Yervant1
CCAF HEAD: TURKISH THREATS AGAINST FRANCE INADMISSIBLE PanARMENIAN.NetAugust 31, 2012 - 13:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey's EU Minister Egemen Baðýþ' response toFrance's decision to include a chapter about the Armenian Genocidein secondary school textbooks proves Turkish government's intentionto continue denial policy, head of Co-ordination Council of ArmenianOrganizations of France (CCAF) said. As Mourad Papazian told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Turkey willrun counter to France at international level, if President FrancoisHollande signs the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial. "Turkish threats against France are unacceptable. We take steps thatwill counter mean tricks to deny the Genocide. We launch campaigns tounmask Turkey, which perpetrated the arrest of hundreds of journalists, lawyers, trade unionists and students. Truth will win in the end,"Mr. Papazian said. Official Ankara has voiced a "strong protest" against France's decisionto include a chapter about the Armenian Genocide in secondary schooltextbooks. Turkey's EU Minister and chief negotiator Egemen Baðýþ has urged Paris"against testing bilateral relations once again". "I call on the French authorities to intensify efforts in resolvingthe Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the framework of OSCE Minsk Grouprather than distort the historical facts," he said. He also urged the French authorities to "face own history rather thancheck-up fictitious facts." According to earlier Turkish media reports, the French EducationMinistry has decided to include chapters about the Genocide in historyand geography textbooks by order of President Hollande. On January 23, 2012, the French Senate passed the bill making it acrime to deny the Armenian Genocide. The bill envisaged imposing a45,000 euro fine and a year in prison for anyone in France who deniesthis crime against humanity committed by the Ottoman Empire. Later, the French Constitutional Council ruled that the bill asanti-constitutional. In a statement the Council said the documentrepresented an "unconstitutional breach of the practice of freedomof expression and communication." After election, President Holande pledged to introduce a similar billthat would go in line with the country's constitution. Turkish Education Ministry officials said they will first need toexamine the book and see if it "includes phrases that incriminateTurkey and they will respond in line with international law throughdiplomatic channels." Yervant1
ANKARA GETS ANOTHER "SURPRISE" FROM FRANCE PanARMENIAN.NetSeptember 1, 2012 French students will hardly miss the opportunity to learn true historyof Ottoman Empire, while Ankara again compromised itself. Poor knowledge on legislation and governmental system of othercountries played a mean trick on Turkey and, unfortunately, on Armenianmedia as well. The decision of the French ministry of education, which has nothing to do with the country's president, to includestudy of the Armenian Genocide into the secondary school curriculum, sparked a new splash of hatred towards France in Ankara. Turkey met this move with an immediate rebuff, and this is not thefirst case. The Turks seem to be just busy finding fault with thewhole world over the Armenian Genocide. PanARMENIAN.Net - They keep nagging and grudging, send notes [ofprotests] and try to intervene into internal affairs of France,Switzerland and several other countries. Actually, Turkey's EUMinister Egemen BagıÅ~_ has no right to demand anything fromthe French ministry of education. Weakness of French ex-presidentNicolas Sarkozy who did not sign the bill criminalizing the denialof the Armenian Genocide and sent it to the Constitutional Courtunleashed Turkey which started to believe it can impose its rules ofgame. Furthermore, BagıÅ~_ claimed no other country in the worldcan boast a history as simple and transparent as Turkey's."Turkeydoes not know what Genocide is; Turks take pride in their historyand ancestors," he said. Indeed, the Ottoman Empire based on otherconcepts - deportation, the way to nowhere, annihilation of Christiannations of the empire, especially the Armenians. The minister shouldhave been reminded of the fact that the modern Turkish republic wasbuilt on bones and money of the Armenians. Now, lets' get back to the Turkish minister who has urged Parisagainst testing bilateral relations once again. "I call on the Frenchauthorities to intensify efforts in resolving the Nagorno Karabakhconflict in the framework of OSCE Minsk Group rather than distortthe historical facts," Hurriyet Daily News quotes BagıÅ~_ as saying. He also urged the French government to "face own history rather thancheck-up fictitious facts." This was an obvious blunder by the Turkishofficial, of course. France equally mentions both the bloody pages of its history and itsvictories. No one in France ever denies the massacre of St.Bartholomew's Day, brutalities of the Great French Revolution, or theconquest of Algeria. BagıÅ~_ may be unaware of this, anyway... Asto the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Turkey has no chance tobe ever dealing with this issue. The most ridiculous part of this story is that Turkey, for somereason, is addressing the French leader Hollande with an urge to"intervene". According to the Turkish media, the decision of theFrench minister of education may again have a negative impact onthe ties between France and Turkey; the latter hoped the new Frenchpresident would support restoration of contacts with Paris. There is nothing new in the "squabble" that started between France andTurkey back in 2001. Turkey is again trying to rehabilitate itselfthrough blackmail; this works with regard to U.S. and Great Britainonly, and totally fails in Europe. The French students will hardly miss the opportunity to learn thetrue history of the Ottoman Empire, while Ankara has again compromiseditself. However, since attack is the best form of defence, Turkey rushed toprotect itself, trying hard to position its country as a "beacon ofdemocracy in the Islamic world". Still, this becomes increasinglyharder. No doubt, in 2015 Turkey will again deny the ArmenianGenocide. Also, this atrocity against the humanity will undoubtedlygain recognition by many other states in the upcoming two years. So,instead of demonstrating wishful thinking and threatening others,Ankara will have to take more reasonable moves. Yervant1
FRANCE RESPONDS TO TURKEY news.amSeptember 05, 2012 | 11:43 The Turkish Embassy in France sent an official note to the country'sEducation Ministry and required a review of the material, in connectionwith the Armenian Genocide, which is included in France's new historytextbooks. The Turkish note claimed that the respective information in thesetextbooks is not based on scientific facts, the Turkish Samanyoluwebsite informs. And the French Education Ministry responded by noting that in 2001France formally recognized the events in 1915 as genocide, andtherefore including them in the textbooks is very normal. "The material included in the textbooks is prepared by scientistsand editors, and, in terms of scientific genuineness, we must notethat they were studied thoroughly," the French Education Ministry'sresponse stated. Yervant1
Hurriyet Daily News, TurkeySept 19 2012 Jihad romance: We'd love you dearly if you converted! BURAK BEKDİL According to the findings of an international survey, Turks adorethemselves but not any other nation, and the world does not care muchfor them overall. Yet maybe it is better this way, as `to love oneselfis the beginning of a lifelong romance,' according to Oscar Wilde; orto quote Paul Valery `love is being stupid together.' It looks as though the Turks have faith in a lifelong romance.According to Transatlantic Trends, an annual survey of public opinion,85 percent of Turks have a favorable view of their own country ' whereeven ducks can be raped (`Man rapes duck in Turkish village ` HürriyetDaily News ` Sept. 14, 2012). But this `un-love' for other nations is not unrequited: Only 42percent of the EU12 and 43 percent of Americans have a favorableopinion of Turks and Turkey. And according to an Islamist columnist, Turkey, (post-Assad) Syria andLibya should spearhead efforts to build an `Islamic commonwealth.'`Those were the days,' this columnist wrote with a painful longing forthe good old days when even `non-Muslim women in Muslim lands had tocover their heads with a scarf.' According to another Islamist columnist the only way we can come tolove America is if the whole country converted to Islam! Simple, justlike Malcolm X did, he wrote. Sure, he promised, we shall love Americaif Americans lived true Muslim lives and `therefore, they did notkill, steal or provoked enmity.' Perhaps the Americans should considerthis generous offer if they want to be loved by the Turks and otherMuslims. Once in a love affair, the now Muslim-Americans and Turks canbe stupid together. But being Turkish is quite a face value these days: on the Middle Eastkidnapping market Turkish passports are real top value. Before thesecond kidnapped Turk in Lebanon was freed, Yemeni tribesmen kidnappeda Turkish bus driver in the country's south to push the government torelease a jailed kinsmen. At the current pace of kidnappings, theTurkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs may soon have to launch a `SpecialDepartment for the Release of Kidnapped Nationals.' Turks may prefer to be `unhappy alone than unhappy with someone else.'But it is sad that the famous motto we all learned at school in the50s to the late 80s is still enjoying overwhelming popularity despitethe collapse of Kemalism: `A Turk's only friend is a Turk.' Religionper se has failed to spark the love affair Turkish Islamists hoped itwould ignite with other Muslim nations. Apparently, Muslimness doesnot suffice: Which sect are you? Which tribe are you? Do you believein Shariah? Are you secular? Do you shake hands with women? Why do youhave your wedding ring on your left hand? Are you an Arab Muslim ornon-Arab? Why did your ancestors enslave ours for centuries? Perhaps more... Even Sunni Muslim Turks and Sunni Muslim Kurds arekilling each other in one of world's most violent conflicts of thepast half century. Apparently, there will be further bloodshed as longas Turkish bigwigs believe that `a common faith' can solve thisdispute. Remember how the Turkish interior minister called the PKKfighters a few months ago? `Oh, they are pork-eating Zoroastrians!'And, more recently, how did a lawmaker from the ruling Justice andDevelopment Party refer to them? `Ah, oh, uh, these kids are Armenianconverts!' We have no means to know if the honorable lawmaker knows things wedon't, like whether the Turkish authorities perform human skull teststo determine the race of enemy fighters. We don't know either if thatlawmaker is equipped with a surreal talent to tell a body's ethnicbackground just by looking at a photograph. But in this age of Sunni-Muslim-Turkish supremacy, nothing should besurprising. Dear seven billion plus inhabitants of the world: We willlove you if you convert to (Sunni) Islam and adopt Turkishness! Nodeadlines, but just be smart enough not to miss this chance.September/19/2012

Yervant1
BAKU SEEKS $431,5 BN. IN "DAMAGES" FROM KARABAKH PanARMENIAN.NetSeptember 25, 2012 - 16:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azeri Ministry of Economic development assessed the"total damage" inflicted to Azerbaijan as a result of a so-calledArmenian "occupation," or rather, liberation of historical Armenianlands.Azeri calculations boiled down to an astronomical sum of $431,5bn. Azeri Ministries of Ecology and Economic Development, as well asa State Committee on Refugee and IDPs Affairs had a hand in cookingup the figure. Moreover, as Baku assures the damage assessment isstill in progress. Clearly, the "assessment" came as a result of Astana-hostedinternational congress of appraisers where Baku was instructedto develop the standards of assessing the damages suffered in theinternational conflict. Moreover, calls to sue Armenia in international court for economicdamages are becoming louder in Baku. One may suppose, the "total damages" will be growing in proportionto the frequency of those calls. Back in 2005, Azeri assessed a similar damage at $26,5 bn, with thefigure having magically swollen up by over 16 times in 7 years. Obviously, Baku has finally realized that the Nagorno Karabakh Republicwill never become a part of the country propagating hatred towardsArmenian nation and bringing up a generation of axe-killers. So, to have something to show for it, Azerbaijan, with over a $22 bnstate budget, is trying to make a market of Karabakh. MosJan
Former Turkish president Turgut Ozal’s body exhumed for probeTurkish media say authorities are exhuming the body of former president Turgut Ozal for a probe into his April 1993 death in office, AP reports. Anadolu Agency says the exhumation at an Istanbul mausoleum started early Tuesday morning. It follows an official report in June that concluded that Ozal's death was suspicious. Family members have long claimed that Ozal might have been poisoned. His pro-Western policies helped modernize Turkey and gave the U.S.-led coalition a strategic ally during the Persian Gulf War. Doctors at the time said Ozal, who underwent triple bypass surgery in 1987, died of heart failure. Tests will now be conducted to try to confirm the cause of death. As a matter of fact, the Istiglal is a sort of a weapon, produced inthe South African Republic out of license, the Armenian MOD secretaryArtsrun Hovhannisyan said. Hence, the Azerbaijani side simply stole it. However, the fact ofbeing out of license is not the greatest default of the weapon. "The weapon features bad optics.
