Though it certainly is the framework on which Hay Tad developped during the next 20 years.

Whatever Baku's roots are, they surely aren't Azeri. If it's Albanian, we know that Albanians are closer to us; they were Christianized by us. My propositions: These close the questions about the city's origins: Hayagerd, Aghvanagerd, Arianagerd, Govgasagerd, Gaspagerd (Caspian sea - Gaspits Dzov) Tributes to our modern God or ancient gods, Asdvadzagerd, Aramazdagerd, Vahaknagerd, Asdghigagerd (but that's too tough!) Tribute to our beloved political party: Tashnagagerd I think Azerbaijan means land of fire, or something like that, so: Hragerd There are so many Armenian cities named after men; let us have a city named after a woman: Sosseagerd Or since we conquered it: Zinagerd (zenk), Zoragerd, Haghtagerd Or Nor Bagavan Possibilities are endless, and these are only with -gerd.

A one state solution wouldn't be good because Muslim birth-rate is high, even compared to the Jews. Eventually Palestinians would surpass Jewish population unless Jews bring in more immigrants. The Holy Land would then lose its balance and something like Lebanon would happen... And then we're back to where we started. I think they've also proposed such a solution in Cyprus but most Greeks voted no.

No! They're disputing among themselves as well. There's the islamists, the nationalists, the panturkists, the socialists, the ones who support EU, the ones who don't, and we can never forget the Kurds and the plethora of ethnicities that still exist in Turkey. And the list goes on.

The only ones who need to worry about that are those who live outside of Armenia, not in it.

Azerbaijani MPs propose starting war against Armenia [ 16 Jun 2007 14:42 ] Proposal on Azerbaijan’s starting war against Armenia was made today at the final meeting of the spring session of the parliament, APA reports. Azerbaijani MP, chairman of Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party Fazail Agamali addressing the meeting proposed announcing war against Armenia stressing that Azerbaijani society should prepare for the war. Agamali related it with the prolongation of negotiations for the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “Everybody should join the struggle for liberating our territories. Actually, Azerbaijan should declare a war to Armenia. Azerbaijan’s military budget allows it,” he said. Parliamentarian Panah Huseyn also touched on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The MP said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s position regarding the conflict satisfies local political parties and NGOs. /APA/ Thankfully, this is only supported by a seemingly small group of governmentals. Asonk MP chen, asonk gabig en dakhem-kravatov. Inkzinknin vra ge khentan gor!!!

Not only him, but also 3 other journalists of Agos, under that silly law... Murdered newspaper editor’s son and three other journalists charged with “insulting Turkish identity” Reporters Without Borders condemns the decision to prosecute Arat Dink, the son of slain Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, and three other journalists employed by his newspaper, the weekly Agos, for “insulting Turkish identity” under article 301 of the criminal code. The Istanbul prosecutor’s office requested a six-month prison sentence for Arat Dink when he appeared in court yesterday in Istanbul as his father’s successor as editor of Agos. The three other Agos journalists charged with him are Serkis Seropyan, Aydin Engin and Karin Karakashli. Dink’s father was gunned down outside the newspaper on 19 January. “Once again we have to denounce the use of article 301 of the criminal code, which is a threat to freedom of expression,” Reporters Without Borders said. “A prosecution was also initiated against Erdal Dogal, one of the Dink family’s lawyers on 7 June.” Agos’ staff is being prosecuted for republishing an interview Hrant Dink gave to Reuters in July 2006 in which he referred to the 1915 Armenian genocide and urged Armenians “to turn now towards the new blood of independent Armenia, which alone is capable of freeing them from the weight of the Diaspora.” Prior to his murder, Hrant Dink received a six-month suspended sentence for these comments, which the newspaper reproduced as part of a series entitled “The Armenian Identity.” The trial of 18 people accused of participating in Hrant Dink’s murder is due to open in Istanbul on 2 July. http://www.rsf.org/article.php3?id_article=22565

You really are fond of Quebec, aren't you.

She claimed that the ex-Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, accepted a bribe from Turkish agents in order for him to cancel the vote on the Armenian genocide in, I think, 1999 or 2000. The story was featured on Vanity Fair last year, or two years ago. This is her site: http://www.justacitizen.com/

Why should we let go? THEY should let go, and stop suffocating Armenia economically. It doesn't matter if it won't make a significant impact, but boycotting Turkish products certainly gets the message across. If, for example, Turkish exporters notice that their products aren't selling in a certain region of the US (Glendale) they'd take note of the fact that Armenians boycott Turkey. Of course there are a few good Turks who seem to accept the Armenian genocide and who are ready to say sorry, but the Turkish government isn't like that at all. Why should we let Turkey profit from what is supposed to be our money and from the products that we are supposed to export ourselves? An anecdote that came to mind: Once, I was offered Turkish sweets by a relative of mine, and on the box it was written that the company existed since 1915. Surprising, isn't it? Whatever that was used to produce those sweets were probably owned by Armenians, previously. Of course, there's an alternative. We could, as you and Arvestaked have suggested, complement the boycott by making industries in Armenia that would replace those Turkish products. However I don't see how selling stuff to Turkey would help our boycott; you're talking as if there's no blockade at all... But it's easier said than done.

HAHAHA but there's no rule for Turkish slang.

And if you're NOT going to believe in a religion keep it to yourself too. And here goes my 1000th post... I think that Anonymouse made a very good point in regards to Christianity's influence in Armenia. The Armenian nation, culture, and even the Armenian language wouldn't have been the same without Christianity, and especially without our national derivative of the Christian religion. Giving up Christianity to something that won't even give importance to Armenianness (national identity) is sad. So many nations are jealous of our rich heritage and of the development that took place in Armenia and nowhere else. Why? Because Christianity allows such a development while other religions do not. The Armenian Apostolic Church is probably also the most liberal-minded of all the Christian Churches (allowing kahanas to marry, etc.) yet also stays true to its roots.

It is tragic that Lebanon has surrendered to such a fate. Wow it's my 999th post.
