I don't know why you are so proud that your language skills are inferior to his. I'm sure it's not true - do you not know words or expressions like 'klizma anel', 'akanjner qashel', 'moskaneri hachoc', 'paroghi dzver' and other timeless contributions that Kocharian has introduced into the everyday Armenian culture.

How do you know that SS is not the illegitimate president? Do you think he really got elected? And yes, I have lived in Armenia through the war years and lost friends in the war so don't lecture me on those years. Besides, these are long gone days. I can tell you this though, LTP was a much more impressive politician than RK in person. RK couldn't even put two words together when I met him.

He is not part of the avazakapetutyoun so it's out of question for him to join the new government. After all, his party is the only opposition in the parliament. Anyone who does join will be tarnished. Why would you want to be part of the executive branch with an illegitimate president? Whatever the composition of the government, it will be short lived. I don't think they have enough resources to keep the country clamped down for too long. A basic thing - to keep all these police on the streets every day to prevent people from saying the 'wrong' things takes money (the most obvious is the gasoline for their cars or hiring cops to do actual cop work).

It was really funny to see all the Armenian news agencies and some of the papers publish two of the items without any fact checking. The Armenian media is in a really sorry state. It's so easy to bait them - say mention the words 'genocide' or 'Turk' and they'll be all over it.

Yes, I am comparing the actions of the two governments. Both of them attacked peaceful protesters and both of them killed a few of these protesters. Both of these governments then suppressed the media and the internet, brought in troops and clamped down any dissent.

The Hay Dat committee in Canada has condemned the violence in Tibet and the use of force against the civilians. They even offer their condolences to the Tibetans who lost their lives. At the same time, they, and the rest of the Armenian organizations that claim to represent the Armenian interests in the West, have been mum on the similar actions by the government in Armenia. There is nothing wrong with supporting the plight of the Tibetans but they are using double standards. I can't believe I am agreeing with a 'garmag' post I have been pondering about this since the "ARMENIANS FOR CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE" was published. Your idea fits nicely in supporting Armenian citizens instead of spineless organizations that actually do more harm than good to Armenia. BTW, here is the civil disobedience text for the interested. I have highlighted the part that is relevant to this topic. ARMENIANS FOR CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE “Government is best which governs least” Thomas Jefferson. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau called for a Civil Disobedience in an essay arguing that people should not permit governments to overrule or atrophy their consciences, and that people have a duty to avoid allowing such acquiescence to enable the government to make them the agents of injustice. The Armenian people have suffered enough violations of their civil rights since the beginning of the 20th Century, by either foreign rulers, or by their own governments and leaders up until 21 Century and continuing. The Armenian has fought throughout history for individual rights to live freely in Armenia with all civil rights being respected without much success because of the fear instigated in them by abusive forces. They have laws (and not bad ones, either). Their problem is that the enforcement of the laws is choppy. The prosecution and the courts are corrupt so the legal system is essentially a joke.

The responsibility of an editor or a journalist is to report news. Defusing tensions is the job of other people, in this case the politicians. I can't believe I have to post such elementary things.
