quote:Originally posted by khodja: The Mamikonian genes would have primarily affected a small group of Armenians, primarily among the nobility. Yes, correct, very small group of Armenians. quote 10 people from 1600 years ago VS 1 million people from 1600 years ago doesn't make much of a difference, in my opinion.

quote:Originally posted by khodja: Juggernaut, What I related about the Bagtaunis comes directly from the writings of Movses Khorenatsi, a renown historian of that era. As for the Jews of Anatolia, they saw themselves as of Jewish nationality (Hebrews) but Christian in their religious beliefs (followers of the teachings of Christ. Do you really not understand how this is possible? Tigran was a Hellenistic Jew. I qwill have to research further to ascertain whether he was a practicing Jew. Since he brought so many Jews into his capital to live, it could be possible that he was still practicing Judaism. how would have Khorenatsi written about Bagratuni's (or WHY would he?) if Bagratuni's reached to higher levels after Khorenatsi's times???

quote:Originally posted by khodja: [QB]I must disagree. Genetic studies have shown that almost all the Jews of today are somewhat descended from the ancestral peoples of the Middle East. This includes those also descended from the Khazars, etc. [QB] Armenians are Hebrews. Jews are not Hebrews.

quote:Originally posted by khodja: Martin, I ask you, now that there is an independent Armenia after hundreds of years, with the exception of the 2 years of the first Armenian Republic of 1918-20, why are so many Armenians leaving the homeland and settling in the land of the former conquerer, the Russians. Armenians did very well financially under the Ottomans, especially after the Tanzimat Reforms. My family reached the pinnacle of economic and social spheres. If sovereignity is so important to Armenians, why are they leaving Armenia in droves? Could it be that there is something in the Armenian psyche which dos not allow for a successful sovereignity? Yes, although born Armenian, I have realized after years of study that I have more French, Hebrew and Assyrian heritage than Armenian. It was leaders of these backgrounds who led Armenia during it's most glorious periods, not those of Armenian heritage. because, Armenians did well under Russians too.(before Soviet Union)

quote:Originally posted by Paul bunyan: No! the regions Karavajar, Kashatagh, Kovsakan, and Kashunink are part of historic Artsakh and will never be given to the afreeti, aka azeri. the Armenians resident there will never allow these liberated lands to become part of azeribaijan so that Karabagh can surrounded by the enemy state on all sides again! they WERE part of HISTORIC Artsakh, but not as of now. there are almost no people living in those areas now. those lands were occupied by Armenians only for safty reasons, and they will be given back as soon as Karabagh conflict is over (no matter what the result would be). unless Armenians want to be kicked out of EU and be called aggresors and other similar things.

who were the original people of Armenia??? Armens, people of Hayasa, Somkheti, Nairi, ....???
-
khodja, you are explaining those genetic stuff well. but how would you explain so many Armenians looking very like Europeans(white)
-
quote:Originally posted by Juggernaut: mmmm, this is unfortunatelly true. Artsakh WAS a majority Azeri populated place untill 19th Century. Armenians never had a strong presence in the Caucases, our heartland lies in Eastern Anatolia. you are not correct here. in fact Armenia had strong presence in the Caucases. Zangezur and Artsakh were among other few places that did not suffer much from attack of invators from the East. and Artsakh was alway heavily populated by Armenians. those land that Poul mantioned are not part of current Karabagh. and Armenia has no claim over them. they are ready to give those lands back for independance of Karabagh.

isn't it a great site??? even my uncle's name is in there!!!!!!

another thought that bothers me. so many people claim that Armenians have Chinese genes because of Mamikonians. isn't that kind of absurde???? even if we suppose that Mamikonians (or rather, their origins) were Chinese in ethnicity. how many Chinese-Mamikonians came to Armenia?????? 1? 10? 1,000? or a million?? i suppose no more than 10 or so. then their children and grandchildren married to Armenians, for sure. and now you are saying that those 10 Chinese people from 1,500-2,000 years ago have segnificantlly affected our haritage???? i don't think so.

in your opinion, what is the most aggressive country(nation) in the world??? not only militarly, but also economically, policitally, culturally, and so on.... what was the most aggressive country(nation) in the history???

quote:Originally posted by Paul bunyan: why doesn't he spend alot of money helping Armenians NOW by buying up farm land and building houses in Kashatagh, Karavajar, Kovsakan, Kushunink, and Aghdam! this would be a greater benefit to the Armenians then paved highways because those are not Armenian lands. there are going to be returned to Azeris soon.

let's say another century passes. and Armenia and Turkey grow to be in higher levels of civilization, each on their own side of the boarder. are we going to talk about Armenia and Turkey as we do now?????
