I think we need to define a "closeness metric" by which we can judge people's relative distances in terms of Armenianness ... then we can use that to evaluate their partnership.

Judging by what has been discussed on this board so far, I don't think it's feasible at this time to come up with an absolute Armenianness scale ... as in trying to definitevely answer the question "who is Armenian". But I think we can certainly make some sort of relative comparison most of the time ... as in person A is more Armenian than person B.

Here, I am suggesting using such a relative topological classification of Armenianness to evaluate the goodness of Armenian partnerships.

We may also use such a scoring system to help us decide:

(Start with 0)

Armenian father: +10

Armenian mother: +10

From Iran: +100

Can speak Eastern Armenian: +10

Can speak Western Armenian: +5

Can Write in Armenian: +50

Likes Rabiz Musc: -500

Can actually recognize Raiz music: +20

Likes Harut Pamboukjian: +150

Is a vegeterian: -10

For each parent that is:

of Greek origin: +4

Italian: +3

Eastern European: +2

Western European: +1

Asian: 0

Affrican: -1

Affrican who can speak Armenian: +70

... and so forth.

What do you guys think about Armenian girls dating/marrying non-Armenian men?

style_images/master/snapback.png

It happens daily in US,Turkey,Russia,France etc. Ara Baliozian terms it white genocide. I think one cannot stop hormones taking over.

I know few Armenian women who married non-Armenian but in one case she raised her kids as Armenians. Her kid goes same Armenian school as my kids. The kid has blue eyes and blond hair taken from Dutch father.

It depends how one raises their children. They are numerous “pure” Armenians in Diaspora who are assimilated fully and contribute zero effort to all things Armenian.

In Watertown I know one Armenian girl who married a African American and their child speaks fluent Armenian. I hope Armenians will be open enough to accept these kind of Armenians as their own since I know first hand we can be brutally closed minded and tribal.

Armenians should always try and marry armenians. Forget about flirting with foreigners. Keep the blood unpolluted and the armenianess alive

I would accept them for sure. But I would also encourage people to look for Armenians. I don't think there are soul mates, as in one ideal person for another, so it is my belief that there are many people out there that you can love equally who can give you what you need from a relationship. You may not be able to stop yourself from loving someone but given the choice or if you can... Anyway, I believe that there would be an additional closeness if you found someone perfect who was also Armenian.
