ExtraHye
I apologize that my question wasn't up to your standards. The reason I asked is because I've heard stories, just wanted to clarify them. Edited November 20, 2003 by ExtraHye

Sip
Could you get a virus from downloading music? No you can't. If you are downloading MP3 music files, there is no way for it to contain a virus that can harm anything. Just make sure the file you are getting is something.mp3 (i.e. has the mp3 extension). This also applies to many other media formats such as AVI and MPEG videos, JPG, GIF, etc etc pictures and a lots of other things. However, it is a good idea to check things carefully. The file not, but to download it she probably uses a file sharing program like Kaaza.

Maestro
Could you get a virus from downloading music? NO Dominoyou can'g get virus by downloading music A virus can only be in files that are executable. (programs)such as .exe, .Pif, .scr and some others. there is no virus in mediaformats. .mp3, .avi, .wav. .jpg, mpg and so on PPL Let SHAre SOme ARmenian MUSIC Edited November 29, 2003 by Maestro
Sip
A virus can only be in files that are executable. (programs)such as .exe, .Pif, .scr and some others.First of all welcome to the board! What you say is true. But I would like to add that files like word documents, excel spreadsheets, and other such "non-executable" files may also contain viruses. The trick there is that Microsoft office applications have this feature called "macro" that can be used to automate certain things. Well, people have figured out how to use those features to automate the doing of some bad things There are also other "holes" in a computer that viruses (or "worms") can enter from. It is always always very important to keep your windows computer updated using the windows update feature that fixes a lot of these holes. Oh and if you have MS Office, don't forget office update either What Domino is talking about is with certain programs like Kazaa, they may introduce new holes into your system that may leave you vulnerable to either viruses, hacker attacks, or just by addition of spyware that spy on what you are doing on your PC. So although these may not be "viruses", they are still problematic.
DominO123
Maestro, people usually use file sharing programs to download music, this was what I was refering to.
gurgen
Any one of you heard of Direct Connect? You'll never get a virus or a corrupt file here but you need some gigabytes share to get on the hubs. http://www.dcplusplus.comhttp://www.neo-modus.com
Maestro
you don't need to share gigs of files to get on the hubsyou can cheat by using share faker prog's.i've tried once and it worked btw nice place here
gurgen
Lol it may work once but you can get kicked/banned for that. Besides, it goes againt the principle of sharing: if all people were like you, there would be nothing to download.
Dan
http://www.haygagan.com/ Am I the only one who noticed that this website says it has Armenian MP3s but the files are .rm ? And slightly off-topic, but I thought I'd ask here.... Is there any free software that converts .rm into mp3 format? I hate hate hate .rm files. Plus, I can't burn them on CD and listen to them on the bus. damn... Anyone?
