Yervant1
16:03 02/09/2013 » Society ‘‘Azadlig’’: Have Filipinos heard about existence of newspaper which had in August announced Aliyev ‘‘Man of the Year’’? The official newspaper of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan", referring to its "reliable sources" issues information that the Philippine newspaper “Biz News Asia” has awarded the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev a "Man of the Year." In this regard, the newspaper "Azadlig" expresses its bewilderment, how the pro-government newspaper can ignore such editions as “Washington Post”, “Spiegel”, “The New York Times” and call a Filipino newspaper edition, which is not even found by the Google search engine, "edition with a wide audience." "Typically, these types of rates are published in late December or early January, just like in the case of footballers, actors or singers. Awarding Ilham Aliyev with the title of "Man of the Year" coincided with the pre-election period and the eighth month of the current year. They say that all haphazards are conditioned by necessity. The fact that the name of Ilham Aliyev appeared in the Philippine edition looks like a "terrible" necessity. However, it is not clear, whether this newspaper was late with announcing Ilham Aliyev a "Man of the Year" in 2013, or hurried for the 2014th," the newspaper writes. "Thus, for 10 years he did not managed to become a "man" for the Azerbaijani people, but he became the "Man of the year" in the Philippines. Congratulations ... It’s rather interesting whether the Filipinos have heard about the existence of such a publication?" ironically concludes the Azerbaijani newspaper. Arpa
This is beyond bizarre. Pecheneq? No, pezevek/bozavag. I post it here under Comedistan, even though I don’t think it is funny. I am not laughing. I am laughing as to what length these comedians will go.Stay with me. I bet you, next we will see how the Lousavorich was a turk from Kayseri. My apologies for the length of the article. Read it and laugh. No, read it and weep. Pecheneq? No, pezevek/bozavag.==== From Groong ANKARA: Let's Meet At The Pecheneq Monument On September 8th From: Katia Peltekian <kpeltekian@gmail.com>Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2013 08:33:20 +0000 (UTC)LET'S MEET AT THE PECHENEQ MONUMENT ON SEPTEMBER 8THRadikal, TurkeySept 1 2013Baskin Oran[Traslated from Turkish by Nurhan Becidyan]Remember the Van Akhtamar Church which was going to be demolished in1951 and which later in 2007 was restored? I used to think that itwas an Armenian church, yet it turns out to be a Turkish church. TheState has lied to us. Now they will have to account for this. Soonour public prosecutors can start three very important court cases:1) Against the Turkish Armed Forces for attempting to demolish athousand plus year old Turkish monument on June 25, 1951; 2) AgainstPrime Minister Erdogan's government for declaring it as an "ArmenianChurch" and restoring it as such in 2007; 3) Against all the pastTurkish Republic governments for allowing this Turkish monument toalmost collapse due to neglect. Of course all three cases will have tobe opened under the Turkish Criminal Code Article 301/1 which covers"publicly insulting Turkishness."I had heard firsthand about these destructions years ago, but thisfact has nothing to do with our present subject matter. In the springof 1999 I had visited the Cappadocia region. Our guide had told us:"I was with a commando unit during my military service. One day,our commanding officer told us to gather a large amount of explosivesand to blow up the ruins of two Armenian churches nearby. We flattenedboth of them." But of course those were completely different from thisone. Let us listen to what Goksel Gulbey, the president of ASIMDER(The Association Against International Unfounded Armenian Allegations)has to say:"The church that the Armenians are alleging as theirs belongstoPecheneq Turks, Christian Turks. (...) Unfortunately the Armenianshave fabricated a myth, claiming the church to be theirs."The President points also to a very important matter as follows:"This is where in 1915, during the Van massacres, Moslem women fromVan had thrown themselves into Lake Van, in order to escape rape, ,thus saving their honor." No wonder, MHP (Nationalist Movement Party)deputy Prof. Yusuf Halacoglu (former president of the official TurkishHistorical Society) had mentioned this on April 29th in Salihliand had even given the exact number of women involved by saying:"For the 50 Van women for whom we have not even been able to erecta monument of chastity." Incidentally we heard that MHP has a lawproposal for such a monument.I had heard this "saving their honor" in the past in relation to1915, but from a totally different perspective which I cannot remembernow. Anyway, President Gulbey ends his statement by saying: "As Turks,we will be present here for the September 8 religious service. With a three bus-full crowd, we will participate in these servicesand tell our side of the story."An Armenian cannot have slanted eyesThe proofs given by Gulbey are rock solid: "There is a relief on thetop side of the Akdamar [sic] Church depicting a horseman shootingarrows backwards. All historians agree that only Turks shoot arrowsbackwards while riding horses and there is no Armenian with slantedeyes. The horse on the relief also has a crescent above its hoof andon its rump. The use of the crescent as symbol by Turks even beforeIslam is an accepted fact by all historians."I looked at those pictures from books that I found, and on the Eastfacade of the church there is a relief of a hunting scene where theeyes of the rider who is shooting the arrow is looking backwards. Ofcourse the Armenian propaganda machine can misrepresent this saying:"If the archer is not cross eyed, his eyes would naturally slanttowards the back because that is where he is looking. Also the Armenianartist might have shown Central Asian people in a hunt scene."Armenians might also point to the relief on the right and might evensay: "The relief of the archer on the left depicts the Central Asianpeople who are still in the hunter-gatherer phase. Whereas the grapes, lamb and human shown on the right depicts the Armenians which haveachieved the settled agricultural phase of civilization."We must be alertIn addition to this misrepresentation, I want to warn my ASIMDERfriends to the possibility that the Armenian lobby, which is asmalignant as the interest rate lobby, might say: "Pecheneq Turks didnot live on the southern shores of the Black Sea but on its north. .Furthermore if this is a Turkish church, why are all the inscriptionsin the Armenian alphabet? Didn't the Pecheneqs use a Runic alphabeti.e. the Gokturk alphabet?"The shortest answer to this would be: "There is no such thing asan Armenian alphabet. Like the Kurds, Armenians are also Turks;therefore their alphabet is a copy of the Gokturk alphabet." But if,for some reason or other this does not sound convincing we can makethe following claim: "The original inscriptions were written in theRunic alphabet, but in 1915 the so-called Armenians came, they erasedthe originals, and replaced them with their own writings."This latter claim might be even more appropriate because when therecent issue of the demolishment of ancient Armenian houses in Mushhad come to the fore, Irfan Ermis from ASIMDER had said: "There is amonument in the Kurtulus (Independence) Park. (...) We know how theychanged the inscriptions on that monument (...) If you look now onlythe names of the 120 martyred children is written" (The Son NoktaNewspaper, Elazig, August 24, 2013)If the lobby still insists saying "On the Akhtamar church not onlyhas the Armenian alphabet been used but the architectural style ofthe church is also Armenian." Based on the principle that you shouldimitate the smell as the sound(*) we can say: "Just as the Armenianalphabet has been copied from the Gokturk alphabet, the Armenianarchitectural style has been copied from Seljuk architecture. Thedome of the Akhtamar Church is exactly like the dome of the MevlanaShrine in Konya. As a matter of fact, the Turks also brought theirown architects with them on the way from Central Asia." Of coursethe construction dates of those two monuments (921 AD and 1358 AD,respectively) might cause some controversy, but I am sure that ourfriends from ASIMDER will think of a scientific answer to that problem. We are facing hardshipsThe whole world is now scared that Turks are becoming too strong, and this has a bearing down on us. 2015 is also getting close. Ourown state is collaborating with the Azerbaijanis against the Armenians. The Turks should erect a Chastity Monument on the Akhtamar Island onwhich ASIMDER is planning to show up on September 8, so that we canproudly prove to the World that we did not commit genocide againstthe Armenians. However, as it is difficult to refute all arguments one by one, Ipropose an all-encompassing strategy. We should firmly stand behindthe fact that sometime in the past the Armenians came down from Spaceand then returned back to Space in 1915.(*) Translator's Note: This "principle" comes from a Nasreddin Hodjajoke which goes as follows:Nasreddin Hodja, a well-known anonymous figure of Anatolian wisdom, invited somebody to dinner, who, while having dinner, accidentallyfarted, and then made the wooden floor creak to imitate the sound.Upon which the Hodja couldn't help saying: "Now that you havesuccessfully imitated the sound, I wonder how you will imitatethe smell?"Original article in Turkish:**** Edited September 4, 2013 by Arpa
Yervant1
Interfax, RussiaSept 13 2013Azerbaijan may forgive foreigners who illegally visited occupied Azeriland - Foreign MinistryBAKU. Sept 13 (Interfax) -The foreigners who were declared personaenon grata in Azerbaijan for unauthorized visits to the occupiedNagorny Karabakh territory may be removed from the blacklist if theyapologize to Azerbaijan, Azeri Foreign Ministry press officer ElmanAbdullayev told a briefing on Friday."A list of people declared personae non grata in Azerbaijan hasrecently been made. The people on this list have expressed concernsthat they will never be able to visit Azerbaijan again. In thisregard, some of them have contacted the Azeri Foreign Ministry,"Abdullayev said."In their reports, those people said they were deceived when theyvisited Nagorny Karabakh," he said.Students from John Hopkins University have asked to be removed fromthe blacklist, saying they were misled by Armenia, he said."Among the people on the list are Russian State Duma deputy AlexeiMitrofanov, James Brooke, the head of the Voice of America bureau forRussia, and others, including politicians, students, and journalists. The main thing is that they understand that the situation is seriousand are contacting the Azeri authorities," Abdullayev said.Abdullayev said some countries arrest people who violate theirborders, put them on international most wanted persons list, and trythem in a court of law."There were cases when citizens who accidentally violated the borderwere arrested. After the list of personae non grata was made, theAzeri Foreign Ministry started receiving requests for permission tovisit the occupied territories. These people are mainly journalists,"Abdullayev said.Responding to a question from Interfax on the number of people on theblacklist, Abdullayev said there are 335 people on the list, butpeople will be removed from it after their requests are considered.Commenting on the issue of companies investing in the occupied Azeriterritories, Abdullayev reiterated that such companies were created bythe Armenian lobby."It have been proved by the general amount of alleged investment inthese territories by world-famous brands. Karabakh can only develop aspart of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Our Armenian citizens who live inthose territories also understand that very well," he said. MosJan
Nakhijevan: Baku taking up entertaining arithmetichttp://media.pn.am/media/issue/170/128/photo/170128.jpghttp://static.pn.am/images/l_op1_eng.gifSeptember 18, 2013 - 15:32 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Baku, dissatisfied with the calculation of "damages inflicted to Azerbaijan by Armenia," looks to continue the entertaining arithmetic by calculating damages inflicted to Nakhijevan. The works group, led by a doctor of economics, professor Khanhuseyn Kazimli, consists of volunteers which will calculate as they're ordered to.As APA Azeri news agency reported, "the surface contacts between Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic and Azerbaijan have been cut as a result of expansion of Armenian separatism and aggression started from the beginning of the 90s of the last century. Particularly, different provocations committed by the Armenians on the railway line and terrorist acts against civilians caused the complete suspension of this transport. This has resulted in the blockade of Nakhijevan."The damage was calculated at once to amount to "hundreds of millions of manats (AZN) in economic damage." As the website claims, "all economic and cultural damages of the Autonomous Republic caused by the closing of railway and highway over last 20 years, as well as funds allocated from Azerbaijan’s budget for the protection of Nakhijevan should be compensated by Armenia."Sure, no one can forbid Baku to take up entertaining arithmetic. Seems like Azerbaijan has forgotten all of its problems and is now busy calculating damages which resulted from its faulty policies. Yet there's one thing Baku's pseudo-mathematicians are forgetting about: if it comes to calculating damages, it's Armenia who's got to issue bills to Baku for ruined shrines, expulsion of Armenians from Azerbaijan, and Nakhijevan, a historic Armenian land, in particular.Armenian towns of Agulis and Jugha were fully demolished, destroyed were 27000 Armenian churches and a mediaeval Armenian cemetery in Old Jugha, with bulldozers having smashed khachkars. The "work group" must surely be aware of the facts. As for Azeri historians, they continue writing their own history of South Caucasus, generously supported by the government to be turned into a tool of state policy. Azerbaijan's aggressive policy continues to devise new means for an information war against Armenia, resorting to pseudo-historians’ assistance. So who should pay one's dues is another big question. To say nothing of a half a million-strong Armenian community of Azerbaijan, robbed and thrown out of their homes in the best case. Baku would be better off to finally see a beam in its eye, instead of trying to see a speck in another's. And as for Nakhijevan blockade – there's an interrupted flow of petrol- and product-filled trucks bound for the autonomous republic on the road from Iran. Our historical lands areIrevan [Yerevan] and Zangazur regions." The museum is dedicated tothe victims of a 1918 "massacre," which Aliyev claims was committedby Armenians against Azeris. The fact that a country of Azerbaijandid not exist until 1918 seems to escape the Azeri leader. On another note, Aliyev blamed what he called "Armenian fascism"on the international community's reaction to crowning Safarov a hero."I was condemned baselessly and so many foreign dishonest politiciansmade accusations against me, because the Azerbaijani officer,Ramil Safarov, returned [to his] homeland and I gave him freedom,"said Aliyev."Even the European Parliament adopted a resolution on this issue andcondemned my actions. But even today I can say firmly that Azerbaijanhas returned its officer to the homeland, given him freedom andestablished justice. But look at the world press, internationalorganizations, how many groundless accusations they have made againstAzerbaijan," Aliyev said. The Azeri leader went on to stress that all factors, including economicand military ones, indicate that in a matter of time Azerbaijan "willrestore its territorial integrity" and reclaim its "historic lands,"which includes the capital of Armenia, Yerevan."There will come a time when we live on these lands. I am convincedof it," said Aliyev, calling the people of Azerbaijan to action to"bring this sacred day closer."

So expectations were pretty low.Even still, one expects a certain ritual in these sorts ofauthoritarian elections, a fealty to at least the appearance ofdemocracy, if not democracy itself. So it was a bit awkward whenAzerbaijan's election authorities released vote results - a full daybefore voting had even started. The vote counts - spoiler alert: Aliyev was shown as winning by alandslide - were pushed out on an official smartphone app run by theCentral Election Commission. It showed Aliyev as "winning" with 72.76percent of the vote. That's on track with his official vote counts inprevious elections: he won ("won"?) 76.84 percent of the vote in 2003and 87 percent in 2008.The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission sent out these vote totalsto its official smartphone app before voting started. (meydan.tv)In second place was opposition candidate Jamil Hasanli with 7.4percent of the vote. Hasanli had recently appealed to the CentralElection Commission for paid airtime on state TV, arguing that Aliyevgets heavy airtime and the opposition does not. He was denied. The data were quickly recalled. The official story is that the app'sdeveloper had mistakenly sent out the 2008 election results as part ofa test. But that's a bit flimsy, given that the released totals showthe candidates from this week, not from 2008.You might call this a sort of Kinsley gaffe on a national scale. (AKinsley gaffe, named for journalist Michael Kinsley, is when apolitician gets in trouble for saying something that's widely known astrue but that he isn't supposed to say.) There's supposed to be acertain ritual to an election like Azerbaijan's: demonstrations areput down, reporters are harassed, opposition candidates are whittleddown, supporters are ushered to the polls and then Aliyev's sweepingvictory is announced. They got the order wrong here.As of this writing, Azerbaijan's election authorities say they'vecounted 80 percent of the ballots, with Aliyev winning just under 85percent of the vote so far. He's been officially reelected.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/10/09/oops-azerbaijan-released-election-results-before-voting-had-even-started/
Yervant1
19:16 17/10/2013 » Society Hurriyet: Park after Heydar Aliyev in Ankara is turned into a garbage dumpThe park after Heydar Aliyev, founded 7 years ago in Ankara, has turned into a garbage dump, according to Azerbaijani news portal "Haqqin.az" writes the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.According to information, the entire forest belt, consisting of 81 thousands of trees is left off-hand."Previously, there were a lot of people here walking around. Families were having rest here. But then they stopped taking care of the park and it turned into a landfill. Moreover, many alcoholics and drug addicts gather here at nights; they even caused a fire last week," complain the locals.Commenting on the situation, the representatives of the Beyuksheher municipality on the territory of which the park is located say that this park does not exist according to the documents, and they cannot do anything about it.In Azerbaijan, the personality cult of Heydar Aliyev was shaped during his lifetime, this process continued after his death. Streets, parks and various places (including the airport in Baku and refineries) were named in honor of the former president. The Azerbaijani textbooks present Heydar Aliyev as a "great leader" and the savior of Azerbaijan.Source: Panorama.am

Yervant1
Baku in uproar: Azeri volleyball team uniform features Armenian Tricolorhttp://media.pn.am/media/issue/172/168/photo/172168.jpgNovember 4, 2013 - 14:59 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Azeryol Champions League women’s volleyball team caused a major stir among Azeri fans, according to Sport.1news.az.According to the website, the Azeri team’s new uniform features the Armenian Tricolor.“We wonder whose “brilliant” idea it was? If the uniform was offered by a foreign company, why did Azeryol approve it? Why would they use this very same succession of colors rather than the colors of Azerbaijani flag?” the website questions. The national flag of Armenia, the Armenian Tricolor consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange (also described as "colour of apricot") on the bottom. The official definition of the colors, as stated in the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, is: “The Red emblematizes the Armenian Highland, the Armenian people's continued struggle for survival, maintenance of the Christian faith, Armenia's independence and freedom. The Blue emblematizes the will of the people of Armenia to live beneath peaceful skies. The Orange emblematizes the creative talent and hard-working nature of the people of Armenia.”

How will they write wan when there is no W in their alphabet. In another news brief it becomes suspect that the person is Kurdish and wants to reintroduce Kurdish pronunciations .of banned sounds like W Q and X (KH.). “[The change] will also ensure the name’s phonetic pronunciation is correctly made,” she added. The ban on the letters “q, x and w,” which are all used in the Kurdish alphabet but forbidden in official documents, was lifted by the government’s "democratization package" announced on Sept. 30. Another view from Yerakuyn. I cannot fin d the English. Among the ridiculous suggestion is. Change Agti to Agir. Yervant1
Man this is funny!!!!!! 18:26 06/12/2013 » SOCIETYAzerbaijani researcher claims that Nostradamus predicted Heydar Aliyev’s coming to powerEven if Nostradamus didn’t arrive to Azerbaijan, he still could see what would happen in Azerbaijani Gazakh region and Baku city, Azerbaijani scientist Ghazanfar *****ev, who for 10 years carefully studied the life and work of the famous French astrologer Nostradamus, stated in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency "Anspress."In 2007 *****yev published a book called "World of Wonders", which tells about Nostradamus and his predictions.According to the scientist, the book also contains predictions of Nostradamus about Azerbaijan."There will come a time when in an Eastern country a person will come to power who will save the country from destruction and will pass the power to his son. I studied for a long time and came to the conclusion that he meant Heydar Aliyev and his son Ilham Aliyev," says the Azerbaijani scientist. The book also notes that in 2015 Russia will become a great State, but only at the price of blood. Yervant1
19:28 20/12/2013 » SOCIETYTatyana Sharbina: Armenians cooked Tolma when there was no such country as Azerbaijan“And here I am, its 2010 and I’m for the first time in Baku, Azerbaijan. Intellectuals of Azerbaijan, all Azerbaijanis have gathered around a big table. During the last twenty years Baku ceased to be a cosmopolitan city,” writes Russian journalist Tatyana Sharbina in the article published in “Moscow News” newspaper’s website. The author notes that as she was a guest in Baku they started to ask her questions. The first question was about what she thinks about the Armenians. “In Moscow, before leaving I was warned not to utter a single word about Armenia and I didn’t intend either,” states Sharbina adding that her answer to the question was “nothing” to be able to get away from the topic, especially when she treats different people in different ways, including the Armenians. However, as the author notes, her answer only provoked a wave of tension. “So, you are on Armenians side?” “No, I don’t belong to any of the sides. I’m Russian, Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is far from me,” answered the journalist. After that, the Azerbaijanis started to tell their guest eagerly “what kind of things they (the Armenians, ed.) did.” The journalist noted that she also knew about the massacres of the Armenians in Sumgait and suggested to change the topic. However, the answer from Azerbaijani side was the following; “They (the Armenians, ed.) washed your brains. They captured the whole Russian television”. Sharbina replied, she doesn’t watch TV, after which she was told that “Armenia is Western Azerbaijan, and the Soviet Union created Armenia in order to destroy Azerbaijan.”“I clearly realized that if I started speaking about the ancient history of Armenia, they would assume that I was an Armenian spy. I didn’t want that to happen as I had to stay in Azerbaijan a few more days. I replied quite sharply that I didn’t want to speak about Armenia and started to praise food; tolma, dyushbara, kutaby, pilaf with dried fruit and eat with sheer appetite,” adds Sharbina.“Did you know that the Armenians stole our Tolma? And its name as well, which is outrageous!” the Azerbaijanis declared. The journalist answered that she didn’t know because she hadn’t been to Armenia.“I hardly kept myself from saying that the Armenians started to cook Tolma from the times when there was no such country as Azerbaijan. However, we came to the dessert, to Baklava observing that “it is a native Azerbaijani dish and should be declared such, as the Armenians messed it up as well.” I burst out telling them that baklava (which I am fond of) is known from the 8th century,” writes the author.Tatyana Sharbina also stated, “Pie with chopped nuts and sugar impregnation was firstly cooked by the chef of Sultan in Minor Asia (Turkey didn’t exist at that time and I’m not even speaking about Azerbaijan) and thin sheets soaked in honey were first made by the Greeks. Baklava is a Greek dish! One historian in Turkey told me that Ancient Greece is a myth and in the reality it was Turkey. I, being an ancient Greek nationalist, got angry.”As it is stated in the article, nowadays the ethnic/confessional identity is exaggerated and artificially enriched, while professional civic and intellectual identity is emasculated. “Everyone has a reason to hate, defend or attack. I’m not ready to condemn anyone until my personal identity is not hurt, which first of all gets hurt by the hatred and insidious lie,” Sharbina concludes.
