    La Pucelle

Before France takes on Italy, I, who love France (not ashamed of it), have drawn this. Jeanne before the battle of Orleans. I hope you like it!
  2. Arpa, didnt cross my mind you are actually in Armenia now.. enjoy your trip and dont forget to eat a lot of fruit its delicious!
  3. Arpa jan, one could say its a matter of taste. People who didnt like that statue 10 years ago, still dont like it. OK, so its there, people get used to it with time. Its still no excuse for putting up ugly pieces which have no aestitic value and polute the sight. The statue of Arno is not that bad. Its a masterpiece compared to the statue on the photos. At least its expressive and not a 3dimensional migit with frozen body and a huge head. I grew up in the building on Kievian 24, where all appartments were of painters and sculptors. I remember it well, the studios, the stone work and the talent. I guess when the old masters are gone and there is noone to teach the new generation... so we end up with shitty works on a public display. Better no art at all than this... auch.
  4. I meant no offence... but come on, this is one disproportional statue, there is nothing heroic about it, whoever the autor is, he should be cutting stones for buildings, not making statues (IMHO).
  5. I wonder what happened to the great Armenian sculptors... the old generation... they all have gone... now we errecting ugly pieces like this, whats wrong with the people... amot. Seems like the great days when quality was the priority have long gone. Its just sad.
  6. oh thank u so much for this link... feels like going home for a second
  7. I know for a fact, there is only ONE armenian playing in the world cup and he is in the Iranian team. Too bad they were beaten by Mexico.
  8. Wow. I spent quite sometime reading this thread (sick home with flu, auch).... it made me think, I dont know, maybe its a good thing I am so disconnected from the Armenian community, here in Tel Aviv, I feel like the last Armenian on the face of the earth when actually Jerusalem is 30 minutes drive from here. I say its a good thing because I dont have to deal with all the paranoia and xhenophobia and shovinism and whatever "ism" is left out there. That makes me a better Armenian for our cause. I lived in Amsterdam for 2 years, going to the church at least few times a month. One day I was driving by on my bike, saw a refugee family from Armenia.. standing in front of the church door, crying. They had nowhere to go and were about to be deported. They came for help, maybe some food, what does it matter. A family, old grandma, 2 little children, speaking not a word of Dutch, desperate for help. The only place they thought of going was the Armenian church. But the door was locked up for them. Noone opened it until I intervened. I was furious. I think the community leader (i wont mention his name) did agree to help them only because he knew if he wont, I will make sure others will find out about this disgrace. So I cant say what would have happened if this scenario would occure in Moskow or in Los Angeles, or in Rome.. maybe you tell me?
  9. Seems something bad is looming on the horizon for Artsach and Armenia. Ukraine and Israel selling weapons to Azeris, this is very troubling news. Very troubling. This might give them the confidence to start another war. What about us? Who sells weapons to us? How are we going to counter the large, well equiped Azeri army if the war breaks out?
  10. Israel-Azerbaijan strategic alliance in cards? National infrastructure minister hints in speech Israel interested in strategic cooperation with Muslim country that borders with Iran Tani Goldstein Are Israel and the United States planning a strategic alliance with Azerbaijan, in a bid to counter the Iranian nuclear threat? Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, the minister of national infrastructure, has hinted to the possibility in a recent speech at the Israel Institute of Petroleum and Energy. "Azerbaijan is a Muslim country with a large Shiite population that borders with Iran. We are interested in this small state's location," Ben-Eliezer said. Azerbaijan has recently become the center for economic cooperation with Israel. Israeli arms companies equip the Azerbaijani army and the National Infrastructure Ministry is trying to form collaboration with Azerbaijan on purchasing oil and natural gas. Ben-Eliezer visited Azerbaijan's capital Baku last week, for a trip that officially focused on contracts for purchasing oil, and perhaps even natural gas, from Russia via Azerbaijan, through Turkey to Israel. However, government officials told Ynet that the visit may have also included an attempt by the Israeli government and its defense establishment to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan. The officials stated that Azerbaijan is a poor country in desperate need of foreign investments, and that it is currently in the midst of a strategic conflict with its neighbor Armenia. The Muslim country is also trying to break free from Russia's bear hug. Diplomatic sources said that Israel and the US are also interested Azerbaijan due to its proximity to Iran. According to government officials, as Turkey refuses to continue allowing the US to use its air bases for attacks in Iraq (and will apparently refuse to cooperate with an Iran strike as well), Azerbaijan's location plays a key role for the Americans and Israel. Referring to the Baku visit, Ben Eliezer said: "We achieved important progress on economic issues and other issues as well. I met with the Azerbaijan's president for a meeting that was important for Israel's interests." http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3261778,00.html
  11. Nice work!!!! I like it a lot. We should have more of these.....
  12. Its not full of shit. I know the autor. He is a honest guy and teaches in Open University in Tel Aviv. He also published my poster in the Hebrew edition of his book.
  13. Must warn you, take a deep breath before you open this http://www.armenianplanet.com/viewforum.ph...f0abd0185ad294d Now I dont know about Armenian girls today (I use to remember them quite differently back to those days I grew up in Yerevan).. but these girls on armenianplanet (and armenianclub) are far from my ideal. Where is that slutty look coming from I wonder...

  16. Actually no, its not the Syrian desert. If I am not mistaken its the death valley in California. As of being Armenian in Tel Aviv, no, I havent got too many stories to tell, but thats just me
  17. Yes, you can use the posters from the website to post them wherever you like as long as you post withit proper copyright and a link to the project's website. As of regarding the prints, we are trying to find money to publish some, until then, only 3 are available and you can see them on http://www.armeniangenocideposters.org/html/buy.html I hope I was useful. ps. Many thanks for the feedback, I am very happy you find the poster powerful. Its the thing with political posters, either they are brilliant or nothing special at all. Its always a challenge for a designer.
  18. I designed a new work for the genocide posters site, I am attaching a low res version / the full sized work is at http://www.armeniangenocideposters.org/syriandesert/ The website is also updated. Would love some feedback. Cheers. Ruben

    Pedros Malayan

Specially for you :-) Plus some photographs of the painter.
  20. There is another film with Simon Abkarian. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426279/ The actress and the director is actually Israeli... She is known here, I also read some reviews of this film in Israel but it hasnt come on the big screen so I havent seen it yet.
  21. Well, those 2 are Canadians.. and there is always sort of competition butween them. I dont know about "moderate" or "holliwood fluff", but History of Violence is certainly (at least to me) is a brilliant film and it is not made in Holliwood, even though it has a Holliwood cast. Egoyan is too blurred to me most of the time and i am still coping with the failure of Ararat to meet my expectations..
  22. Just saw "A history of violence". I give it 9 out of 10. Its a great film, u must seee it. David Cronnenberg is by far a better director than Atom Egoyan (my personal opinion)... the cast is great, acting superb, music - perfectly written and performed. I read some reviews, some complain about minor mistakes, really, why dont they see a bigger picture. I really recommend it - and do share what you think of it.
