guess was in her 40's for some reason started to get REALLY mad that the line was so long and she had to wait (we were all waiting for about 20 minutes or so -- it wasn't that bad). She started mumbling and rolling eyes and started to get slowly louder and louder and pretty much everyone was starting to get fed up with her. I was also starting to get a bit tired of her so I turned around and said (really loud), "Lady, Jesus still loves you." The whole place went quiet for a few seconds ... everyone pretty much didn't know what the hell that meant and if I was serious or not but I just calmly turned around and didn't say anything ... a few seconds later the lady said something like "well I have to go" and just left Probably one of the hardest thing I have had to do in life was to stop myself from laughing, at myself, for the next 5 minutes until it was my turn to go to the counter ...

By the way, to summarize what I am saying, you can't simply answer every question with "you must believe in the Perfection of the Lord Jesus Christ through Whom salvation blah blah blah." That is NOT a valid answer to every question. So here is Ashot's question again: Let us suppose the Bible is the Ultimate Truth. You have person A and person B, let's even pretend they are identical twins who live almost IDENTICALL lives with one exception: Person A is a devout Christian while person B never prays and doesn't believe in God. Otherwise, they do exactly the same things .. they work hard .... they donate significant portions of their time, money, and energy to charity ... they never harm a single other person or animal their entire lives. Does the Bible say person A will go to Heaven and person B will go to Hell?

I was thinking the same thing. It is amazing how much he typed for a simple question yet said nothing. Avoiding answering good questions like what you asked, Ashot, is a really bad sign about what is really going on in my opinion. We recently had an Armenian guy show up here who was a devout muslim. It is absolutely amazing how almost exactly the same vague, non-coherent, extremely flowery style was what he resorted to when asked very specific and direct questions. Rog, you have already avoided an entire line of questions regarding creation in another thread. Now you are trying to dodge judgement questions. How is one to take you seriously when you are not ready to answer questions directly? Isn't that a sign that you are either not sure, or are affraid to defend the stance that you really want to believe?

How is a post on a public internet forum in direct response to the main post of the thread "gossip"? And what's my part of the job? To add another candle? Or should I write a script to automatically add a million? I can trivially generate as many permutations of Armenian names from here as is needed to fill up a server if that will fulfill my "job".

For the record, I have no problem with just deleting every "non-rememberance" comment if the point of the page is simply to remember. My problem was with artificially changing messages.
