Azat
Movses jan, Hatsatun has probably 70%-80% Armenian food and the rest is Georgian. I like their food, but they have a B on the window and that drives me nuts.

Azat
Movses I agree. I think Hatsatun would be a great place to gather. I do like the place.
Anileve
Evelina, the place is in Fort Lee (or nearby) I forget the name, when I was there it was full (not hard to get it full since it is small). The food is allright. I have their contact at home, if you really hate your money I will let you know when I get home. Well, as a cheap eater myself I consider $60 a piece (w/o tip) quite a rip off. I prefer a nearby Lebanese restaurant which has almost the same food (minus live music and belly dancer) and costs only $10-15. Actually, I blame my boss for recommending me the place and telling me it was not expensive. I've heard of it. But it's all the way in Fort Lee, nope I'll stay with Lebanese food in NYC. Thanks anyway. By the way other eateries most Armenians flock to in NYC are Russian Restaurants, in their words: "Good food ( that could be speculated), good music (ehm ya ok), good vodka (one out of 3 is true I guess if you like that rubbing alcohol taste in your throat), and good __ ( you fill in the blank, we know what particular aspect of Russia Armenian men admire the most ). THOTH
Sounds good Azat..lets keep that in mind...makes me think of a very nice (pretty)Georgian lady (unknown at first) I flirted with a bit this weekend...beuatiful eyes..and we talked food, and lands (homelands..and home...), and accents, and friends.. as she was behind the counter and I unintenitonaly (but greatfully) worked my way into quite an unaticipated discount...so for all you guys..when you hear a beautifuyl accent and look into some very entrnacing (in this case green!) eyes...by all means pass the compliments and ask the questions and you might be suprised where it leads ..again in this case to a meeting with an Armenian who overheard me claiming to be such and a nice follow on discussion ensued..oh and yes..the discount...and the beautiful smile..and those eyes....and the people (all of us) who all walked away happy and content and I imagian with a story or two to tell... THOTH
Well (Azat?) - i was tempted to start another thread here - but as Sip thrilled us with his canned chilli and cheese post i guess I can assume its alright to say here that some f my favorite gormet (?) or otherwise meals I've ever had...well have been made by me, myself..LOl...like tonight...and i post this specifically here as Sip is obviously a meat and potatos kind of guy (as am I...though with perhaps a bit broader outlook...)...and i like to think that meat and potatos can indeed be gormet and can indeed be served in sufficient quanity to not have to rely on midnight snacks from the cubord to satiate ones ultimate hunger (after drinking a bit and whatever else eh?)..so anyway I wanted to post about this wonderful (I think) dinner I made tonight..and the fact that indeed - quality can be had from the seemingly simplest of ingredients etc...and yes - to get to the point i fixed a very nice dinner - from scratch - tonight - in Iron chef quickness! - consisting of a big piece of Top Round (Black Angus though - please note!) and some potatos (again - yukon gold - best in the West - as it were)...always necessary to start with high qulity ingredients! - and of course all my secret flavoring and such..well OK basically Molases, a lemon or several, liquid smoke!, black pepper...and a whole bunch finely sliced shallots (though have had sucesss with those little pearl onions...red, yellow or white)...and anyway I made my) "gormet" London Broil (from my own concieved recipe...see previous...as well as with some Boyjian Garlic oil - wonderful stuff that!..added), with baked, lightly salted, butered and peppered Yukon Golds!...and believe me you will never buy a standard Idaho again...and a very nice (avant garde?) salad consisting of mixed greens, sliced yellow peppers, and Chinese cabbage (bok choy)..in a home made (very aged) balsamic v, olive oil, pommegrant juice and feta cheese dressing...et etc (all prepared in about an hour!) ...with some nice S Rhone (red) wine...followed by a desert of Irish Coffee Pralines (called Lacase...and truly delicious) from Spain...with Italian sparkling [natural] lemon mineral water - mixed with - French Framboise (18% alch BTW)...and yeah....that prety much summed it up....and oh BTW already prepared tommorows dinner while I was at it - I'm calling it Thai Bok Pow!...you figure it out (yeah lots of Bok Choy..must have been on sale,...yeah..)..with my own honemade Kung Pow (chilli & garlic) marrinade for the meat (more Top round..yeah...on sale....lol)...but this time will be stir fried in my wok with all sorts of mixed (fresh) veggies (along with penuts & fresh pinneapple!) ...already cut up and ready to go...that i will make in a red curry (and possibly? still deciding...) cocunut milk sauce...to mix with the Kung Pow spiced beef...actually much beter then it might sounds (really I do have the touch..and yeah - s0mehow I do manage to con and conjole my kids into eating it...lol)..anyway..yeah...who needs to go out eh? And my wine selection is certainly better then 99.9% of the restaruiants on the planet (still deciding on tommorws..a dry minerally white perhaps? or another spicy red!) ....lol....OK well there I did mange to post about all of this after all...wonderd how I'd mange it...but yeah...satisfaction from a good effort and a nice satisfying meal..so yeah why not and who rally does need to go out eh?...yum yum...anyway... Azat
I know you guys are going to think I am the biggest idiot in the world after this next story.(Sip I know you already think this ) Just got back from a dinner from Campanile on La Brea. It was AMAZING. Thursday nights are sandwich nights at Campanile and I have to say that they are the most amazing things I have ever tasted in the world. A bit pricey(to say the least[$267 for 4 including a 110 bottle of wine]) but well worth every penny. Highly recommend it. You need reservations way in advance for the Thursday night thing, but even their regular menu is incredible.
Armat
Azat jan, you are not an idiot at all.Life's is too short,in the end the happy memories that stays with you.I would do exactly the same and even more.I would buy a dirt bike and go directly to desserts and better yet Baja in Mexico-one of the most prestine landscapes still unspoiled. What was the wine do you remember?
THOTH
OK - $110 for a nice bottle of wine I can see (easily..and I've spent at least double that before)....but $40 for a sandwhich????? The most I've probably spent on a sandwhich before was a Rueben at the Carnegie deli or soem such in New York..maybe $15 don't know (and certainly worth every penny...however it could easily have been a meal for a family of 4..ad in fact - our entire table - of people I didn't even know before - did buy and share a singel piece of cheescake for our collective desert...and it was plenty...) Azat
No Winston, sandwhich were 15-24 dollars, but we had a glass of beer each and a desert and such.

Stormig
Actually, I take that back. Seems like a long time ago (but it wasn't ) that I had a very enjoyable restaurant experience, but it was the hot sexy company sitting opposite me that made it that; I don't even remember the food. sev-mard
It's not all hye class(puns intended) but I like the Olive Garden, one of my favorite joints. My problem is that whenver I got out to 'nice' places, I just suck up the moment, my girl, the night or whatever, I don't pay attention to the resturant name and all of that. I have been to a place called Il Fornio on the coast of Del Mar in So. Cal that is a very nice Italian place.

Azat
I recently was raped, screwed, F'ed over, you can add any other beautiful words you may feel here. We have a fairly new "Hot" Restaurant in LA called Bastide on Melrose where on any given night you can find stars and "important" people eating there. All the reviews give it either 5 stars or "Highly Recommended" rating. Went dining there recently with 3 friends. Very sophisticated design and looks all chic. We ordered a bottle of Pelegrino and a very nice bottle of wine. Each had a small appetizer and a small salad. So far so good. Nothing to write home about but so far it is a 4.5 Star in my head as well. Entrées arrived and have to say that of 4 of us only 1 felt that their food was great and everything else was either overcooked or was cold and just not that great. We had finished with that bottle so we decided to have another as it was a great bottle. We ordered 2 desert and 2 cups of coffee(2 cap and 2 espressos) We were splurging so it was a blast but the food was not 5 star for sure. Then came the bill: Each bottle of wine was $125 so we knew it was going to be high. each cappuccino was 14 dollars Espressos were 9.5 Deserts were 18 dollars each(what the hell is in them) Appetizers/Salads were between 21-28 dollars Entrées were between 33-47 dollars Tax and Tip $900 --- Holly cow!!!! are you kidding me? this is a place that not only I bit anyone I can think of will never visit a second time. vava
Azat - when you finally come to Montreal, I promise I'll take you some of the finest restos in the North East (and true to Montreal fine dining, you won't have to spend a small fortune, you'll just have to pay for me )
