Piece of Noah's Ark Gifted to Catholicos Aram I

15:24, August 3, 2011

The Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Cilicia reports that Catholicos Aram I was recently presented with a piece of Noah’s Ark.

The press release says that the artifact was gifted to Catholicos Aram I by Italian explorer Tito de Luca who scaled Mt. Ararat one year ago. It will be placed in the Holy See’s museum.

Occhey ay-a spik-a Italian-a . Vere-a did-a that-a Italian-a Tito de Luca find-a that-a piss-a of wood-a? At-a the trash-a dumpster-a of-a Home-a Depo-a?

And now our crack craftsmen at Antelias will use the lumber to build a luxury yacht for HH Aram I.

YEREVAN.- Armenian clergyman called on followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church to create online groups to spread information about the Church instead of playing stupid online games.

Commenting on sects’ agitation on the Internet, Father Shmavon Gevondyan said Internet users should create groups on various websites, forums to invite more people.

“The Armenian Apostolic Church has many websites, some members of the clergy also have accounts in social networking websites trying to struggle the sects. However, Internet is a huge area, universe. Whatever you say, sects prepare two answers in return,” he told journalists.

“Nowadays church needs your help, help us,” he called on the followers of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Do they mean our youth should get off their butt, come to church for this, where we have better “online games“?

What is so hard to understand about the Armenian Church and it's teachings? Monday-Friday afternoon the church doors are closed. But fortunately the hall doors are open so you go in, hand 2-3 dollars to the man standing by the door he gives you a piece of paper and you go and sit there and when you have heard 5 of your numbers called in a horizontal or vertical row, you yell BINGO and get some money. If anyone else calls BINGO before you, you have to give more money. This goes on until Friday afternoon when the church for the first time in a week opens it's main doors because it is time to make big bucks for the next day and a half. Families take their children to get christened and seem to pay for each step they make inside the church. And young couples go to get their marriage recognized by the church. Sunday morning is when the elderly go and give some more money to the church because you have to give money else the priests can't communicates your prayers and wishes to God. Couple more weddings later on that day and the weeks is over so we start all Over.

Bingo. I win.

Saudi king intervenes to change law that made women buy lingerie from male salesmen due to ban on female clerks

Posted by Marisol on June 15, 2011 12:09 AM

Sometimes there's "creeping Sharia." More often than not, though, it's just plain creepy Sharia, and this case certainly falls in the latter category. The unintended consequence of the complete ban on female sales clerks, issued to uphold Sharia's segregation of the sexes, actually led to a situation where women had to deal with unrelated men on a rather private matter. The original story for Time, in all its awkward glory, can be found [1] here.

An update on [2] this story. "Saudi Arabian lingerie law ends," by Richard Spencer for the [3] Telegraph, June 14:

Rules against "mingling" of the sexes at work in the kingdom, whose laws are based on a strict interpretation of Muslim Sharia, mean that most shops have male assistants only.

Until now that included lingerie shops, leading to complaints that assistants who tried to be helpful often tried to guess customers' bra sizes by staring hard at their abayas, the long all-enveloping gowns worn by Saudi women in public.

... which would have eventually given rise to a Saudi bra brand, "Just Ain't My Size."

A group of professional women set up a Facebook campaign, "Enough Embarrassment" two years ago demanding a change to the practice and winning international attention. They pointed out that Labour Ministry guidelines had already demanded a shift to women-only lingerie stores in 2005, without result.

Fatwas by senior clerics against women serving on supermarket tills, a novelty attempted by one chain, did not help, despite campaigners pointing out that there was little difference between a man serving women customers and women serving male customers.

King Abdullah, who has pledged to broaden access to education and jobs for women in Saudi Arabia since coming to the throne in 2005, said from now on some jobs would be reserved for women only – including working in lingeries shops.

"From now, embarrassment will end," one of the campaigners, Fatima Garub, said. "We thank the king. He felt our problem."

Reem Asaad, a professor of finance in Jeddah who began the campaign for women assistants in 2008, said the new measures were part of an important drive to improve employment prospects for young Saudis. Many shop assistants are from abroad.

She added she had now officially ended her boycott of lingerie shops. “I have just bought my first bra in four years,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“And it was a woman who served me.”

Those mullahs whose “flags” protrude between their legs should be surgically reconstructed/and radically (their word as in radically Islam) recircumcized.

An Iranian actress who appeared in an Australian film critical of the Iranian authorities has been sentenced to a year in prison and size=6]ninety lashes[/size].

Opposition websites say the actress, Marzieh Vafamehr, was sentenced on Saturday, but the charges against her haven't been made public.

She was arrested in July over her part in the film, My Tehran for Sale, which explores limits on freedom of expression for artists in Iran.

Vafamehr appears with a shaved head and no head scarf in the film which also looks at drug use.

Shot in 1998, My Tehran for Sale, was secretly filmed inside Iran.

Azeris start construction of defensive wall on Contact Line (photos)

The Azerbaijanis have started the construction of a defensive wall across the Line of Contact with N*g**no K****kh.

Active construction is now going on in the regions of Aghdam, Terter and Geranbo.

ANS Press had earlier reported that the wall expected to shield the population of border regions from alleged gunshots by the enemy will be 3m high and 2,700m long.

The Azerbaijani news website Vesti.az has published photos featuring the construction work.

Azerbaijan builds wall of propaganda, says Armenian expert

The wall that Azerbaijan is reportedly building on the line of contact with Karabakh is for propaganda purposes, Armenian political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan has said.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he said with that move Azerbaijan is attempting to send a message to the world that the wall is meant to protect its civilians from barbers.

“It is highly probable that they will build the wall and attempt to draw parallels with the Chinese Wall,” said Melik-Shahnazaryan.

“What is the reason that in civilized world one state builds a wall? Azerbaijan wants to demonstrate to the world that it is protecting itself from barbarians, that Armenia is aggressor, a state that opens fire at its civilians,” explained he.

It comes after media reports that the Azerbaijani authorities are building a 3-meter-high defensive wall across the line of contact.

Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan further said that should Armenia not take relevant preemptive steps at the media level, Azerbaijan may succeed in presenting Armenia as an aggressor in front of the international community.

“We can call that wall a propaganda wall,” said he, adding that the Armenian side should actively be involved in international organizations in an attempt to inform it about what is happening on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Wearing Emporio Armani considered Armenian propaganda in Turkey, and is punishable by law

October 17, 2011 | 11:41

ISTANBUL. – Turkish press widely covered Taraf daily’s columnist Roni Margulies’ funny story about three unlucky Turks, who were found guilty of wearing Emporio Armani t-shirts and thus carrying out Armenian propaganda.

In his article, Margulies presents the three Turks’ self-defending speeches made in the court. “…a merchant asked me why I’m wearing that t-shirt and called the police…I don’t think I was making propaganda,” said the first defendant.

The second defendant noted that he already gave testimony to the gendarmerie, insisting: “I didn’t have ulterior motives…That t-shirt is a very well-known Italian brand…I don’t find myself guilty.”

The third defendant likewise did not find himself to be guilty, underscoring that the t-shirt was a gift from his mother, since it is a famous Italian brand.

The article also notes that the three translators, who had come as a result of a public announcement by Town Hall of Avsha Island, where this incident occurred, confirmed that Emporio Armani means “Armenian Empire,” and subsequently the defendants were sentenced to life in prison.

Roni Margulies also wrote this story might sound improbable, but stated that, aside from the court ruling, rest of the story is completely true.

That play by Baronian is the latest craze, playing all the way from the Baronian Theater in Yerevan and many other Armenian communities around the world.

Does anyone have access to its text? I don’t, neither can I find it on the net.

I understand that it is full of gender-sexist innuendoes. Is it like “Baron Pilikian" or "Tikin Tsitsikian"? :P :D

NKR OFFICIAL LABELS AZERBAIJAN'S 'PROTECTIVE WALL' AS 'GREAT WALL OF ILHAM'

PanARMENIAN.Net

October 21, 2011 - 09:24 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the Nagorno Karabakh standing

parliamentary committee on external relations has labeled the

'protective wall' Azerbaijan is building at the Karabakh border as

'Great Wall of Ilham'.

"This construction is another propaganda move by Baku and should not

be taken seriously," Vahram Atanesyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"What is the meaning of this wall? Let's have a real look. If we

wanted we could easily hamper the construction of the wall allegedly

meant to protect civilians. If Armenians wanted to kill civilians

they would have shot dead the builders," Atanesyan said.

Asked whether the wall can change the balance of forces at the

contact line, he said: "This wall will not safeguard Azerbaijanis from

retaliatory measures we will take in case of ceasefire violations. The

NKR army possesses equipment capable to destroy any construction."

Azerbaijan is constructing a 'protective wall' at the line of

contact with NKR. According to Azeri media, a wall, 700 meters long

and 3 meters tall, was already built near the village of Chyragly,

bordering with Martakert province.

Azerbaijan has been considering construction of a wall "to protect

itself from Armenian snipers" since 2006

AZERBAIJAN WAITING FOR ARMENIA TO GO BANKRUPT: DE WAAL

epress.am

11.18.2011

The possibility of renewed hostilities between Azerbaijan and

Nagorno-Karabakh is very small, Thomas de Waal, an expert on the

South Caucasus and senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment

for International Peace in Washington, said in an interview with

ArmRADIO-FM107.

"In July of this year, I travelled to Baku, and their reaction after

Kazan was that they don't want war and they're spending money on

weapons not to fight but to force Armenia to join the arms race and

go bankrupt. I think that Azerbaijan is living an illusion," he said,

reports Russian-language news agency Regnum.

According to the analyst, regardless of financial means, Armenia won't

make unilateral concessions. "If you go back 10-15 years ago, Armenia

and Azerbaijan were equal. Now Azerbaijan is clearly a richer and

stronger country. However, can this be linked with the Karabakh issue?

No, I don't think so, because even if Armenia is poorer and weaker,

it will do everything in its power to protect Karabakh. And although

I don't think Armenia has very good social and economic prospects,

I also don't think that Armenia will be forced to cede Karabakh."

Here they are, those witches; :saddam:

The Perso-Arabic word for witch is سحر sahhar . I had never given a thought about the furkish insult “solakh sakhar” Ah! Now I can see that it means “left handed witch”.

http://news.yahoo.com/saudi-arabia-executes-woman-convicted-sorcery-132159048.html

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi authorities have executed a woman convicted of practicing magic and sorcery.

The Saudi Interior Ministry says in a statement the execution took place Monday, but gave no details on the woman's crime.

The London-based al-Hayat daily, however, quoted Abdullah al-Mohsen, chief of the religious police who arrested the woman, as saying she had tricked people into thinking she could treat illnesses, charging them $800 per session.

The paper said a female investigator followed up, and the woman was arrested in April, 2009, and later convicted in a Saudi court.

It did not give the woman's name, but said she was in her 60s.

The execution brings the total to 76 this year in Saudi Arabia, according to an Associated Press count. At least three have been women.

The Salem Trials;

http://www.google.com/search?q=salem+witch+hunt&hl=en&rlz=1W1RNTN_en&prmd=imvnsb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ZkDmTuGaGvC40gG71aH3BQ&sqi=2&ved=0CE0QsAQ&biw=788&bih=337

In Salem Village in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, Sarah Goode, Sarah Osborne, and Tituba, an Indian slave from Barbados, are charged with the illegal practice of witchcraft. Later that day, Tituba, possibly under coercion, confessed to the crime, encouraging the authorities to seek out more Salem witches.

Trouble in the small Puritan community began the month before, when nine-year-old Elizabeth Parris and 11-year-old Abigail Williams, the daughter and niece, respectively, of the Reverend Samuel Parris, began experiencing fits and other mysterious maladies. A doctor concluded that the children were suffering from the effects of witchcraft, and the young girls corroborated the doctor's diagnosis. With encouragement from a number of adults in the community, the girls, who were soon joined by other "afflicted" Salem residents, accused a widening circle of local residents of witchcraft, mostly middle-aged women but also several men and even one four-year-old child. During the next few months, the afflicted area residents incriminated more than 150 women and men from Salem Village and the surrounding areas of Satanic practices.

In June 1692, the special Court of Oyer, "to hear," and Terminer, "to decide," convened in Salem under Chief Justice William Stoughton to judge the accused. The first to be tried was Bridget Bishop of Salem, who was found guilty and executed by hanging on June 10. Thirteen more women and four men from all stations of life followed her to the gallows, and one man, Giles Corey, was executed by crushing. Most of those tried were condemned on the basis of the witnesses' behavior during the actual proceedings, characterized by fits and hallucinations that were argued to be caused by the defendants on trial.

In October 1692, Governor William Phipps of Massachusetts ordered the Court of Oyer and Terminer dissolved and replaced with the Superior Court of Judicature, which forbade the type of sensational testimony allowed in the earlier trials. Executions ceased, and the Superior Court eventually released all those awaiting trial and pardoned those sentenced to death. The Salem witch trials, which resulted in the executions of 19 innocent women and men, had effectively ended.
