I was with my wife in Greece and stopped at a small grocery store in Athens and upon buying some fruit the old bearded Greek man started to pack my bags with fruit.I said sir but we did not want all these fruit but the old man kept stuffing our bags and said It's free on the house! (about 25 dollars, I think, for the backward people among us ) for everything, including drinks and tip! And that's a serious limit. The best types of restaurants I like are generally the ethnic ones. Indonesian is very popular here and very good. I also like Surinamese, Persian, Greek and ahhhhh, Eritrean. Yes, I have had Eritrean, for no more than € 15 (about 30 guilders at the time) including drinks, tip and no cutlery. You pay for quality of food first of all.The French restaurant that I work Top 25 in the nation they order everything organic top notch even the butter and cream and home made breads.The decor alone at this place is unbeliavable which costs a lot.Overall you are paying for a total experiance not just filling up not that anything is wrong with Ethnic resourants but next time maybe ask where the fish,meats vegis come from and then you will understand that cheap quality products translate cheap prices. I don't go often out to eat but when I do I go to special places, the last one was an Italian rest.in N.End hystoricall section of Boston and the place literally is a museum.It is furnished with Renasance real Art, beatiful walls, marble everywhere and the food was not too expensive. Sasun Posted January 18, 2004 Report Share Posted January 18, 2004 Armat jan, I am on the side of budget eaters on this issue however, I wouldn't mind expensive restaurants at all if somebody else is to pay for it I could accomplish the pleasure you are describing in 2 steps: 1) stuff your face at a place like taco bell, 2) go to a museaum and enjoy renesance art. Also I hate waiting at a restaurant for an hour just to get the damn food with an empty stomach, and then I get almost kicked out after I am done eating. Armat jan, I eat 90% of the time outside, most of the time Chinese, Italian, Paraguayan, and fast food but not so often. I would be curious to know if $6-10 value Chinese food has the chemicals and hormons that you are mentioning. I would really be disappointied to know that's the case But I am not a very cheap eater Occasionally I go to Japanese, Italian, Brazilian and other nicer places  Sas what do you think about my chix and egg dance  Hmm... that is one naked chicken dancing. I have become a total food snob and on an average month I waste probably around $1000 in restaurants. I know I am an idiot.  Anyways, back to Good food... Rockenwagner - had dinner there about a month ago with friends. This is a German/Austrian restaurant in Santa Monica that serves GREAT food. I use to go to LA for training for my 2 or 3 times a year for my job and I frequently visited this place. They have a lot a mock meat dishes that are great! Â Even so I would rather go to a whole in the wall place than a really expensive one, where I pay a ****load of money to get a nicely decorated plate with a flower in the middle and a little food on the side. I like the way I look for now and this is definitely not the look I want to aspire --> Â I had some Thai seafood soup last nigh with crabs, shrimp, hot pepper, baby corn, calamari, and mussels. As far as my research goes, every possible Armenian restaurant in NYC has been shut down. It really cracked me up when I took a trip to an Armenian restaurant right across the street from the Turkish restaurant and all I found in its place is a Romanian cuisine, and yet "strangely" in the Turkish restaurant (which has been in business for God knows how many years), my eyes stumbled upon a rather large number of Armenian customers enjoying Turkish food. Now I ask how the hell do you scream about Turks being dogs (although I absolutely hate that idea, I have nothing personal towards the Turks, gov. yes, people no), and yet you can't even keep your restaurant in business. Â In fact there is one place left in Brooklyn, but it is nothing short of a cafeteria. And in NJ I heard there is not much of a restaurant and most of the time it remains full of empty air ( my guess is they will be closing down soon as well). What do they serve in the armenian restaurants  You know the traditional staff Russian & medal eastern food One place in La / Glendale to go if you like 100% Armenian atmosphere and food is Hatsatun, the place is designed after well known restaurant in Armenia Tsaxkadzor / the moment you walk in you fill like your back home - you have Tundir / Khnotsy / Armenian folk music is in the backhand, all of the employees are warring traditional Armenian Taraz – like from Sasun & mush  The food is excellent, 90% Armenian and the prices are just fine I’ll se if can get some of the pictures / from last time we was dining at hatsatun Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Evelina, the place is in Fort Lee (or nearby) I forget the name, when I was there it was full (not hard to get it full since it is small). The food is allright. I have their contact at home, if you really hate your money I will let you know when I get home. Well, as a cheap eater myself I consider $60 a piece (w/o tip) quite a rip off. I prefer a nearby Lebanese restaurant which has almost the same food (minus live music and belly dancer) and costs only $10-15.
