and "When the Armenian-Americans worked in unison, gathering their forces, they came very close to passing a Genocide Resolution in the US House of Representatives. Instead the usual way of conducting business is to alienate other Armenians. The children of Jewish/Gentile marriages are welcomed into their community. Paul Newman, Goldie Hawn even Barry Goldwater, etc. are welcomed into the community. With the Armenians, you have to prove yourself first. I am 7/8 Armenian and 1/8 Assyrian. Why do I have to prove myself? Furthermore, who cares about Cher's multiple sexual exploits. She is a famous woman of Armenian extraction. Who cares if Paradjanov slept with men as well as women? He was a very talented Armenian. The children of Saroyan and Arlene Francis are embraced by the Jewish community but shunned by the Armenians. We are a nation of imbeciles.
-
Boghos, The reason that I exercise my ills here is because I have realized that I can not get away from the fact that I am an Armenian. Why to be born to a nation of imbeciles? Why do so many of us run (not walk) away from their heritage? What is it about the de-righeur mentality imposed by our so-called leaders that drives so many out? There are so many "former" Armenians out there, many of whom have made their mark upon the world in various fields of endeavor.
-
Boghos, I was not alluding to your like or dislike of obese women, but to a philosophy of "If the common people don't have any bread to eat, let them eat cake."
-
Hovsep, Even if I was ever in the Oval office with Clinton alone, we would be talking only politics. Clinton's interest in the area you allude to is with women between the ages of 20 and 40. I do not fit either consideration. What I like about Clinton is his job performnce. He created a sustained vibrant economy which lifted all the economic ships in the US. He appreciated and rewarded talented people of whatever background. Bush has devastated the economy and rewards only those who adhere to his narrow religious and conservative political agenda. However, other than McCain's distorted military views concerning Armenia, I really like the views of McCain. Bush has turned out to be a greater enemy of Armenia than McCain would have been. That is the difference between honest men like Clinton and McCain and who we got.

Boghos, Have you ever wondered what happened to all of the pure-breed French overlords in Haiti? Only the mixed-blood and blacks remain. I guess that you are a Marie Antionette kind of guy.
-
Fox News uses the tactics you claim that I am using. Any guest who states anything not in line with Fox owner Murdoch's conservative philosophy is immediately shouted down. They claim to be "fair and balanced." A few weeks ago Armenia was set to be grouped with terror states by the US Department of Justice. The Bush adminstration was ready to sell Armenians "down the river" to gain favor with the Turkish military regeime. I am sure that you are sitting very comfortably in your upscale home or office. I know your kind.

Turks commemorate so-called massacre of Turks in a mosque in Ardahan during World War I and a group in Nakhichevan is started to "liberate" Karabagh. Are these folks getting ready for war against Armenia using their soon-to-be obtained new armaments from George Bush and Co? We had it much better under Clinton.

Hovsep, What a falsely rosy picture you paint. Must I remind you that 9/10 of our nation is in enemy hands, and that this 9/10 has been denuded of Armenians? If you count the regions of Azerbaijan that have been lost to Armenians (areas around Julfa) it is more than 9/10 of our nation that has been lost. Next look to the multitudes of Poles, Bulgarians, Greeks, French, etc. who are descendants of Armenians and yet do not know it and you will see how much more has been lost. Gregory Peck vehemently falsely denies that his grandfather was an Armenian Catholic fom England. Why is this so? Dikran Kouyoumjian (Michael Arlen, Sr.) once stated that "Who would admit to being Armenian, if it were not so?" When my cousin visited the vilayet of present-day Turkey that her great-grandparents virtually owned and she was stupid enough to inform the Turkish guide as to which grand house had belonged to her grandparents, he spit on her. We need more thinking like Baliozians' and less thinking like the majority of Armenians who have made a mess of our once grand nation.

Harut, You are suffering from an "IMMERSION" problem. Not "EMERZIAN but "IMMERSION." It is like a small child in a bathtub whose mother has dunked the child under the level of the water. The child can not see anything but the water itself. After the bathtub has been drained, a dirty line appears around the sides of the bathub. I have been around thousands of Armenians all my life, of all persuasions. Are you aware of what "Hai Horoms" are. Do you know of the Tondaketsi? Did you know that the Bagratunis were Jews, the Mamikonians Chinese and other kings were Assyrians, etc. Did you know that the Cathar movement in France, brutally put down by the Pope was initiated by Armenian settlers? THERE ARE NONE SO BLIND AS THOSE WHO DO NOT SEE.

Qristine, No I did not change my religion to Hindu, the young woman ASSUMED that since I was vegetarian that I was Hindu. The only member in my family that was ever Loosavorchagan was my paternal grandmother. She changed to Armenian Catholic when she married my grandfather in 1902, when she was just 15 years of age. My mother's family were Catholic. My parents bolted the Catholic Church when I was 7, and raised us as Protestants. I am interested in Eastern religions but NEVER changed my religion. Baliozian is also a Catholic Armenian.

Hovsep, I am one of the few American-born Armenians of my generation who speak Armenian. I am immersed in Armenian history and know things that most Armenians would prefer not to know about our history. But I do not THINK like an Armenian. I was formed outside of the "camp." I am not confused about my Armenian identity, but VERY aware of it. I perceive it from a cultural and historical academic perspective that only a small percentage of Armenians posess. The rest of you have collective "myopia."
-
Qristine, If you have been raised within the Armenian community, you will be blind to the elements of the Armenian psyche that are detrimental. First off we are very intolerant of those who are innovators. There is a fundamentalist element to Armenian groupthink. When I visted Armenia a young Yerevantzi woman befiended me on the tour bus. I do not think she was aware of my true age. I think she found me attractive. When the conversation turned to food and I told her that I was a Vegan (a very strict vegetarian) she got up from the seat next to mine, stated that she does not approve of Armenians who give up their religion to become Hindus and did not speak to me during the remainder of the tour. As for American Armenians, they are so hung up on pecuniary wealth. There is little respect for scholarship for the sake of scholarship, only how large a house and other material things it will bring you. In my youth, whenever I proposed doing something novel during an Armenian committee meeting, I was shotdown. I will never forget the reaction I got whne I proposed to get Cher, Adrienne Barbeau and other Armenian movie stars to host an Armenian telethon. A group of Armenians ganged up on me, stating that Cher was a "fallen woman" and that Barbeau was only 1/2 Armenian. I could go on and on but Baliozian is much more eloquent and much more thorough in delineating the dysfunctions of the Armenian community.

1000% politics, 5% policy. Has anyone wondered why Congressmen Bob Barr and Dick Armey are so alarmed with "privacy issues?" Barr has even joined the ACLU. And what about the California Republican Congressman who threatened that he wold commit suicide if his secret life was revealed to the press? There is more truth to Grisham's novel than most American know. The Bush crew has Armenians on their hit list. Maybe we should bring them down a notch or two.
-
....and a Merry Christmas to you too!
-
Gamavor, Now that we have discussed our various persuasions, can we all come together and work for the Armenian Cause?
-
Gamavor, I agree about the red wine party, jazz-rock, bikini parties. I don't believe that women should be womanized but treated with love and respect. Smoking is a dirty habit that will eventually kill you. Bridge is a game that a family member of mine revels in, but it bores me to death. The last time I went skiing I almost found the fate of Cher's late husband. Shish kebab and other meats are very unhealthy to eat. I prefer the Lexus my ex-wife drives to the German varieties.I have graduated from long blond legs to the long-legged Asian beauties. It is not only our political beliefs that diverge, irrespective of party, but also our approaches to life.
-
The US Republican Party has been usurped by a group of false Christians. The ALMIGHTY DOLLAR is their ONLY GOD and oil is their currency. Their motto is "Burn Armenians so that Americans can burn more Azeri oil." The latest fiasco shows very clearly that Weems' screwy theories are alive and well in the present Bush Administration. You gonna support Bush again in 2004, Gamavor?
-
Koko, So you would prefer that Armenian remains a puppet state of Iran and Russia?
-
Must I remind you Stormy that 1/3 of the residents of the ROA have left the country, about 1/2 of those remaining can't wait to get out, while the Nor Harousts are building castles and having Armenian millionaires from the West build monuments to themselves. As for your statement that we have outlasted many other peoples, I say that that was before we were Turkified and Sovietized. Even then our numbers were greatly diminished over time. If you follow the genetic thread you will find that many former Armenians are now part of the genepool of the nationals of Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, France, Greece, etc. They have lost all sense of being Armenian.
-
A San Francisco Chronicle article of December 21 still lists that Armenian, Pakistani and Saudi Arabian nationals must register between January 13 and 21. What is the truth? These Bush adminstration LIARS are at it again. No Armenian should ever vote for these BASTARDS again.
-
Koko and Arpa, typical dans-klooch Armenians, who have brought us to the miserable state we collectively find ourselves in today.
-
Bottom line, Harut, is what transpired in the last week. I am a man who believes in the rule of law. I will do everything legally available (and truthful) to tear down the bastards who insulted us the way they did, grouping Armenia with with rogue states, after the ROA opened it's airspace to the US and offered to allow the West to set up bases there. You are a slave to your beliefs, and they will destroy our people.
-
In some circles if you are an Armenian Republican all will be forgiven. You can roam the streets at night looking for a cheap trick while your wife sits at home and the Republican Armenians will forgive you. You can be involved in illegal financial activities and the Armenian Republicans will forgive you. But if you are a decent Democrat, but have an odar mother some conservative Armenians will do everything to destroy you, even if it means losing the seat to an odar. As for Republicans in general, if you are the child of a Republican President or VP, the mother of a First Lady, or a Republican spots celebrity, even current homosexual activity will be forgiven. Anyone else, especially liberals, will be removed from their jobs for even one transgression, made years in the past, and not given the opportunity to make a living. That is how Republicans win elections.
-
24. Any Armenian who has ever had a homosexual experience, even only once over 20 years ago, should be immediately taken to a public place and executed on the spot.
-
Someone approached me at work yesterday and asked me if I was a terrorist. I was born in America and am as American as apple pie. I don't even look very Armenian at all. The Bush Administration did this at the bequest of Turkey. At least you, Hovsep, understand that this was done to neutralize the effects of the Ararat movie.
