  1. I used a Canon 20D, a fisheye lens and a pano head. hardest part of creating these types of panoramas is the computer work, but the results make it worthwile. I certainly enjoy creating these images. Unfortunately I was not able to finish this project when I was there and I am hoping that I can go back there within the next two years and stay there for one year to capture the seasons and all the areas of interest. The biggest obstacle for this project is the cost, which I hope I can resolve.
  2. Thanks for the info. Very educational.
  3. Hello Edward, This is albert, some nice photos. could you tell me where the forth photo on the top row is from? it seems to be a very beautiful place. i can only guess it's somewhere in lori going up toward alaverdi, is it?
  4. New panoramas from Armenia. Dear members, since the last time I mentioned about the panorama images here, I have added a few more 360 degree panoramas. Check them out, I hope you would like them. This is as close as I personally feel being in Armenia without being there. As much as I and I am sure many others like me would love to be there often can’t, because the costs are prohibitive. Here are the links and as always, I do appreciate your comments, good or bad. I hope it will bring back good memories for all of you who’ve been there and I also hope these panos would encourage all those who have not yet been to Armenia to go there. No matter how much you look at any photos, it will never be like being there. 6. This is yet another tragedy in a country that has no leadership. All the top so called elite (what a laugh) are too busy milking the people from everything they have. Tsarukyan and the likes of him are at least creating something, factories or what have you, and maybe he would have helped him if he knew. I am not defending Gagik by any means, without a doubt he’s got his share of bad deeds as I’m sure many know, what I get really angry at is the complete and total corruption and lack of leadership, starting from the top which causes people like this poor soul or the Yezidis to attempt such desperate acts in hope that someone would listen to them. For someone like Kocharyan, this is a non-issue that will be forgotten soon and I bet anything that he won’t do anything for the family of this poor guy, nor would any other leader. They are very quick in giving promises and not fulfilling them, why should this be any different. Armenia is like a cancer patient whose disease has spread and is very difficult to control, let’s hope it will be cured one day.
  7. Any real effective government would have never granted such monopoly but then we are talking about Armenia.
  8. It is really upsetting to see that some money hungry companies (Armentel) or inefficient people (Nazaryan) could destroy livelihood of hundreds in a nation that finding a job is such difficult task to begin with. How could they run such monopoly and try to close the other operators? Are they going to give them jobs? It just shows the state the country is in. Express your opinion and digust to support the other operators. armenianow
  9. neko regarding cars in Armenia. I was there november of 2005 and the traffic is a nightmare in yerevan and yes side by side with old recks are new cars, lots of them and mostly European. As for corruption, well it's part of life over there as the U.N. research has shown Armenia is one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. Having said that, we cannot stop our helping hand in money or material donations, even if 90% of it goes to the wrong hands. Armenia is like a partially assembled jigsaw puzzle, it will take some time before it is completely assembeled. As for sending clothing, I think I will just ship the clothing to my relatives and have them decide what to do, because if I ask them to give them to the needy, there is no guarranty that they will any way.
  10. Thank you Edward for the link. I didn't know about Friends for Warm Heart but now that I know I will make a donation. As for clothing, the clothing I want to send is in like new condition and they are not cheap stuff. I know I can ship them myself, that's what I do all the time when I ship to relatives but this time I want to know if I can help the needy in Armenia and specially Karabakh and at the same time avoid shipping. Why did I say specially Karabakh? Because they promised so many people who resettled there with help but never kept their promises. So again if there is an organization anyone knows it would be great otherwise I will just send the clothing to my relatives and let them decide what to do.
  11. Hello everyone, I want to send some clothing for the poor in Armenia or karabakh and I don't know if there are any places who take used clothing in good condition for that purpose in Los Angeles area. I did try ARS but they take only brand new clothing. I tried (brountsk) but they have not returned my call so I want to know if anyone knows of any other organization for that purose. Thanks
  12. Yes, Silva the young Armenian girl won the award for best young (under 18) singer in the world. Check it out here SILVA Armenians have so much musical talent and they prove it all the time all over the world. Bravo Silva
  13. The latest figure on Armenian Dram as of today (Nov 20, 2006) is: 373.84. A drop of over five Drams in 20 days. Now, for those who do not think it is that critical for the well being of the country to control the currency fluctuation, many companies are starting to feel the pinch. IT companise are one, here's the link: Armenian IT companies Forgive me for still being concerned about this in this forum. But is there anyone in THIS FORUM who is in the field of finance and economy and who can explain in logical sense if this fluctuation is normal or not? Especially when I notice other currencies don't act in the same manner. I personally don't think it is.
  14. Ever since I visited Armenia for the first time, which was six years ago, I fell in love with that country. I’ve been there three times and love to go more if I could. Now, when I tell my relatives here in the U.S. that I would love to live there, they ask why? And then they start talking about all the shortcomings and so on. Same thing happens when I tell my relatives in Armenia that I would love to live there. Why? They ask. “There is nothing here, no job, nothing to do, it's boring” and so on. They think we are having so much fun here and they are missing out on something, and the funny part is that when I tell them it isn’t so, they assume that I don’t want them to come here and enjoy life! Unfortunately I can’t go to Armenia to live, at least not yet because I still have underage children and another reason that I rather not get into, but I always think about it. I know a lot about the conditions there because I read a lot and listen to news, but it is a beautiful country and does have good people, what it lacks is a viable authority who cares about the country in the real sense of the word. So my question is as follow: 1- Would you like to live there? 2- If so why don’t you? and if you don't want to live there, why not? For example one could say because of lawlessness. 3- Do you think you might live there sometimes in the future? 4- Do you know anyone who went there to live and loves it? 5- Do you know anyone who went there to live but ran away from it because of whatever reason? Share your thought.
