Jugs - don't you ever remember hearing something about "he who cast the first stone" etc - so "get a life" - ie mind your own business/worry about yourself - don't be so obsessed over how others live their lives - I'm sure you have enough issues of your own to take care of...

THOTH,

I couldnt care less what Damien did in his bedroom, I had simply misunderstood his post, and thanks to Sip for the clarification. But from my perspective, you take every opportunity to ridicule me and some of the other forum members who dont conform with your views. Also, I would like to point out that the majority of Armenians that were born there, would agree with me over all the issues that we have discussed here, from religion to politics. So its not as if me, Tigran and Co are the exception, we ARE the majority (just not the majority on this forum).

Id like to make an input in this discussion.

I dont see how u put all the anger and blame on the armenian community! Prejudice agains gay and lesbians are everwhere in the world!

Armenians are spread worldwide. Armenian kids in America have diffrent upbringings comparing to armos in Sweden or France or wherever. We see diffrent things and get diffrent perspectives on things.

I believe that it's WRONG to blame it on our nation!Whenever there is a problem blame it on the armenian community! I see a pettern here.

We have many difficulties to overcome in our community today. Due to the fact that we have survived a Genocide (1915), wars (Nakhitjevan, Karabahk(Artsahk)), earthquakes, the Sovjet fall.

There are many things that is left unsolved.

The prejudice of the gay and lesbian community is a big problem. Wich can only ONLY be solved through international cooperation.

Are you refering to gay's & lesbian's being prejudiced against the rest of us? (sorry - I realize that English may not be your first language...and actually you write quite well...but the way this is stated it is unclear).

My 2 cents - what difference does it make to the rest of us - or to society etc if some choose to love their own sex? Why is it OK for children of the same sex to play together - but not adults? I don't see any difference - nor any reason for such a big fuss.

The "problem" as I see it dear Thoth, is that many believe that homosexual behavior is learned. Therefore, it can be taught ... it can be "contagous". I don't know if I agree with that or not, but if that is true, then I can easily understand the paranoia, the distrust, and the hatered that many heteros seem to have against homos.

After all, I don't know ANY hetero that would be too happy if their kid turns out to be (or becomes) a homo. I do understand that you are basically questioning the reasons behind this fact ... but that doesn't change the fact that it is a fact!

People generally remember how they learned to tie their shoe laces and who taught them their multiplication tables. Queers generally have no logical connection between their sexuality and environmental influences / education.

To conclude that homosexuality is "learned" simply due to the absence of scientific proof of a genetic link is absurd. It is like any of us who don't really know Vahe G, for example, concluding that he is a righteous, angry and aggressive man because of one reason or another. We just don't know. BUT...what would happen if someone took a personal interest and thought to simply ask him what HE thought was the root of his angst? Some peace and understanding might just come of this method. Similarly, a non-heterosexual person would probably be the best source of an opinion on their own situation.

I don't for a moment speak on behalf of queers world wide, because every one person has a different history, but I know that I had homosexual tendencies since I was a very young child. Neither of my siblings nor any of my childhood friends were gay to warrant talk of "recruitment" to the other side. I just always knew that I liked boys more than girls. It's just how I always have been.

There is no need for anyone to justify to others why they desire those things in life which make them feel true to themselves. So the best we can do is accept that some people are different to others, and for some of us this may mean simply agreeing to disagree. No one of us is right when it comes to desire. It is simply a human trait that we all share, however diverse in its flavours.

So next time we think of a derogetory remark to dish out to someone, just stop first and think," is this really necessary?". The correct answer - no.

Excellent post Damien. And Thank you for using the term "non-heterosexual person' instead of Gay and Lesbian. I firmly believe that sexual orientation is biologically based. We have had Gays and bisexuals in our family over many generations, including a number of priests who I never met. Most of these people, scattered around the world due to the Genocide, never even met each other. These are all on my mother's side. Recessive genes sometimes skip a generation or "go into hiding" for a few generations. I am the classic bisexual, as opposed to the classic homosexual who realizes this very early in life. Bisexuals usually begin to realize this later, primarily in their 20s. This trend points toward a genetic base. My self-imposed celibacy, except in marriage or a committed heterosexual relationship, does not change my sexual orientation. I am still bisexual, just not practicing.

What are you saying Vahe G? Besides being a mental neandertal you fashion yourself as some king of physical one as well? Are you telling me that you object to me stating my opinions - that you wish to silence me? And I've been hearing complaints that it is us progressive types that somehow are curtailing mental midgets like you from saying your piece. So here you have it folks - Vahe G. has stated he will say no more (probably a good isea - because anything he says will only get him in deeper...) - and for the record I have never called for his silence (even though I beleive he has just threatened me - no?)

A spurious argument IMO. And shares some similarity with folks who don't want to associate with Blacks, Mexicans who whoever - its the same kind of mentality IMO - people who hate others because they are different - f*ck em I say.

I have two boys - and I will respect their choices. Will I interject my thoughts - certainly - but everyone must be able to make their own choices in life - I wouldn't freak out or anything. I would be somewhat disapointed though - I'm kinds looking foreword to them bringing home some cute young girls (for me to oggle and enjoy their energy & youth etc)...I just don't think I'll (actually I know that I won't)get the same thrill if they were to bring home some guy. etc But - I'd be happy (for their happiness) just the same...

Damien - indeed a nice post. In the end what does it matter. Be it a choice or genetics I just don't think it much matters. (though genetic determination seems much to strong...there are certainly societal and environmental factors - regardless). The real issue is that mature intelligent people respect the choices that others make and don't feel the need that everyone must be exactly like them - otherwise we are no different then Taliban - IMO....

Well sure, absolutly - but thats a ways off anyway (and not even all hetero couples have kids, nor does everyone necessarily even get married or have gids outside of marraige anyway - so its all a bit of a crap shoot...)...and I'm really not sure I'll live that long regardless...almost bit it 1 year ago...and certainly glad to be alive now (so I can whup your ass in fantasy footaball for one thing!)...but I can't count on much these days...

Harut,

If you would like to get more familiar with a forum participant, I would think the correct etiquette would be to send an email or personal message.

But since you ask, i can't say that I go for any particular "type". Though I've seen a couple of yummy armos in my day!

Damien.

Common ACC ... are you looking to start trouble again? I think Damien is very right in this case (about the PM/email thing).

Oh, and about the yummy comment ... I'm sorry but http://zr2.cs.ucla.edu/Sip/zr2/barf.gif ... I have seen what happens to my cat when it tries to cough up all the hair ... and most Armos have a lot more hair than my cat
