They can post whatever they want, but they should briefly state that is it graphic and what to expect, so that next time people who are not interested seeing such images, will ignore that video. As much as it sucks what happened to that guy, he shouldn't have been there looting and throwing bottles at the police at 5am in the morning in the first place. Normal people are in their beds asleep at that time, not vandalizing the city and trying to attempt a coup d'etat with few hundred hooligans outside that late. I want to say that I feel sorry for him, but I don't really feel sorry for him, since he should have thought about his own actions twice before running around in the city at 5am, while there's police and military there. His face is his own fault and this is why I can not say that I feel any kind of sympathy for him. Only the image that shocked me, since I do not see these types of images every day. Because I do not feel like having my day ruined again, please put a short description of the graphic videos you guys post here, so that at least I won't watch it...I have no interest in seeing blood or peoples faces ripped off. Forgot to mention: Is there a proof that it's actually the police/military who did that? I mean with all the chaos at night and people throwing things right and left, some of the citizens even shooting at the police, he could have been hurt accidentaly by one of his sides, since it was dark and many of them were high on drugs. I am simply saying that it isn't 100% for sure that the bullet came from the other side and not by one of the vandalizers who thought he was shooting at the police. So let's not jump conclusions! Ashot Posted March 14, 2008 Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 After viewing the video approximately 10 times, I can say it is clear enough that the shot was from left side under the chin, pointing upwards... he could be trying to dodge or should I say, when the shots were fired he was trying to throw himself towards right, causing his head to be tilted a bit to right... the bullet went from under the chin, left side of the face and came out from the cheek on the right side, causing such a bigh hole on the cheek. Obviously the bullet shot with was not a 9mm, was something bigger... Good luck to the guy, may god help him recover fast, than God there is plastic surgery nowadays, may he have enough money to do so!!! He recently published a very interesting article about what LTP was trying to do by going to the Constitutional Court. This is a different article though. Hopefully, I'll write soon in detail on some of your questions. But I have been criticising this government and predicting such an outcome for all recent years. And, by the way, where was LTP all this time and why didn't he raise his voice against any injustice during long 10 years?! You may find attached just one of my pieces, where all the major causes of the current crisis are clearly identified and deplored. I've been warning about the imminent breakup of the seeming stability again and again in my books, articles and interviews published in Armenian, Russian and English for the last decade. Moreover, they've been read by some of the highest representatives of the current establishment. I had a couple of chances to even personally discuss with some of them the criticality of the situation. They did not agree that the situation is as bad as I depict it and were disturbed and irritated. All of my efforts to bring them back to reality have just resulted not only in my further isolation from the centers of decision-making, but also their attempts to silence and marginalize me. Though they've not succeeded in the latter, I'm extremely frustrated that all my work was almost in vain. On February 19 Armenia has entered into a completely new and unfavorable phase: the day "X" I was talking in my "Strategic Gaps" has already arrived. However, LTP and his team did not come "to right the wrong", but just to exacerbate the things to the edge. I'm a first-hand eyewitness of the events. The major clashes happened just 100 meters from my home and I've been hearing and watching everything from the beginning to the end. That day L. Ter-Petrosyan and his team brought Armenia to the very brink of DISASTER. No one can prove to me that it was the police who instigated the clashes. It was not just a coup attempt, it was a cold-blooded attempt by LTP & Co. to instigate a civil war!! LTP and his team are an immediate and overwhelming national security threat!! Please look on the bigger picture, look on the world powers waging Cold War IN ARMENIA, look on the map again and follow the news about the Azerbaijan's movements and all the preparations to start a war. What if Aliyev starts it now? What would we have -- a divided Armenia, a divided Diaspora! Who has pushed the things so far? Of, course, the government has to be blamed for all the corruption and its woeful methods and low level of governance. But LTP has clearly and cold-bloodedly targeted the national unity of the Armenians! He clearly and cold-bloodedly played on the hayastantzi-gharabaghtzi artificial divide! He and his team clearly and cold-bloodedly instigated the mob to fire and throw grenades on the Armenian soldiers. My street was under occupation of "the revolutionaries" for about 7 hours. They were shouting at us: "come down, join us -- this is an uprising!" (My daughter was frightened a lot. She still does not sleep well.) They were calling the Armenian soldiers to join them and fire on the other Armenian soldiers. Now who can tell me about the facts better?! Do you understand what was under stake?! And what if just one batallion, or even a platoon joined this uprising?? We would have ended up in a real bloody civil war with the hundreds killed and mutilated and perhaps Artsakh and Syunik overrun by the enemy! What was LTP's sick brain thinking at that time?? I do not need neither to watch the Armenian TV for official version, nor to read and listen about the ridiculous false versions now being circulated in the web by the LTP supporters. Please remember that Armenia is your only Homeland, irrespective of the government. Please do not alienate neither yourselves, nor the diasporans from the homeland. Do not alienate yourselves from the other Armenians. After reading my article, my dear friend from Canada has labeled me "a traitor of the nation"! Doesn't this remind you good old 1937? Just one result of the LTP's comeback into the big politics with his neobolshevik ideas "who is not with us, is against us"! But we are a small endangered nation with an endangered HOMELAND! The situation is extremely difficult and there is no easy way out of it. The solution that is most often being offered -- the resignation of Serj Sargsyan and the new elections is not a solution. We simply cannot afford months and years of additional turmoil. More on all of this later... Just click on Sargsyan's face to see the coverage. I think they didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but they had to cover it at some point, since it was a big event worldwide, so they ended up waiting for 2 weeks to see what happens before they mention about the events. Andranik Migranyan, who speaks about what took place, is a famous Russian (although born and raised in Armenia) political scientist who is a frequent guest at various television political debates in Russia and he's also famous political commentator on the evening news. He teaches at the prestigious MGIMO (School of International Relations...equivalent to Harvard in USA) in Moscow as a political science professor. Just some info about him for anyone who does not know who he is. For those of you who do not speak Russian, Andranik Migranyan stated that the actions of LTP were more of an attempt to create a revolution in Armenia. March 14th 08, when the news media in Armenia was declared free to diffuse, so long as lies and innuendos are not used for subversion ... If freedom is the diffusion of false information arousing hate and divisions...what do you suggest authorities to do? I am not disputing the bloggers right to express opinions, however if such bloggers aim to create insults and havoc, our moderators here have the right to say... (enough is enough against some unwanted characters) in this forum, by senctioning and deleting unwanted comments! What do you suggest a government should do in reaction to a confrontational/propaganda type diffusion of subversion? Awaiting your views alpha! I can comment on pointing to the fact that there is no freedom of press. That was a charade by the authorities to create an impression for the international community. Թերթերը չեն տպագրվել, մեղմացումներ չկան Մարտ 14, 2008 - 10:12 www.hra.am Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի մարտի 13-ի հրամանագրով փոփոխություններ են կատարվել արտակարգ դրություն հայտարարելու մասին մարտի 1-ի իր հրամանագրում, որոնք վերաբերում են լրատվամիջոցների գործունեության սահմանափակումներին: Փոխվել է մարտի 1-ի հրամանագրի 4-րդ կետի 4-րդ ենթակետը` ?զանգվածային լրատվության միջոցների կողմից պետական եւ ներքաղաքական հարցերի առնչությամբ հրապարակումները կարող են իրականացվել բացառապես պետական մարմինների պաշտոնական տեղեկատվության սահմաններում?, շարադրվում է հետեւյալ խմբագրությամբ` ?արգելվում է զանգվածային լրատվության միջոցների կողմից պետական եւ ներքաղաքական հարցերի առնչությամբ ակնհայտ սուտ կամ իրավիճակը ապակայունացնող տեղեկատվություն կամ առանց իրազեկման (ապօրինի) միջոցառումների մասնակցության կոչեր, ինչպես նաեւ նման տեղեկատվություն կամ կոչեր որեւէ այլ եղանակով եւ ձեւով հրապարակելը կամ տարածելը?: Իրականում սակայն ոչ մի բան էլ չի փոխվել, իրականացել է նախօրեին հնչած մեր մտավախությունը, մարտի 1-ից չհրատարակվող թերթերը լույս չեն տեսել նաեւ մարտի 14-ին։ Իսկ թե ինչու, պարզաբանում են թերթերի խմբագիրները։ ԱՐՄԻՆԵ ՕՀԱՆՅԱՆ` ?ՀՐԱՊԱՐԱԿ??թերթի գլխավոր խմբագիր–Մարտի 13-ին մենք աշխատել ենք, ամփոփել են 15 օրվա իրադարձությունները, գիշերվա 2-ին թերթը տարել են տպարան, ուր նստած էր Ազգային անվտանգության ծառայության աշխատակիցը, որը առանց որեւէ պատճառաբանության ասել է, որ թերթը չի տպվելու։ Թերթը տպել արգելելու վերաբերյալ պատճառաբանություն ներկայացնելու մեր առաջարկին ի պատասխան ասաց, թե պատճառներ չի ներկայացնում։ Այսպես մերժել են բոլոր թերթերին։ Տպագրվել են այն թերթերը, որ մարտի 1-ից հետո էլ էին տպագրվում։ Այնպես որ մամուլի ազատության սահմանափակումները չեն մեղմացել, դրանք ընդամենը ֆորմալ քայլ էին, Արեւմուտքին ցույց տալու համար, որ իշխանությունները զիջումների են գնում, բայց իրականում ներքին կարգով պահեցին նախկին վիճակը։ Ու հայտնի չէ, թե չորս օրից հետո, երբ արտակարգ դրությունը վերացած լինի, հնարավոր լինելո՞ւ է տպագրվել, թե իշխանությանը այս վիճակը այնքան դուր կգա, որ կշարունակեն նույն գրաքննությունը այլ մեթոդներով կիրառել։ ԱՐԱՄ ԱԲՐԱՀԱՄՅԱՆ ?ԱՌԱՎՈՏ??օրաթերթի գլխավոր խմբագիր-Երեկ մենք աշխատել ենք, թերթը պատրաստել, տարել տպարան։ Տպարանում նստած էր Ազգային անվտանգության ծառայության գրաքննիչը, ով թույլ է տալիս, կամ արգելում է տպագրությունը։ Տարան մեր թերթի 4-րդ, 5–րդ, 6-րդ, 7-րդ էջերը, ուր Լեւոն Տեր–Պետրոսյանի բաց թողնված ասուլիսներն էին։ ԿԳԲ–ի գրաքննիչը ասաց, որ այդ ասուլիսներում պարունակվում է ակնհայտ սուտ տեղեկատվություն, ինչը հակասում է նախագահի հրամանագրին, եւ թերթը չի կարող տպվել եւ արգելեց թերթի տպագրությունը։ Նրանք միջազգային հանրության աչքին թոզ փչելու համար հայտարարեցին, թե մեղմացումներ են արել, բայց ոչ մի բան էլ չեմ մեղմացրել։ ?ՀԱՅԿԱԿԱՆ ԺԱՄԱՆԱԿ??օրաթերթի գործող խմբագիր?ՀԱՅԿ ԳԵՎՈՐԳՅԱՆՆ?էլ ասաց, որ երեկոյան թերթը սովորականի պես տարել են տպարան ու էլի հանդիպել Ազգային անվտանգության ծառայության աշխատակցի, ով կարդացել է նյութերը, հեռախոսով ինչ–որ մեկի հետ զրուցել եւ ասել, որ ?Հայկական ժամանակը? չի տպագրվելու։ Հայկ Գեւորգյանը եւս կարծում է, որ մամուլի ազատության սահմանափակումների մեղմացումները ?մեղմացումներ չէին, այլ միջազգային հանրության աչքին թոզ փչել, մեր իշխանությունները հստակ ցանկ ունեն, թե որ թերթերը չեն տպագրելու?։ Հայտարարված մեմղացումներից հետո չեն գարծում նաեւ էլեկտրոնային թերթերը։??ԼՐԱԳԻՐ??էլեկտրոնային թերթի խմբագիր?ՀԱՅԿԱԶՆ ՂԱՀՐԻՅԱՆԸ?ասաց, թե ինչպես մարտի մեկին, այնպես էլ այսօր, իրենց չաշխատելու պատճառը խմբագրությունը չէ, այլ նրանք, ովքեր անջատել են թերթը։ Հայկազն Ղահրիյանի կարծիքով, եթե իշխանությունները թույլ չեն տալիս թերթերին աշխատել, նշանակում է, որ սահմանափակումներիր ոչ մի մեղմացում էլ չի եղել. Isn't it obvious the use of the term KGB above...- high lighted by me-...is made to paint present day authorities as soviet rule? The security of a state has to have operators. Don't USA, Canada, or Britain etc. have CIA, CSIS and MI5? Mossad??? Is, "all means are fair to achieve an end"... acceptable to you? How about during wars and revolutions? If yes,... then you are accusing the government using the same tactics! FREEDOM IS NOT= FREE FOR ALL ANARCHY! Don't cross the boundaries of debate and be a little bit courteous, if you have any courtesy. If you don't then I feel bad for wasting my time. If you don't know the Armenian reality allow me to shed some light into what KGB means. In Armenia since Soviet times Ka-Ge-Be, is a common term used in Yerevan, referring to the security services. There is a term called, Ka-Ge-Bei padval, Ka-Ge-beishik, which all have the same root. Aram Abrahamyan, one of the most respected journalists in Armenia definately was not referring to Soviet past, whatsoever. Government has no right to restrict free speach. The state serves people's interests, not the opposite. Government is not elected so it can restrict people's fundamental right to free speach and expression. If you do find any parrot like echoeing.... please call me a PARROT! However if you felt my barb discourteous that's your prerogative. I am very much aware of KGB and it's ILK and.... all types of popular descriptions... However a prominent journalist using the metaphore is nothing but provocative rabble rousing attempt in peoples perception! It falls in the subtle brain washing realm of multi media diffusion. Today, we all should look into the mirror and ask ourselves, “would I want Armenian people, the society as a whole be like me? Do I represent the kind of person who I would like to see as our president and the rest of the country’s administration?” Up to this point, I believe we have established that despite our political orientations, our collective wish is one, to have a stable and secure, fair and just, democratic country which offers liberty and freedom to all of its citizens. Now look in the mirror again and ask yourself, “By my actions, by my life, by my being, am I contributing to or working against that goal?” What kind of influence do you have on the people of your immediate circle? What kind of person are you seen by people? Are you just? Are you corrupt? Do you promote freedom of expression? Before you demand anything from your president or whoever is up there, demand those things from you. You want elimination of corruption. How many times have you paid or encouraged/approved someone who has paid his boss to get promotions in his government job? You want fairness. How many times have you paid or are you willing to pay the professor a couple of bucks to have your child get that extra grade which he/she didn’t get? You want freedom to speak your mind. You want to have an equal say in society. How many times have you shunned your wife or daughter just because they are women or your children just because they are “too young to have any say and have to listen to you”? You want justice. But how do you raise your children? Do you praise them for bullying around the neighborhood? “papayi tghen a, eee…” Or do you discourage them from doing so? How many times have you fought with your neighbor because he/she said a thing or two to your kid for misbehaving? “ara, inq@ im erexen a u lav a arel inchvor arel a… apres bales… myus angam ktas drants shusheq@ kjardes… yes drants tiroj mer@...” How many times have you forged a document, nothing big, just a small piece of paper to register that extra couple of yards of public land in from of your apartment to your name? When you were fencing your yard and were short on material, how much metal did steal from the neighborhood kindergarten’s or “katselni’s” fencing to finish off your project? However, one doesn't have the right to print lies. That's true in most countries - disinformation and libel are legally punishable here in the States, both as a tort and, in some states, as a criminal offense. And the famous saying goes, "freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to yell fire in a crowded theater." In an emergency situation - as much as future generations deplore it, and believe me I do - governments have historically acted to protect the continuation of the nation as a whole. The problem comes when any actions taken for that protection become continuous and permanent, rather than temporary. Lincoln suspended habeus corpus rights in certain areas during the Civil War, and yet he is known as the Great Emancipator and one of the greatest leaders in the history of the world. That doesn't mean, however, that we no longer have habeus corpus rights in our nation, nor does it mean that any subsequent president has been able to do away with it - in fact, quite the opposite, which is why Lincoln is the example I used. There were some media forms that were very openly calling for rebellion and revolution - both crimes. There were individuals openly calling for rebellion and revolution - both crimes. While the journalists have the right - and the duty - to always print the truth, and the government shouldn't have taken that away, the fact that LTP has a flexible understanding of the truth could easily lead to some concern among the government, and I can see how they would have preferred to err on the side of caution.
