What a time for a slump. I really feel bad for Dougie Gilmour - he's a truly great player and he's about to retire. He deserves a good playoff run, at the very least.... makes me mad. smilies/mad.gifYeah it really is too bad for Montreal (snicker)LOL I will always love Dougie "G".......see, if he had have signed with the leafs again he could very well have enjoyed a good playoff run! On a serious note though, I agree -- I'd rather see Montreal in the post season then Ottawa or Vancouver!

I even used to like Winnipeg! Ottawa could be a great opportunity for us to bring the cup back (if they don't choke). And Van has a really exciting team this year.... We'll see how the run goes. vava
In a few short years, hockey will become as irrelevant as baseball & basket ball. So sad.
vava
Hey Raffi - The Leafs picked up Wesley from the Canes - a nice addition to the blue-line. I think they're trying to make a run at the cup!
Bakersfieldian
Outside of Church/raising my son, hockey is my biggest obsession! It's great to see others on here share that. This is one of the few years were I really don't have a clear favorite for winning the Cup. I'd like to see the Leafs win, of course. Bakersfieldian
Does anyone on here go to any minor league games? I love hockey at all levels and here in Bakersfield I am a season ticket holder with our local team (Condors WCHL). I'd rather watch 10 year old's play on a frozen pond then go to a major league baseball game. The rivalry between Bakersfield and Fresno is especially intense! WCHL

Dan
LOL @ Leafs. My my. I even paid like 40 bucks for my Leafs shirt. And boy, am I pissed off! Like, congrats to all Leaf fans out there - you've got a brand new golf team. LOL The Leafs are seriously OLD. Man, they need some spirit. The Sens SUCK. They are tooooooooo arrogant. Dan Cloutier is just AWESOME. And the Sedin bros are great. Hell, now, THAT is a HOCKEY team. I'm a new fan of the Canucks. They will kick @ss!! By the way, kudos to the Flyers - they were really good, I must admit - although a weee bit too rough. And the St. Louis Blues put on a great game too at game 7. GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!! Accelerated
I used to be an avid hockey fan, back in CCCP. I remmember when the national team would tour the States, thrashing one team after another. We recently got ESPN on TV so i get to watch some NHL games, now I gotto find a team to cheer for . Does LA have a team? Are they any good? And how does the 'conference' system work? Is it like, a number of separate leagues, the winners of which play each other etc.
Sip
LA has two teams ... the kings and the ducks ... that's pretty much the limit of my NHL knowledge. If you are looking for a team to root for, I recommend the Lakers. They need all the rooting they can get right now.

Accelerated
LA has two teams ... the kings and the ducks ... that's pretty much the limit of my NHL knowledge. Which one do the Armos (of LA) cheer for. The other day I saw the ducks beat the Red Wings (Last years champions), so I assume their pretty good. If you are looking for a team to root for, I recommend the Lakers. I dont like basketball, boring to play and even more boring to watch. Thanks for the link Dan. Dan
OK, it seems like I'm talking to myself here, but anyhow, I will just post and ask a coupla questions, hoping that someone will answer. OK, so during the 2nd game between Canucks and Wild, in the 3rd period, there was a shot at the Wild net, and the lights on the Wild net went on, but it was a total mess, and the ref was not really at an angle to judge the shot. So my question is, if one of the players put their hand on the puck and moved it, wouldn't that be a penalty? And if there was no whistle immediately, doesn't it mean that the puck was still in play, and therefore the goalie didn't have it, but rather it was loose? So where was the puck? And how come the goal lights went on right when the puck was not visible?? I'm just a bit confused about that... And there were rally bad hits that should've been penalized, but weren't. Is there actually a place where you can appeal the entire game for unfair ruling, and have the game results annuled? I'm assuming if you don't appeal right away (during the game), you can't do it afterwards, cos that's the case in many other sports. I don't know. Anyone? And am I the only one who thinks the refs in these playoffs are HORRIBLE? We all know the Canucks shot was in, during the first game vs. the Wild, and it was not even considered a goal before the Canucks started celebrating. My question is, wouldn't the goal lights go on? Note that Manny F. did not touch the puck at the time. So did the lights go on? And if yes, how come the goal wasn't counted? Am I too confused about hockey, or does someone else see the point I'm trying to make? Or is it not that simple? *a confused hockey fan* Dan GO CANUCKS GO!!!! vava
Dan - it doesn't really matter now - Canucks won game 3...
vava
What I really mean, is that it matters less now that the leafs (& habs) are not in contention for the cup
Dan
LOL, well, you mean if the Canucks get the cup it will be cos the Leafs were out? Ummm, but the Leafs were really GOLFING. Yea, the Canucks won game 3!!!! So did the Sens. But man, the Flyers are playing rough. And does anyone think the officiating SUCKS? There were really stupid calls on both teams by the refs. Especially the one on Bertuzzi. I think there must be a "Bertuzzi penalty" in the rule-book or something. The headlines should go like this: Ref calls penalty on Bertuzzi for breathing. I've never seen the Habs at play. Are they good? Or do they golf often? My guess is, though, that the Flyers will win the cup. Dan
